II’S A BIG-RACE BULL’S-EYE BETTING DAY: Daqman goes hunting 50-point bull’s-eye winners in big races at Carlisle and Naas today, spreading his bets over BETDAQ value. But he has just the one for the Cork National. What are you doing? Hint, hint.

DAQMAN’S 60 WINS CLEAR OF PRICEWISE: Daqman’s picking up the pieces after a Breeders Cup of shock after shock, from which he highlights a great ride by Ryan Moore. His scores with Pricewise are now 83-23 in front, 291 points clear.

RYAN MOORE IN SPRINT SENSATION

Never again! That’s the traditional reaction to a night out you’d rather forget. Mine is a genuine pledge never to bet at Del Mar again. I ended up California Blue.

It was like having British Champions Day at Chester instead of Ascot. The mad charge round the seaside oval is described as ‘racing beside the famous Pacific fairground.’ But it’s an infamous unfair-ground, to be specific.

‘Anything can win’ is an understatement. Anything DID win! Last night’s SPs included 66-1, 66-1, 40-1, 20-1, 14.2-1, 14-1, 12-1..

It had me thinking how truly amazing was John Gosden’s training as a trainer. It was his local track.

And admiration for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore was enhanced by their success on Friday with Mendelssohn and then last night with Declarationofpeace.

That last ride in the Juvenile Turf Sprint was sensational. Moore brought Declarationofpeace from the back door to front the field in the very last stride, with only hand riding in the final furlong. It was as delicious a piece of timing you’ll ever see.

And stables which think they’re housing top Classic hopes or champion sprinters of 2018 will be quaking yet again at the prospect of that man Aidan O’Brien. Both of those Breeders Cup winners of his are two-year-olds.

SMULLEN CAN LORD IT OVER THEM

3.00 Naas (November Handicap) The Flat bows out now with a November Handicap here and the one at Doncaster coming up on Saturday.

Dermot Weld at 7-2, 7-1 and 10-1 has won this Naas version three times since 2009. It’s not Ballybrit so we can’t bet him blind but 30.0 on BETDAQ for a pound Dalton Highway keeps us on the right side.

Wonder Lash was morning favourite but Dalton Highway got a sight on that one – and is now 7lb better off – when they were winner and fourth over shorter at Leopardstown. The Weld beast will appreciate the longer trip.

Pat Smullen seems to prefer Lord Erskine, and he certainly looks value at 6.2 as a 1m 4f winner who was capable of running clear in the Irish Cesarewitch over 2m at Navan on the last day, some 11 lengths in front of Wonder Lash.

Swamp Fox, a 9.6 offer, was hampered or might have been in the three for the Newmarket Cesarewitch.

BETDAQ 19.0 LOOKS BIG FOR ROOTS

2.30 Carlisle (Cumberland Chase) Very competitive, not the least among the probable winners those from stables which have won it before: Templeross for in-form Nigel Twiston-Davies (three times the winning trainer), Walford Salad for Venetia Williams and the mare Blameitallonmyroots for Oliver Sherwood.

Sherwood has struck form this month with two from four, and ‘Roots’ is a winner before on her first run back. Thomas Garner is a useful claimer. The 19.0 on BETDAQ looked too big this morning.

3.05 Carlisle Philip Hobbs considers lightly-raced Westend Story one of the best handicapped horses in his powerful in-form yard. Under Richard Johnson, can justify the long journey from Somerset to Cumbria. Supernap.

THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE DOING..

3.15 Cork (Cork Grand National) Sizing Network enjoys himself in front and is now nine in a row in the first four, attempting a hat-trick today for Jessica Harrington but testing a marathon trip for the first time.

Bless The Wings and Raz De Maree are both used to this distance but each has scored only once in three years and are 12 years old now. Both got a rear view of Whatareyoudoingtome over today’s trip at the Punchestown Festival, and that one’s return to the frame on the last day suggests that he prepped nicely for today (7.6 on BETDAQ).

Willie Mullins is a miracle worker but would have to be Merlin himself to bring Racing Pulse back from form figures of P0PUB0P0P. Lay.
