DAQMAN POWERS FURTHER AHEAD OF PRICEWISE: 55-26: Daqman tipped Hayley Turner for the Silver Saddle in Ascot’s Shergar Cup yesterday but it was Vincent Ho of the winning Rest Of The World team, with a commanding win on Power Of Darkness (WON 11-4), who sent Daqman further ahead of Pricewise (55-26) and 333 points clear of his Racing Post rival. Daqman named three winners on the day, including his supernap.

BACK-TO-BACK SUPERNAPS SO STRIKE RATE IS NOW 72%: Addeybb’s success gave Daqman back-to-back supernaps in three days after Latrobe (WON 10-11) on Thursday, taking his profit to 138 points and giving him a 72% strike rate (18-25). His latest standings are:

⚠️ HEADS UP: Addeybb gets better and loves the soft ground. The Royal Ascot winner strode clear in the Rose Of Lancaster yesterday. His trainer, William Haggas, was completing a double at Haydock and had one more on the Shergar Cup card.
Surf Dancer (2.10) and Maktabba (3.15) look set to give him another two at Leicester today. Jim Crowley and Danny Tudhope are booked, so there is no mistake.

ROMANISED HAS THE CLASS TO SCORE
3.25 Deauville (Prix Jacques Le Marois) The big yards of Fabre, Gosden and O’Brien, all winners of this in the last seven seasons, are noticeably absent today.
The three-year-olds, which have won four out of five off ratings of 115 to Kingman’s 126 or so, have Shaman officially 114 and Line Of Duty 112 as the best they can come up with.
Watch Me is a mere 104, but stood to be upgraded anywhere up to 116, the rating for Hermosa when Watch Me beat her in the Coronation Stakes, but the handicapper clearly suspects the form.
Watch Me started at 20-1 that day and Hermosa has since been a complete flop at Goodwood, while the third filly home, Jubiloso, has been beaten in a Group 3.
You could say that Iridessa, fourth to Hermosa in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, has held up the form by winning the Pretty Polly at the Curragh but she also then flopped in the Irish Oaks, a trip too far.
The second-season form all looks in and out, or distance dependent, so maybe the four-year-olds can take this, though Study of Man is a nearly horse and Romanised wouldn’t want any rain.
Apart from Pinatubo, Charlie Appleby has been in poor form, except one or two winners at a low level, but they have been followed by 222220.
So, trainer missing strike; horse, Line Of Duty, dropped back to a mile after Derby flop but declared ‘not trained on’ by form-book racereaders.
I’ll risk Romanised at 3.7 on BETDAQ. He’s classy but I needed the weatherman’s promise that rain in any quantity won’t arrive north of Paris until tomorrow.
FRENCH KING FOR BERLIN GRAND PRIX
3.50 Hoppegarten (Grosser Preis von Berlin) The Berlin Grand Prix has Godolphin and the sheikhs anxious to lay their hands on the £90,000 first prize in a world of climate change where the dominance of oil may weaken to gas (from the front end of politicians and the rear end of too many cows).
Old Persian is top rated but owes it to Group races staged by the sheikhs themselves in Meydan. In Europe, he dines out on last year’s Group 2 successes in the Edward V11 at Royal Ascot and the Great Voltigeur at York.
French-trained French King has already had back-to-back Group 2s in Germany this summer, comfortably beating home-defender Royal Youmzain in Hamburg on the last day. Royal Youmzain was third in today’s race a year ago.
The Hamburg-Hoppegarten double has been performed twice in the last three years and French King will be hard to beat.
The improver of the race is Mark Johnston’s Communique, raised 10lb since the Spring on the strength of Group-2 wins on both tracks at Newmarket but a good £200,000 in earnings behind French King, who likes to come from behind and Olivier Peslier will hope to see Communique set it up for him.
