BROOME SWEEPS TO THE FRONT SO LATE YOU COULD GET 3.0: Daqman landed his first supernap of the Flat season yesterday. Broome (WON 1-2), who had been 7-10 on BETDAQ for the Alleged Stakes at The Curragh, came so late that there was plenty of time to take 3.0 in running. Daqman opposed another favourite, Motakhayyel (2nd 11-8) at Thirsk, in his Lays Logic. Current records now stand at:

15 MINUTES TO NATIONAL GLORY IN 300-1 SPRING DOUBLE: Daqman changes tack completely today and bids for a double of more than 300-1 (maximum) in 3 x 3 Daq Multiples on the two major handicaps, the Coral Scottish Grand National over Jumps and Newbury Spring Cup on the Flat, which are run only 15 minutes apart.

⭕ 3.20 Newbury (Spring Cup) There is no obvious draw bias but the pattern of the race is decided by where the jockeys elect to go, which in turn is usually prompted by prospects of the pace.
High numbers seem to have bags of it: stalls 14 and 16 should release Raaeq and Bear Force One into early contention, which will help Johan (13).
But the money is for the low numbers, where Danyah is likely to be towed along by National League, though that one doesn’t usually last beyond 6f.
Danyah was third over 7f here in the summer and fourth in the Lincoln last month, when he was too free so unable to pick up to run a finish. Nugget will be waited with.
Revich didn’t get much room in the Lincoln and ran on well to finish sixth but his wins have come at Epsom and Chester, and maybe he needs a bend.
1️⃣: JOHAN ( BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE 14.5) beat the Lincoln runner-up, Brunch, at the Ayr Western Meeting in the autumn, though he’d been stone last to that one at York.
Vast improvement? More likely he had other things on his mind at York and was gelded in January.
William Haggas has started well with a hat-trick at the Craven Meeting, and this is the value bet of the race, said to be back to his best.
2️⃣: Matthew Flinders (BETDAQ 7.0) has also been gelded and could take a big step forward as a result.
A winner for Oisin Murphy over 1m 2f at Doncaster as a novice, he did well and, within six weeks, was beating handicappers of today’s level on the straight mile there under Tom Marquand.
Marquand has just won a £1,367,696 first prize on Addeybb for William Haggas in Australia so won’t feel too badly about handing this ride back to Murphy.
3️⃣: Nugget (BETDAQ 7.0) Was there, or thereabouts, every time in straight mile races last year on good ground, and was twice short of room when well backed for his reappearance at Nottingham. Connections have booked Ryan Moore to keep him out of trouble.

1️⃣: NOTACHANCE (BETDAQ 14.5) Alan King has had a lean season until boosted by Notachance’s winning the Warwick Classic and with clever – and confident – placing of Her Indoors to score at Cheltenham on Thursday.
Notachance is just seven years old but only four of that age had ever won the Warwick Classic; no trouble at all for him that day.
2️⃣: Dingo Dollar (BETDAQ 12.0) In contrast to Alan King, Sandy Thomson had a great time in the autumn – bringing back former Cheltenham festival winner Yorkhill to win the Rehearsal Chase – spilling over into the new year when producing another old hand Seeyouatmidnight to win a big handicap at age 13.
Dingo Dollar came to form at Newcastle the last day and has the provenance for a big staying handicap: third (2018) and then fifth (2019) in the Ladbrokes Trophy.
3️⃣: Chapel Stile (BETDAQ 22.0) Hat-trick over hurdles took him to 127 rating but has bettered that by 10lb since he went chasing, going through the gears in stayer’s style late on to score at Carlisle in February.
Running for Nicky Richards instead of a previous winner of this National, Takingrisks, and surely more to come now as half-brother to NH Chase winner Rathvinden, third in the Aintree Grand National. But needs the ground well watered today.
SKELTONS HAVE FUTURE CHAMPIONS
⭕ 1.15 and 3.00 Ayr Victory for sequence winner King D’argent (1.50) looks vital for both trainer Dan, in his scheme of things for 2021-22, and jockey Harry, in his bid to dislodge Brian Hughes from the jockeys’ title seat.
For the same reasons, Team Skelton will then hope to restore the reputation of Allmankind (3.00) in the Future Champions Novices Chase after his sequence was broken in a drubbing by Shishkin at Cheltenham.
⭕ 1.50 Ayr (Champion Novices Handicap Chase) One way or another the Irish could win this, either with Emmet Mullins’ lone raider Pilbara or Dead Right, the only J P McManus runner at this big Ayr meeting.
An impressive winner on good ground at Market Rasen in the autumn, Dead Right was dead wrong in the wind at Cheltenham and has had surgery since. This has been his target all along.

⭕ 2.25 Ayr (Coral Scottish Champion Hurdle Handicap) Recent winners of this had a maximum of four starts towards the end of a gruelling season, which must have left its mark on half a dozen runners today with a string of races to their name.
And it’s not hard to dismiss Diego Du Charmil, who has found it difficult to win and impossible to put back-to-back wins together as he would have to do here.
Tommys Oscar is now up a stone for his four wins out of six and Anna Bunina may be flattered by her five-lengths eighth in the County Hurdle. Milkwood was third that day and Thyme White 12th (he never did like Cheltenham).
Calico is yet another hope of the Skeltons, who have clearly planned to take home all the bawbees this afternoon. Unexposed Grade-2 novice nicely placed in his first handicap.

GREENHAM: FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE
⭕ 2.10 Newbury (Fred Darling Stakes) Bosra Sham (1996 for Henry Cecil) was the last great winner of the Fred Darling, going on to 1,000 Guineas and Champion Stakes glory.
Mick Channon, the leading modern trainer in the race with five winners this century, hit form with 2-3 at Nottingham yesterday, and could have an outside chance with 122.0 BETDAQ offer Illykato
At the other end of the market, Cheveley Park winner Alcohol Free (BETDAQ 4.3) is with a stable in form and Clive Cox, who runs Isabella Giles (8.0), is on a hat-trick after two from two at Bath yesterday, including Isabella Swan (no relation).

⭕ 2.45 Newbury (Greenham Stakes) The glory days of the Greenham go back to Mill Reef (1971), and the Henry Cecil pair Wollow (1976) and Kris (1979).
The race was massively upgraded again by Frankel (2011) and Kingman (2014), and could have a Fundamental shake-up today with Team Gosden’s selected under Frankie Dettori set for a big step up.
His breeding suggests that Chindit will need 1m 4f by now, his 7f-1m standing lowered eight lengths by St Mark’s Basilica in the Dewhurst. Alkumait was even further behind.
