50-POINT NAP AT 4-1 AND THE ECLIPSE 1-2-3 IN CORRECT ORDER: What a week! Daqman landed 120 points profit from 11 winners in five days (Sunday to Thursday) but saved the best until last. On Saturday, the seventh day of his winning spree, he bagged a bull’s-eye nap at 4-1 and named the 1-2-3 in the Coral-Eclipse in correct order. ‘The drinks are down to Mojito’ and ‘Enable to make magical return’. Those were the headlines. Here are the results:

DETTORI’S TOO DARN HOT FOR THEM
One more miracle, Frankie! Such is the price of fame that Dettori’s fans will demand today that he follows his feat on Enable in the Coral-Eclipse by lifting Too Darn Hot over the line at Deauville.
The Prix Jean Prat has been dropped in distance to 7f, tailor made for Too Darn Hot, so a godsend for John Gosden in his search for the right time and the right place to return the colt to the winner’s enclosure.
But clearly, as a horse with one run, Too Darn Hot needs expert jockeyship with flair and understanding of how the job needs to be done.
Enable’s Coral-Eclipse was sensational because all of racing was on the edge of its seat, waiting and wondering if she would come back the same non pareil. She did.
It was two races earlier, when Frankie won on my bull’s-eye nap, Mojito, that my own hopes of Enable turned to confidence in horse, rider and the training skills of Mr Gosden.
Mojito hadn’t been seen since October 2017 but Dettori rode him as if he knew every card in the pack and could play out the fractions as ace after ace until every other player had exhausted his hand.
2.52 Deauville (Prix Jean Prat) Last year at this time, Too Darn Hot hadn’t even seen a racecourse. His four in a row (August to October) included the Solario, Champagne and Dewhurst Stakes, raising expectations of a Classic this year.
But he’s been placed without winning in Dante, Irish Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes, in the Curragh Guineas finishing three lengths down to Phoenix Of Spain, a colt he’d beaten over 7f in the Champagne Stakes.
Now here’s Too Darn Hot dropping back to 7f to try to redeem a season for which John Gosden blames himself (’we got it all wrong’).
Space Blues is an emerging talent. Handicap winner off 93 in May, when he also won an Epsom Listed, he sent his burgeoning rating up to 112 when only just headed out of the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, confirming Epsom form with a fair benchmark Urban Icon (just over six lengths down in the Newmarket 2,000 Guineas).
Graignes was beaten three lengths in the French Guineas, improving several lengths on his nose defeat in the Prix Djebel at Maisons by Munitions but the Guineas was run in mud and he had found Munitions too tough to pass at Maisons on ground similar to today’s likely going.
Fox Champion won the German Guineas; Namos is very fast and Pure Zen was only just held in the Sandringham at Chantilly, where Azano also showed improvement to win a Group 3.
But this first running of the Jean Prat at the reduced distance of 7f seems to be Frankie Dettori’s for the taking with Too Darn Hot.
FABRE HAS LINED UP ANOTHER HERO
1.35 Deauville Shafran Mnm, unbeaten in three starts in Germany, has moved to France. Drops back a furlong here under Frankie Dettori, with the same stable also putting up Christophe Soumillion on Eagleway, a Listed winner already at Maisons but on very soft ground.
Andre Fabre also has us guessing between two. Epic Hero, around 5.5 this morning, went eight lengths clear of Eagleway at Chantilly in March, and was runner-up in the Prix Fontainebleau, Persian King’s Guineas prep. Duhail scored easily at Longchamp.
James Tate raids with Far Above, a winner already on both soft and firm, and well regarded at Newmarket. Milord’s Song went close in a Group 3 in May but that was on heavy ground.
Clive Cox’s Reticent Angel has won only on AW but is up 10lb this year, so nearly pulling off a 40-1 shock when little more than a length off winning the Scurry at Sandown last month but that was also on soft ground.
2.30 Ayr Three-year-olds are bidding for a hat-trick in this with ‘hidden horse’ Dark Lochnagar for a trainer with 34 winners this year and jockey-going-places Jason Hart. A tasty 9.6 this morning.
Dark Lochnagar won on his second start last autumn but has this year been tried in hot company (Ladbrokes Listed at Newcastle) followed by two runs over a trip too far (1m 4f).
Now dropped 5lb, back in trip and down to class 4 for Keith Dalgleish, who has won this race twice since 2013, including with a three-year-old.
3.30 Deauville It doesn’t get any easier at Deauville today! We have English, French and German fillies and mares looking for some black type over a straight mile.
I’m hoping that Frankie Dettori plays me in for a bet on Joplin. This is how: he must win or go well on Shafran Mnm in the 1.35 race, because when that one beat Joplin in Hanover, it was in receipt of 10lb.
Today Frankie not only rides Shafran Mnm, but he’s also on Joplin, so has the chance of giving himself super confidence to ride this Listed race down the nearside from the seven stall.
Roger Varian’s Contrive needs to improve but Ralph Beckett’s Di Fede ran well at Royal Ascot, and seemingly acts on most surfaces.
LACCARIO GERMAN DERBY LIKELY LAD
3.50 Hamburg (German Derby) Django Freeman was going away from Quest The Moon in the Bavarian Classic (1m 2f) in Munich, with Dschingis First running on strongly into third. Pacemaker Amiro faded into fourth.
The outsider Accon, who was fifth, went on to win the Derby Trial at Baden-Baden, with Surrey Thunder fading into third.
But in a Cologne Group 2 in June, Laccario soon had control of Django Freeman under hands and heels riding, with Dschingis First looking one paced in fourth.
