WHEN IT ALL GOES WRONG: Disaster for Daqman at Del Mar! Consecutive bets on Breeders Cup night resulted: Believing withdrawn, Jayarebe serious injury in race, City Of Troy traveled badly on the surface, Cinderella’s Dream beaten on the line. He carries the pain over to the Cork Grand National where the rules of the betting game seem tenuous as ever.

JUMPING WITH BETDAQ VALUE

⭕ 3.15 Cork (Cork Grand National) More pro punters are being paid to talk about the rules of the game. Well, they need the money!

Did City Of Troy’s drifting to 4-1 and 5-1 make him a bet in California? Could you follow ace jockeys and trainers and make money?

Bob Baffert, Aidan O’Brien and Charlie Appleby won big time again but good to see Ralph Beckett and jockey Rossa Ryan, the season’s hot combo of English racing, take the Sprint.

In yesterday’s Autumn Gold Cup at Ascot, stats and facts – top weight, favourites’ poor record, trainer seemingly out of form – were against Chianti Classico.

To those pro punters who disdain stats and say ‘serves you right, Chianti Classico won’, the answer is in their own betting record: did they back it? what price did they want with so many negatives?

There are similar negatives here? Only one winner in the decade has carried more than 10st 13lb in the Cork Grand National. No winning favourite in the last seven years; only one winner of a double-figure age.

The further similarity with Chianti Classico tipping the bottle yesterday is that he loves Ascot, and Sir Bob loves Cork, where his form is 111, including this race last year. But (and here’s the big negative), he wins on only soft and heavy ground.

As you all know, I will back more than one horse in a race if I get the right offers, and I will also ‘save stakes’ on such as Chianti Cassico or Sir Bob, if my selection warrants it.

One thing we want to be on is a horse that has a future; Sir Bob does not; Chianti Classico’s connections will be tempted to shy at the Grand National but only in the category of ‘a fun horse.’

The youthful winners sequence of aged seven (twice), eight and nine (twice) was interrupted in the Cork Grand National last year but one who can reconnect with the parade of youth is Hand Over First, who found extra reserves to win over 3m here in October on good ground.

Outside The Door has already gone close over today’s trip and has won on good ground, chase then hurdler, either side of his summer break.

In the absence of Stuzzikini, Gordon Elliottt has Ulster National winner Jumping Jet readied at Galway after the break.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 13.0 Jumping Jet, 7.3 Outside The Door, 3.45 Hand Over Fist

SNIPE’S TIME OF YEAR

⭕ 1.48 Carlisle (Intermediate Chase) The defection of Grey Dawning makes a successful raid by Colonel Harry – up from Lambourn – distinctly possible and probable in the region of the BETDAQ offers of around 2-1 (2.96 taken)

⭕ 2.18 Carlisle (Castletown Hurdle) I’ve been following Dan Skelton and Olly Murphy, and here they face off with the chance of a profit between the two at 4.3 and 5.6 respectively

Punta Del Este loves cut in the ground and stays further. What A Johnny is up in grade after a wind op, which hardly seems necessary after form figures still standing of 3213312.

⭕ 3.23 Carlisle (Cumberland Chase) I’ll stand by Skelton, with Snipe following on the stable bet in the previous race so providing overlapping cover that one from the yard goes in.

Snipe had excellent form last autumn, including a strike at Aintree, and ran well on his return, first run since February. Not fully exposed and good value at 5.3 on BETDAQ this morning.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
