PARIS: LONGCHAMP ARC TRIALS

⭕ 1.33 Longchamp (Prix Foy): A FORTUNE COOKIE welcome back for Iresine! We were told he would play worldwide instead of taking this traditional route to the Arc de Triomphe.

But here he is in the race he won last year (they couldn’t resist it, could they), trying to do the same double that Waldgeist did (2018-19) before his shock defeat of Enable in the Arc.

⭕ 2.50 Longchamp (Prix Vermeille) Looking for a FORTUNE COOKIE double with our French Classics winning filly Blue Rose Cen.

Sauterne gave Blue Rose Cen’s French 1,000 Guineas a boost – they were winner and third – when winning Tuesday’s Prix Moulin de Longchamp, slamming Big Rock and Facteur Cheval, beaten only a length and a half by Paddington in the Sussex Stakes.

Blue Rose Cen today faces Aidan O’Brien’s Yorkshire Oaks winner, Warm Heart, who beat Sea Silk Road four lengths on the Knavesmire, though that was on good to firm ground and there’s usually cut in the surface at Longchamp.

Above The Curve, who will love the ground, has been placed in three consecutive Group 1 races at the Curragh, Goodwood and Deauville without winning. Joseph O’Brien books Christophe Soumillon to try to get an edge.

⭕ 3.25 Longchamp (Prix Niel) Sotsass won this before finishing third then first in the Arc. Today’s race has three runners to guide us to the strength of Ace Impact, the Arc favourite.

The Greffulhe winner for Aidan O’Brien, Greenland, will be one guide to the chances of Ace Impact who beat him into fourth over a shorter trip in August.

Marhaa Ya Sanafi and Feed The Flame, third and fourth in the French Derby to Ace Impact, are in the line-up alongside German Derby winner Fantastic Moon.

IRELAND: CURRAGH TREBLE CHANCE

⭕ 3.25 Curragh (Moyglare Stud Stakes) Won last year by yesterday’s Dermot Weld Matron Stakes dazzler, Tahiyra, and previously by more mononymous superfillies, Love, Happily and Minding, all trained by Aidan O’Brien.

It all looks easy with hindsight but none of those well-known winners started favourite!

Losing favourites in the last eight years have included Meditate, Ballydoyle and Promise To Be True (all Aidan O’Brien), plus Pretty Gorgeous (Joseph O’Brien).

Aidan has the Frankel filly, Ylang Ylang at the front of the Betdaq Betting Exchange market this morning but hasn’t had a Moyglare favourite score since Maybe in 2011.

⭕ 4.00 Curragh (National Stakes) FORTUNE COOKIE City Of Troy is the third of four Cookies running today, short odds for a hat-trick bid after breaking his maiden over the Curragh CD and then taking the Superlative Stakes on the July Course at Newmarket, galloping right away.. to the top of the 2,000 Guineas winter market.

City of Troy’s trainer, Sidan O’Brien, won with thisthree classy favourites in a row (2014-16) including Churchill and Gleneagles.

But note that Joseph O’Brien has taken two of the last three National Stakes with 9-1 and 15-1 shots. In last year’s, Aidan’s odds-on Aesop’s Fables finished only fourth.

⭕ 4.35 Curragh (Irish St Leger): A FORTUNE COOKIE four-timer is on the cards with the return of Kyprios to defend his Curragh Leger crown of last year.

Kyprios took the Ascot Gold Cup, Goodwood Cup and French Gold Cup on ground ranging from good to firm to very soft but has been absent almost a year.

Emily Dickinson has 8lb to find with Kyprios on old form but this trip is her favourite; she’s won twice this term over 1m 6f, including the Curragh Cup.

Eldar Eldarov also failed at Cup trips but his form over today’s distance of ground is 112, including the Doncaster St Leger.
