So the scores remain Pricewise 45-16 (Daqman +67, Pricewise -74 to a single-unit level stake).

THE ‘SUPER SIX’ FAST SHOW FIELD
2.15 Newmarket (July Cup) A fast show for all tastes, from two of last year’s top two-year-olds (U S Navy Flag and Sioux Nation) returned to sprinting to two golden oldies, Limato and Brando.
But the race usually goes to leading hot speed merchants aged three and four: Blue Point, Dreamfield, Eqtidaar, Sands Of Mali all lay claims, and there’s an Australian star, Redkirk Warrior, who could bounce back to form.
BLUE POINT: Kings Stand Stakes winner in fast time has to step up a furlong here, but had beaten Harry Angel over the trip in the Spring of 2017 before running third in that year’s Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.
In fact, he has held the Ascot track record in the past at both 5f and 6f but has to give 6lb to the three-year-olds today (Eqtidaar, Sands Of Mali, US Navy Flag).
DREAMFIELD: Lost his unbeaten record in the Wokingham, which is a handicap, just failing to run them into the ground. Nearly a stone behind stablemate Blue Point in the ratings and giving weight away to the three-year-olds.
But expected to improve again in better company, with tremendous speed shown at Ascot, allied to high-class reserve of stamina on the dam’s side.
EQTIDAAR: Massive step up to win Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Held on gamely (from 3 stall), drifting left down the centre as Sands of Mali hung right from a high draw. Lightly raced and entitled to improve.
LIMATO: The last time he ran over 6f he was runner-up to Harry Angel in this race last year. He’d won it the year before, but only one six-year-old has scored (Les Arcs 2006) and just nine five-year-olds since 1959.
SANDS OF MALI: Paul Hanagan has ridden the winner twice in six seasons, once for Richard Fahey, who claims that ‘Sands’ can bury Eqtidaar in this revenge mission.
First home on the stands’ side when drawn 22 in the Commonwealth Cup, beaten half a length with winner, third, fourth and fifth coming out of 3, 11, 10, 1.
US NAVY FLAG: Roly Poly’s brother was champion European two-year-old, winning both Middle Park (6f) and Dewhurst (7f) last season but fell short in the mile Classics this Spring, fifth in the French Guineas, second in the Curragh version. Drops back to his winning trip today.
ALSO RAN: Australian sprint star Redkirk Warrior flopped in the Diamond Jubilee. Third to Harry Angel in this race last year, Brando’s Newmarket form is 1131. Sioux Nation brought top juvenile form (Norfolk and Phoenix Stakes wins) to the Commonwealth Cup but was a well beaten favourite.
BETDAQ VALUE VERDICT: The Commonwealth Cup is the pointer to this, but who will come out best in the re-run, Eqtidaar or Sands of Mali?
Hard to say but I can get around 10.0 each of those two for a ton-up tilt on BETDAQ, with the favourite, Blue Point, as my saver.
QUORTO IS QUITE EXCEPTIONAL..
1.05 Newmarket Gustav Klimt won this for Ballydoyle last year and Highland Reel’s brother Cape Of Good Hope must surely go close for them today.
Railway Stakes third Certain Lad and Neverland Rock, already a CD winner, are obvious dangers.
But the word from my man in the long grass is that Quorto (2.64 this morning) is exceptional. He also scored on today’s course over 6f.
The Dubawi colt’s dam was Oaks placed, granddaughter of a French Gold Cup winner. Such a combination of precocious speed and reserves of stamina could see quite sensational development.
PACE PROVIDES ZIP FOR MAKZEEM
1.40 Newmarket (Bunbury Cup) High numbers have been best in this in five of the last six seasons.
Jockey in form P J Macdonald (five winners since Tuesday) stays aboard Von Blucher (28.0 offers on BETDAQ from stall 17) on whom he was sixth last year off 4lb higher when he failed to settle.
Off-putting is the stable’s 38 days without success but Von Blucher goes well fresh so may be a lonesome hero in the yard.
Burnt Sugar (16) could do with some rain, while Mountain Rescue (19) is a CD winner but in lower class.
Tupi (a 29.0 BETDAQ bet in stall 11) is not easy to win with but is a stone lower than at this time last year and Richard Hannon has just found some form.
Gilgamesh (13) ‘won’ the race of the near side group in the Victoria Cup at Ascot but is up 8lb after scoring at York and running out of his skin, hampered seventh, in the furlong-shorter Wokingham Stakes.
Muntadab (from stall 10) is likely to set the centre field alight. Masham Star (18) is penalised for the Mark Johnston team, who have Seamie Heffernan booked for Love Dreams (in 7) and James Doyle on another penalised runner, Cardsharp (14), who has won over 6f since down the field in the 2,000 Guineas.
If the low draw wins, I fancy Makzeem, who has won on both Newmarket courses under Ryan Moore. Mubtasim, last year’s Jersey Stakes third, is plotted to make today’s handicap debut a winning one under Donnacha O’Brien.
Andrea Atzeni could have ridden one of his old favourites, Spanish City, but is at York for the same trainer (Appeared 3.40)
VERDICT: Because of the pace which is likely from Muntadab (in 10) and Love Dreams (in 7), I’m drawn to Makzeem and Mubtasim, both arround 9.8 on BETDAQ), with Mukalal and Gilgamesh also likely to run well. My outsider on the other flank is Von Blucher.
TOP OF THE WORLD: BETDAQ 38.0
3.40 York (John Smith’s Cup) Winning stalls nine times in the decade have been between 11 and 22; just the one single-figure winner, Master Carpenter three years ago.
But, like four other runners, the stats say he is too old now (only one winner over the age of five).
Despite the results, a high stall doesn’t please some trainers. Roger Varian describes Appeared’s gate 20 as ‘a very difficult draw.’
Appeared was fourth in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot, won by Dash of Spice from Sir Chauvelin.
Both Appeared and Sir Chauvelin (stall 14) have been handed chances of a turnaround in the placings with Dash of Spice at the revised weights.
One sure to like the wide-outside draw is Master The World, a 38.0 BETDAQ offer in 22. He gets behind in his races and likes to come with a late rattle. His veteran trainer David Elsworth has been having a big revival this season, with 10 winners of 16 races from just 23 horses
The lightly-raced pair Across Dubai and Kynren (19.0 on BETDAQ) look capable of winning this if they don’t get smothered up in the pack from low stalls.
Across Dubai is in cheekpieces first time. Kynren’s trainer David Barron has just had three winenrs from five starters earlier in the week.
But one I’ve been waiting for is Brorocco (10.5 offers; acts on any ground), who was fifth in the Cambridgeshire after scoring over this trip at Newbury, 7lb.lower than today.
