DAQMAN HAS 64 OF 91 WINNERS: Early Morning was billed by Daqman as ‘Hayley’s Big Chance’ at 8.2 on BETDAQ. The 1-0 win extended his feature-race lead over the Racing Post value column to 64-27. The ton up in the contest should come during August.

ATTENDU EXPECTED DESPITE BETDAQ 14.5
2.15 Deauville (Prix Maurice De Gheest) Hugo Palmer launches a £379,000 double bid in the length of time it takes to a play a football match with Gifted Master in this Group-1 and Architecture in the German Oaks.
Freddy Head landed hat-tricks in Deauville masterclasses for this unusual trip between 6f and 7f with Marchand d’Or (2006-8) and Moonlight Cloud (2011-13).
But they were surrounded by English and Irish winners for Saeed bin Suroor, Richard Hannon, Aidan O’Brien, John Gosden, Tim Easterby, William Haggas, David Nicholls, Richard Fahey and Charlie Hills (with the magnificent Muhaarar last year).
Hills is back with Dutch Connection if the ground has dried out; Fahey with Donjuan Triumphant; and Gordon Lord Byron for Ireland was only a length off Muhaarar a year ago.
Gifted Master is likely to turn around Goodwood form with Dutch Connection if they meet and it remains softish, but another three-year-old, Attendu, looked smart when accounting for top-class Sun Chariot winner Esoterique and the 2015 Newmarket Guineas runner-up Territories on today;s course in June. Territories beat Dutch Connection over a mile a year or so ago.
Attendu, always ridden by Maxime Guyon, beats Damila (on a line through Love Spirit), and was a huge 14.5 in the BETDAQ orange this morning.
Gold-Fun, runner-up in the Golden Jubilee, was hot favourite but is another who wants the going on top. Much depends on the ground for him and for Dutch Connection but, as a first position, it’s Attendu at the value price.
3.35 The Curragh (Phoenix Stakes) Impressive winner of the Coventry Stakes, Caravaggio looks unbackable for my Two-Year-Old Ten To Follow.
4.05 The Curragh Air Force Blue got mangled in a big field for the July Cup. His problem this time is that he’s a hold-up horse in a small field, in which three – Eastern Impact, Jamesie and Toscanini – have all front-run. Does he have the legs to stay with them?
Toscanini was the ‘moral’ in this last year, giving a pound and beaten a short-head by a 114 rated.
He has only 110 (Eastern Impact) to beat this time around, if you leave out Air Force Blue. And Shamrock says you can! I certainly prefer 7.4 Toscanini to 2.22 Air Force Blue.
In fact, I can do better than that for a place Toscanini, which is tantamount to 2.96 to finish second to Air Force Blue.
3.45 Dusseldorf (German Oaks) Hugo Palmer’s Architecture, runner-up to Minding in both the Epsom and Curragh Oaks, tries to make it third time lucky at great expense – a £50,000 supplementary fee – in the German Oaks this afternoon. Simply nothing of her class in this.
BECKETT MAKES SHORT WORK OF THESE
2.10 Windsor Henry Candy who won this in 2014 with a colt making his third maiden appearance, looks set to do the same again with Angel Down.
Angel Down was within a head and two necks of the Robert Papin winner, Tis Marvelous, at Newbury on the last day of June.
But ‘it’s not what beats you but what you beat’ is an old racing adage and, additionally, Angel Down is drawn wide, so reduce stakes. On the other hand, all three of Candy’s runners in this race have reached the frame.
3.20 and 4.20 Chelmsford Punters seem to have seen through Bint Dandy’s heavy disguise. The champion jockey riding for Chris Dwyer has around a 30% record in the last four seasons.
Bint Dandy loves Chelmsford, and you can forget his turf runs on the soft (including a Group 2) and over the wrong trip.
Silvestre De Sousa is also brought in to get a win out of Ms Gillard (4.20). Roman Holiday is a glass horse and I’d lay her at odds on.
4.10 Windsor Three-year-olds have a weight pull of near on a stone and more, and Short Work (4.2 in the BETDAQ orange this morning) seems to have been crying out for the mile.
Trainer Ralph Beckett is 4-7 on the course in races of this type and, when Oisin Murphy has ridden for Beckett, they have had a 50% strike-rate.
