FOUR DAYS WITH WINNERS AND PROFITS: Daqman won money for the fourth consecutive day yesterday and landed two naps out of the last three. Crambo was near evens on BETDAQ in the morning.

Friday: 4.30 points profit on the day
WON 8-11 CRAMBO (nap)

Thursday: 4 points profit on the day
WON 9-2 MARBLE SANDS

Wednesday: 3.50 points profit on the day
WON 3-1 EARL OF TYRONE (nap)

Tuesday: 10.75 points profit on the day
WON 2-1 SHIGHNESS
WON 11-8 BIT HARSH

THE NAP WOULD PAY FOR SATURDAY BETS: Daqman analyses the four best Saturday races at Newbury with big outsiders in the wide-open hurdles handicap. A win for the nap would pay for all stakes.

WHY THE BUCK’S TOPS HERE

⭕ 1.50 Newbury (3m handicap hurdle) Barbados Buck’s was an eyecatcher over the CD in November under an apprentice. Harry Cobden takes over today in this grade-lower race.

Stablemate Flemenstide carries his head high but believe me he can see over any obstacle (a house?).

He’s just a big, green thing, lagging behind his trainer’s plans to make a chaser of him. Cheekpieces removed.

Regarding Ruth is another CD winner; those she beat that day have done well since but over fences not hurdles. She goes well fresh but hasn’t been seen for 645 days; that’s three prime ministers back!

West To The Bridge has won all his races on soft-heavy. Annual Invictus will probably return to front-running in a bid to bounce back.

BETDAQ value 4.3 Barbados Buck’s

ZANZA HUGE AT BETDAQ 16.0

⭕ 2.25 Newbury (Denman Chase) The architect of Denman’s career – Paul Nicholls – has won this three times in the decade and Hitman is weighted to get revenge on an old adversary, Eldorado Allen (trained by neighbour Joe Tizzard).

Eldorado has yet to mine the gold that glistens in his name but has tackled the tops, behind Protektorat at Haydock and Bravemansgame in the King George, when Hitman pulled up.

Tizzard is getting the odd winner again after a lean spell but fits cheekpieces to help Eldorado’s bid to land back-to-back wins in this race. Hitman has to bounce back.

Also in first-time cheekpieces is Fanion d’Estruval, a winner here but found the Newbury Gold Cup too fast and too far. Otherwise he loves this place (2-2).

Kim Bailey has dropped out of form though Does He Know has won two graded races over further. It all seems to add up to an outsider winning this.

The punter’s curse of only seven runners strikes here and proves yet again how little interest the BHA and Jockey Club have in the betting public.

The each-way bet, Zanza (BETDAQ 16.0 this morning), has form at Newbury of 11011, hurdles and fences, including over CD, but has to be in the first two to pay.

SIVOLA GAME FOR A DOUBLE

⭕ 3.00 Newbury (Game Spirit Chase) McFabulous (1.15 Newbury) and Jonbon (2.40 Warwick) are the ones for punters who like to mix short-shots in their Daq Multiples but I’m not so sure about Greaneteen.

He beat the 10-year-old Sceau Royal in the 2022 Tingle Creek, after that one had been beaten easily by Funambule Sivola in last year’s Game Spirit here at Newbury.

And his Haldon Gold Cup win in November was against stablemate Dolos, who has scored once (1–14) since October 2020.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 6.8 Funambule Sivola

JOE CAN HOLD IRISH AT BAY

⭕ 3.35 Newbury (Premier Handicap Hurdle) As Jumps racing becomes more and more restricted, it’s good to see a big field. But how big is it really?

In five of the last six seasons the winner has been rated 141 (twice), 143 and 146, and you have to start with just four runners within these narrow parameters before looking for a ‘hidden horse’.

In fact, the 146 winner carried only 11st 5lb when scoring in 2020 but has 11st 12lb (Icare Allen) in a weaker field today.

146 Icare Allen Won two for Willie Mullins at this time last year; then fourth in the Triumph Hurdle. Tough task.

143 Highway One O Two Gave 2lb and a beating to Hacker Des Places in a quality handicap at Ascot in October

142 Hacker Des Places Third in the Imperial Cup last March (Monviel well behind; improved since), and won at Cheltenham in January – both on the soft – with his defeat by ‘Highway’ coming on a sound surface like today’s.

141 Tritonic Dropped back to the mark of his Ascot Grade-3 in December 2021, struggling in the top grades since with best form when taking the London Handicap at Goodwood on the Flat last October.

His trainer, Alan King, seems to prefer Restitution as ‘maturing and progressive.’ Big offers around 31.0.

You could say that last year’s winner, Glory And Fortune (148), is a ‘hidden horse’ in that he’s dabbled in Grade 1 and 2 since then against such as Honeysuckle and Epatante.

But no winner has done the double back to back since Rosyth (1963-4) right at the beginning, when it was called the Schweppes, though Geos won it twice (2000 and 2004) four years apart.

Nigel Twiston-Davies is current leading trainer with three winners in nine years, two of them favourite; his Master Chewy is an unexposed maiden who probably needs more experience in a big field like this.

As well as Icare Allen, the Irish run Filey Bay (Emmet Mullins) at the front of the market, after gaining experience over here at a lower level. Went clear under Donagh Meyler at Doncaster in November; won’t mind the ground.

Rubaud landed a novice-hurdle double before Christmas and has waited for the faster going since stuck in the mud at Kempton on Boxing Day against Rare Edition, who himself was put in his place by Marble Sands on Thursday.

No Ordinary Joe, the 2021 Greatwood third, is rarely seen but 3-4 (completed) and laid out for the race. Stable back to form last couple of days.

BETDAQ value 13.5 No Ordinary Joe, 22 Highway One O Two, 31 Restitution (saver 4.6 Filey Bay)

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
