DAQMAN’S LIBRARY OF BIG WINNERS: Come on, Daqman! Nearly time to show your true colours, as Royal Ascot approaches. Today we’ve updated his big-race success so far this year, alongside his superb headlines.. all secured and more detailed in the Daqman Library (slight pressure on the icon).
CLASSIC DOUBLE AND CHAMPIONSHIP: There are big races everywhere today: the French Champion Hurdle at Auteuil; an Oaks and a Derby in Ireland; and a Listed at Salisbury that always takes some cracking. Maybe one or more of them will be Daqman’s stepping-stone back to form (but don’t splash out yet).

DRAGON OR WILLIE WHITEOUT IN FRANCE
4.05 Auteuil (French Champion Hurdle) Un De Sceaux goes on the attack in France from the stable of A Thousand Stars! But Willie Mullins hasn’t left his form-book at home.
He knows that in nine of the last 11 years, young pretenders aged five and six have toppled the existing stars, particularly five-year-olds who have an allowance and have had time off in the summer, time to grow up.
Willie has one himself. Whiteout won the Mares’ Grade 1 at Punchestown, beating the Cheltenham Mares’ Novices’ winner.
Un De Sceaux won the Barka, top trial for this in May; but today’s ‘Grande Course’ is a new departure for him, distance wise.
Danger to Camp Mulilns must be Blue Dragon, 10 in a row still standing
and another from the ranks of the young pretenders.
In April, Blue Dragon was five lengths better than Le Grand Luce, who was six lengths behind Un De Sceaux in the Barka (calculating a pound a length in both races, albeit over different distances).
Both Blue Dragon and Whiteout are base-rated well inferior to Un de Sceaux, but the significance that I’m claiming for that 4lb allowance looks very real viewed again after assessing the future ratings from collateral form.
OAKS LOOKS PRETTY PERFECT FOR O’BRIEN
3.55 Cork (Munster Oaks) Aidan O’Brien and Dermot Weld are locked together 3-3 in this in the decade but we’re fresh from Weld’s playing a trump card at Epsom that will rankle The Lads (a few million off the Ballydoyle bloodstock).
Shamreen has missed the big dates for fillies. The application of a visor today is a tad ominous and another steadier as you mouse your way to the BETDAQ orange is that Weld’s winning trio in the race have included only the one second-season animal.
The favourite has scored only twice in the decade, even though four to seven runners is the norm for this field.
I’m thinking that the Irish Guineas wasn’t far enough for Pretty Perfect. She’s by Galileo and this race should be pretty well perfect for her.
4.30 (Cork Derby) Weld again with Alveena and, would you believe,
also visored first time! He wants every last drop out of his Oaks-and-Derby duo today.
I’ll go for Ger Lyons’ Synopsis. He’ll be keen to get this one in the bag for the Cheveley Park Stud. Has been saved up for the race.
SUGAR COULD BURN THE FORM BOOKS
3.45 Salisbury (Cathedral Stakes) Team Hannon’s form figures in this are 1021111 and Burnt Sugar will have been organised for this.
Danzeno has cowed to the Charlie Hills sprint gang of Muhaarar snd Magical Memory. Can he now overcome Strath Burn and get some revenge.
Obviously Danzeno and Strath Burn are swerving the big guns at Royal Ascot, including yet another Charlie Hills’ cracker, Cotai Glory.
Danzeno is well ahead on the ratings and I shall also have a pound on the ‘hidden horse’ Burnt Sugar, who played in six Group races in 2014-15.
