A STITCH IN TIME

⭕ 4.02 Naas (Leinster National) A day of only jumps racing which strikes me as odd just 48 hours before Cheltenham but hey ho. The Leinster National is without doubt the highlight of the day and you get the feeling JP is keen to win it – though probably unlikely to match his 2021 heroics when he owned the first three past the post!

JP has the front two in the 2026 Betdaq Betting Exchange market with the novices Goraibhmaithagat and Uhavemeinstitches who have plenty of back up from the gold and green battalion in the shape of Harvard Guy, Buachaillbocht and Sa Majesty.

Goraibhmaithagat and Uhavemeinstitches are both now up in trip but the concern with Goraibhmaithagat is his jumping ability. That didn’t stop him landing a gamble when winning here last time over 2m 4f but may well come under more pressure today in this tougher field.

Uhavemeinstitches misses the Kim Muir at Cheltenham in favour of this (big prize in its own right) and the mare looks interesting now stepped up in trip. She made a winning chase debut at Wexford and has run consistently well since – handling the testing ground expected again today with aplomb. The two mile trip looked far too short for her last time here when she was only third of four in a Listed contest.

A couple that make appeal at bigger odds are Gavin Cromwell’s The Lovely Man who will be staying on when plenty of these have cried enough and Kinturk Kalanisi if you are willing to forgive his latest run (bled from nostrils). His previous efforts give him a great chance off an unchanged mark of 138.

FAST LANE FOR BIG CADILLAC

⭕ 4.13 Warwick Dan Skelton features on my list of big priced winning trainers at Cheltenham above and the stable will no doubt be anxious to continue their recent good form heading into Tuesday.

They have sent out 11 winners in the past fortnight and can add to that with Big Cadillac here. The six-year-old has arguably not built on his opening point and bumper successes but has been in at the deep end including at Cheltenham last December in a Grade 2.

His Southwell third to Blue Run last time out might turn out to be better form than it looked at the time and he starts life in handicap company off a mark of 116 which looks workable.

The danger is Oh My Johnny who is now back to the mark he was when winning at Hereford a year ago and it was a good effort from him at Ascot last time out when third at 22/1.

IVY LIKE HOLLY

⭕ 5.00 Carlisle I am not sure Holly Bird needs to improve on what she did at Newcastle last time out to win this. She ran out a ready winner and can handle the drop back in trip which is offset, in part, by Carlisle being a much tougher circuit.

She’s up in the weights but scored with plenty in hand and can continue the good recent form of trainer Sandy Thomson. She rates as Sunday’s nap.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
