5-2 NAP PUTS DAQMAN 55-32 AHEAD IN CHALLENGE TO PRICEWISE: Daqman’s nugget of gold yesterday took him even further ahead of Pricewise of the Racing Post (55-32). Nugget was his nap and continued his winner a day into a third day.

WON 5-2 NUGGET Saturday (nap)
WON 4-1 FORBEARANCE Friday
WON 13-8 CAROLUS MAGNUS Thursday

‘KEEP YOUR DAQ UP’ DRAMA OF 700.0 WINNER IN THE ROYAL LODGE: Daqman is two out of three with recent back-and-lay situations he’s spotted, but he couldn’t have predicted the final half-furlong of the Royal Lodge Stakes yesterday when the winner, Royal Patronage, was offered at 700.0 as Coroebus seemed home for all money down to 1.01. The lesson is ‘keep your Daq up’ and play right to the line.

FRANKIE ON 21.0 LOVE IN THE ARC

⚠️ HEADS UP After Snowfall’s defeat in the Prix Vermeille, Aidan O’Brien will be double handed in a bid for his seventh Arc de Triomphe, with Frankie Dettori booked for Love.

Tarnawa (3.25) was favourite this morning in the BETDAQ Sportbook for next Sunday’s Longchamp spectacular, with Adayar 4.0, Snowfall 6.0, Hurricane Lane 7.5, Love at 21.0. Look out in Daqman:

DERBY 2022? GOLDSPUR GAMBLE

⭕ 2.20 Epsom Berkshire Rebel, Goldspur and Merlin’s Lady have each run one and won one in lower class but there’s no room for immaturity tackling the uphill camber that is Epsom.

And Austrian Theory may ‘do a Johnston’ and make use of his experience of three races in the pattern against such as Native Trail on the July Course and – with hill finishes handled well – round the bends of Goodwood (Group-2 third) and Sandown (Solario won by Reach For The Moon).

Goldspur was backed this morning as if defeat is out of the question, even money with 6-1 bar one. He’s another Charlie Appleby in this Derby Wild-Card Stakes.

BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE 7.6 Austrian Theory

7.0 HALL IS AT CONCERT PITCH

⭕ 2.30 The Curragh (Weld Park Stakes) A Group-3 for 2yo fillies, the kind of race that has had every punter cursing throughout August and September.

Just when you think it’s safe to go back into the betting pool, there’s another turn-up. Nothing new: that’s what’s happened in this race three years out of four, with winners at 10-1 and 12-1 (twice).

Aidan O’Brien was back to form big time with his two-year-olds yesterday, landing the Cheveley Park and the Beresford across the cards at Newmarket and the Curragh.

There’s very little today between Gavin Comwell’s Sunset Shiraz and O’Brien’s Concert Hall, who were third and fourth in the Moyglare.

But Sunset Shiraz won’t even run unless the rain comes early in the afternoon and gets into the ground, so you need to get Concert Hall, a CD winner on good ground, into your wallet.

BETDAQ value 7.0 Concert Hall

BERRAHRI CAN BELIE HIS YEARS

⭕ 3.25 Epsom (Apprentices Derby) Rising star Marco Ghiani has a special test he wants to pass today, when he rides a 10-year-old favourite for this apprentices’ Derby. It’s a race champion-jockey Oisin Murphy won in 2013 on his way up the ladder.

Marco has ridden 77 winners this year, including on Real World in the Royal Hunt Cup. His mount today, Berrahri, already winner of the Jump Jockeys’ Derby, is 4 out of 9 at Epsom.

Berrarhi had only to be pushed out to win that race from Aced It, who has a pull in the weights here because Marco can’t claim but Aced It’s rider, Christian Howarth, can use his 7lb.

Despite this advantage, Aced It is still a tricky bet: 1-13 on turf and 11lb higher than for his sole grass success at Doncaster at the opening meeting of the Flat season in March.

Young horses (three and four) have won six out of eight times in this race, and – with showers about and no firm prediction of the conditions on the ground – Arctic Emperor could be many a punter’s opening gambit, because he’s won on both firm and heavy.

Arctic Emperor is ridden by Joanna Mason, 36 winners this year and 4-7 at Epsom for a 57% strike rate on the course. Snag is this mile winner failed to score stepped up to 1m 2f and is now up in trip again to 1m 4f.

Sarvan has not won since breaking his maiden, always a bad sign. Byron Flyer was second here more than two years ago; since then he’s been chasing.

Going Gone, second twice at today’s trip, and the locally-trained filly Kinderfrau are maidens, Kinderfrau surprisingly favourite at Lingfield recently but badly hampered twice.

BETDAQ value 4.2 Berrahri, 13.0 Kinderfrau

SPLASH ON MEDITERRANEAN..

⭕ 3.35 The Curragh (Loughbrown Stakes) Aidan O’Brien (The Mediterranean) and Dermot Weld (Search For A Song) have shared five of the last eight winners of this.

O’Brien went 3-2 up when he won the race last year with Dawn Patrol (beat Barrington Court who needs rain today) after only sixth in the St Leger.

The Mediterranean was third to Hurricane Lane in the Doncaster Classic (Fernando Vichi seventh) and those who see him as a Cup horse for next year will want to be on this step up to 2m.

His Leger-prep second in the Great Voltigeur now also reads well, after the winner, Yibir, struck in the Belmont Jockey Club Derby, and he was better than evens in the BETDAQ exchanges this morning.

Search For A Song, the dual Irish St Leger winner, was down the field in the same race recently but those who argue the mare was short of a run this time have to explain why she was favourite.

She needs an easier surface and, like Gavin Cromwell and his Sunset Shiraz earlier, will have his trainer searching the skies for rain clouds this morning.

Lismore has climbed 18lb in the ratings since switching from England to Henry de Bromhead but has to give weight to the other two and is another who needs rain before they line-up this afternoon.

.. THE SEAS SHALL HAVE THEM

⭕ 3.55 Epsom The money has been down twice for Toronado Grey at Brighton (a win and a second), which augurs well for a return to Epsom.

Model Actress might have won but was denied a way through here at Epsom earlier in the month but, even getting more than a stone, she may not cope with Neptune Seas, another for Charlie Appleby and William Buick.

Neptune Seas scooted round a left-hand bend at Nottingham, turning over the favourite who won next time out. He’s dropped in trip but looks a strong sort who could stride clear up the hill at around 2.4 on BETDAQ.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
