20-1 BRONZE: THEN IT’S 25.0 GOLD: Daqman pocketed two cups out of three in a truly Olympic effort to land the Ayr sprint triple when he bagged yesterday’s Ayr Gold Cup with 25.0 BETDAQ bet Brando (WON 11-1), following the Bronze on Friday at 20-1 SP. He just missed out on the Silver by half a length:

WON 25.0 GOLD Brando 11-1 SP
2nd 14.5 (Silver) Get Knotted 17-2
WON 20-1 BRONZE Classic Seniority

DAQMAN LEADS PRICEWISE 78-32: Daqman was giving Pricewise of the Racing Post a 3-0 Ayr drubbing to take the score this season to Daqman 78 returns, Pricewise 32. He opened the meeting with Secret Number (WON 6-1 from 12.5 on BETDAQ) and only last Saturday landed another big sprint, the Portland, with Captain Colby (WON 6-1 from 10.0 on BETDAQ).

WATCH THIS SPACE FOR ANOTHER ACE! Today we celebrate Daqman’s biggest of his big-odds, big-value BETDAQ winners going back to the Ayr Gold Cup win of 2012. Though an 80.0 offer was an amazing wild card, he rates 50.0 Rule The World as his best ever. But watch this space for another ace! There’s more to come.

DISCIPLINE HUB OF TRIPLE WHAMMY

3.20 Gowran Park Three-year-olds have near enough swept the board in this fillies’ Group 3 (currently 9 from 10).

That’s been spotted by Marco Botti, who sends over Aljazzi from Newmarket, bidding to revive the stable fortunes (the last fortnight’s win returns 1-13).

Botti made a decent start to the season but has faded to a low, low 8% strike rate on turf, with only 11-141. That’s half his total for the whole of last season and not a patch on his 2014 overall 88 winners.

Aljazzi won a Listed at Haydock in early August but, in the 43 days since that success, the 12 horses that finished behind her have all failed to score.

Jim Bolger (0-28), who runs two, is also in the doldrums and Aidan O’Brien has failed to find a winning opportunity for How High The Moon since she won her maiden at the first time of asking (always a bad sign).

There seems no reason why the Moon should rise above Famous Name’s sister, Discipline, who beat her comfortably in the Oaks Trial at Naas in June.

In fact, the handicapper says she’s gone backwards (by 3lb) and now trails Discipline by about three lengths if the revised ratings are to be believed.

Discipline’s trainer also runs Sea Swift but it’s a big step up from winning in a bog at Sligo, though Pat Smullen got off that day and said: ‘There’s a lot more to come.’

However, Pat’s switch to Discipline, who is hooded first time, suggests that the favourite is very much first choice.

The soft ground will suit Sir Michael Stoute’s Intimation (trainer has won the race twice before) but we assume that Ryan Moore doesn’t think it’s worth getting out of bed for. Perhaps he wants his Sunday lunch for a change.

There’s not much sport to be had today, so I shall go for a triple whammy here. We’ll try to get Aljazzi beaten out of the frame, back 3.2 Discipline to win and Intimation for a place (10.5 as I write).

4.20 Gowran Park Last year’s winner of this, Annie Irish, obviously had problems afterwards.

But she was brought back with two quick runs in August, as if being primed for a repeat here this afternoon. The 9.2 on BETDAQ this morning made her worth a flutter.

4.50 Gowran Park Similarly, Daliyan was a Gowran CD winner at this time last year and he, too, has had just the two runs back in 2016.

Interesting to see Domnnacha O’Brien in the saddle for this apprentice handicap, with 13.5 offers available as I write.
