⭕ 2.10 Kelso This mares novices handicap final (2m) is the race that matters – twice the value of some the others – in the continuing series of finals.
Yet the man with enough money to buy up the entire field – J P McManus – has the shortest-priced favourite of the day in this race, in terms of her being clear of 15 others.
Off 12 stone, the mare Khrisma, trained for him by Nicky Henderson, has pushed all bar two of them below the 11st level.
Khrisma, unluckily ballotted out of the County Hurdle at Cheltenham, has never been out of the first three .
On this day for the novices, it’s worth looking for potential just now revealing itself, and the grey Walk In The Park mare, Riviera Walk, trotted up 15 lengths at Catterick early this month, leading for much of the way and going clear of an odds-on daughter of Kalanisi over from Ireland. BETDAQ 16.0.
WOLF CAN SPOIL THE PARTY
⭕ 2.25 Newbury Dan Skelton’s Heltenham seems poised to repeat the back-to-back Newbury double he performed in March 2024, after returning to form on the course last month.
In fact, this is a treble chance. He also won today’s race in 2023 but missed it last year after the 2024 follow-up.
However, none of his wins at Newbury – or elsewhere – have come from such a high mark as today’s. His overall results with 140 and 142 ratings have been 0F0P03.
And Skelton’s former guv’nor, Paul Nicholls, has set two onto one with Harry Cobden on Knappers Hill and Twinjets claimed off.
Knappers Hill has been mostly out of form since scoring at Wincanton back in November, 2023.
Twinjets wants all his own way. He gave 5lb and a 10-lengths beating to Heltenham here at Newbury, unchallenged, in November when he made all.
But he sulked when not allowed his customary control in the Greatwood that Heltenham won there last month.
It’s a race when several plans could collide and something straightforward like Prairie Wolf, a truly solid performer, could pounce on the unwary.
He might currently be three-from-four but for a lost shoe here at Newbury in November, third over further, when the winner was Booster Bob, who had won the 2025 Greatwood. BETDAQ 6.0
PLAY 19.0 ON THE JUKEBOX
⭕ 3.00 Newbury Another mares novices final, this one over 2m 4f plus, and Nicky Henderson, who has Khrishma in the big-money two-miler at Kelso, saddles Fresh As A Daisy here.
She was giving 7lb when runner-up to Indannya at Warwick before that one followed up impressively at Wincanton but, in consequence, must now give ‘Daisy’ 5lb.
Getawhisky, who was nine lengths behind Khrisma in the mares novices over 2m, switches to this longer trip as her pedigree dictates: she is well related to 2m 4f and even 3m 2f performers.
In my view, Dan Skelton (Getawhisky) and Nicky Henderson (Fresh As A Daisy) have made the right movies on this chessboard of collateral form.
But I can’t leave out Queenofthejukebox, who has Sean Bowen doing the steering for Noel Williams.
Williams has won this with lightweights twice in the last nine years, one of them at 14-1 but the other landing a gamble under top jock at the time, Barry Geraghty.

AN EASY FOR PARK AT LAST
★ NAP OF THE DAY: To say that Lisbane Park (⭕ 1.15 Newbury) has been up against it is an understatement.
At Cheltenham in December, he faded at the finish, understandably in hindsight, behind the subsequent Supreme Novices winner Old Park Star.
Then at Windsor, he weakened close home, trying a longer trip against Scorpio Rising, who completed a four-timer at Sandown, taking the Novices Hurdle Final at Sandown.
Back to 2m on better ground today, with Harry Cobden taking over, he should see off future prospects Gambino and Cecilia Star, which you can put in forecasts.
