DAQMAN IS 22 CLEAR AHEAD OF YORK: 12 months on and nothing changes except the gap between them! Daqman is today leading Pricewise by 22 winners this Flat season, compared with 12 on this day last year. That’s good news for York next week.

2022 DAQMAN LEADING PRICEWISE 40-28
2023 DAQMAN LEADING PRICEWISE 43-21

NOW FOR SOME BIG VALUE ON BETDAQ: Today’s feature races range from Group-2 tests for two-year-olds at the Curragh to sprint handicaps at Ripon, all on softish going and facing the threat of rain. Daqman has bets right up to 19.0 and 21.0 on BETDAQ.

ARREST RATES THE DAY’S NAP

⭕ 1.50 Newbury (Geoffrey Freer Stakes) Three year-olds are four out of six, and Team Gosden – in form with group wins from Inspiral and Mighty Ulysses – have ideal conditions for Arrest, dropped two grades, after his firm-ground flops in the Epsom Derby and the Ascot version, King Edward V11 Stakes. BETDAQ 2.5 this morning.

⭕ 2.25 Newbury William Buick, who won two out of three on Whenthedealisdone two years ago, is back in the plate now the Dark Angel gelding has dropped back to his winning mark. BETDAQ 6.6

Hidden horse of the race is Katey Kontent, 6th in the 2022 Queen Mary, and in her first handicap today, dropping down from attempts to get some black type in Listeds. BETDAQ 10.5

⭕ 3.00 Newbury Eight out of 10 winners have been drawn in the low six stalls, all bar one in the decade at the business end of the market.

Clive Cox (Scholarship and Legal Nymph) and William Haggas (first-time visored Alpha Capture) have shared four of the last six winners.

BETDAQ 4.7 offer Classic, out of the one stall today, struck form at Sandown in July, and Top Secret should go well, granted some pace on. Rain boosts well-handicapped Isla Kai (at around 6.5).

⭕ 3.35 Newbury (Hungerford Stakes) The easier surface has ruled out Jumby, who won this on firm last year (Pogo 5th) but today, as long as it doesn’t ride deep, the eighth horse home then, Chindit, second in the Lockinge here, could reverse the form, now rated 4lb higher than that rival. BETDAQ 4.0

IT’S BLUEBIRD IF HE’S ON SONG

⭕ 2.05 Newmarket STATS: Eight winners out of 10 have been drawn in single figures, only one above the age of 5.

Those facts highlight the unexposed grey Celtic Champion (from the one stall), who has not been out since February; he was gelded the following month.

Mister Bluebird (out of gate 6 today) was targeted at an Ascot sprint last year won by his dam, and won it well, so it shows he can be laid out for a race.

BETDAQ value 8.6 Celtic Champion, 18 Mister Bluebird

SNASH SMASH AT THE WEIGHTS

⭕ 2.40 Ripon (Silver Trophy) Great St Wilfrid third off 85 last year when badly drawn and swerving at the start, Mark’s Choice is down to 77 and comes out of gate 5 in this two-grades-lower race.

Out of the one stall today, Snash was badly drawn, slow away and short of room, when sixth last year, and is a stone better off with Mark’s Choice.

Strong Johnson (stall 6) has been given every chance by the handicapper, dropped a stone since June, two stone lower than when he ran at Ascot and the Curragh in the autumn of 2021. Has he retained enough ability?

Betdaq Betting Exchange 13 Strong Johnson, 14.5 Mark’s Choice, 19.0 Snash

⭕ 3.15 Ripon (Great St Wilfrid) STATS Ages 5 and 7 total eight of the last nine winners; carried 9st 1lb max. DRAW Low numbers last year but before that a sequence of winners from 13, 10, 19, 15, 17

He would have been nearer 2-9 not 9-2 had those who backed Monsieur Kodi down to favourite for the Stewards Sprint at Goodwood known that his Yarmouth conqueror, Dark Trooper, would complete a double the following day and a hat-trick a week later, making his handicap form look Group potential.

A three-year-old has won the Great St Wilfrid only once this century, so Dream For Gold, Lakota Blue and Sophia’s Starlight are surprisingly short priced, until you check out the dross in the rest of the field!

Gulliver (not won since 2020), Hyperfocus and Summerghand (rain may have spoiled his chance) are risky bets at aged nine.

The overnight punt was Cairn Gorm but he has a mountain to climb from class 4 while Bay Breeze, four out of six at Ripon, and Aphelios have both failed to make an impact when tried in class 2.

Twelfth Knight has Ripon returns of 1233 but, with Monsieur Kodi in the low draw and Hyperfocus railing out of 19, I’ll take Dream of Gold from among the three-year-olds after his narrow defeat full tilt down July course in a £50k contest.

BETDAQ value 6 Monsieur Kodi, 13.5 Hyperfocus, 21 Dream For Gold

FUTURITY OF THE DYNASTIES..

⭕ 3.27 Curragh (Futurity Stakes) Aidan O’Brien has won this 15 times, the first time only five years after the last of Vincent O’Brien’s 16 Futurity strikes in 40 years. Aidan’s 15 have come in 25 years.

Henry Longfellow looks likely to continue his dynasty and those of the modern super-sires, his father, Dubawi, and Galileo, sire of his mother, Minding, who was 1,000 Guineas and Oaks winner and sister to an Oaks winner and Irish 1,000 winner.

His stablemate in this, Portland, is a Dubawi out of another Galileo mare, but it’s probably Islandsinthestream who is feared most.

He is by the rising stud – sorry, star sire – Wootton Bassett, who has River Tiber doing special work this morning to decide on participation in the Morny on Sunday, and has Al Riffa and King Of Steel in the Irish Champion Stakes next month.

⭕ 4.00 Curragh (Debutante Stakes) Aidan O’Brien has won this one 13 times and has just one runner today, Pearls And Rubies, in a rematch with Snellen, who beat her just a head in the Chesham Stakes, both quoted for the Newmarket 1,000 Guineas afterwards.

Pearls And Rubies has since been beaten again in the Anglesey but Snellen has been given a holiday and comes back at her fresh here. On the book right now, Snellen has to be value at 6.4 on BETDAQ this morning.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
