FITZELLA SEEING DOUBLE

⭕ 1.33 Deauville (Prix du Calvados): Simmering was too darn hot and won this for England (Ollie Sangster) last year after winning the Princess Margaret at Royal Ascot.

This year’s Ascot race was won for the second year running by a Too Darn Hot filly, Fitzella (Hugo Palmer), and today she tries to complete the double within a double by taking the Calvados.

One-two here three weeks ago, My Highness and Ceramic, for the home team, are also challenged by Nandita, John and Thady Gosden’s Blue Point filly who finished behind Fitzella in the Albany.

BILLY A GREAT CHIEFTAIN

⭕ 1.50 Goodwood: Great Chieftain steadily piled on 23lb in the ratings with five wins from last May to this and Billy Loughnane is booked for a happy return at 7.8 this morning.

On the other hand, Mister Winston has progressed slowly until just now hit with a 10lb rise for making all on the July Course – yet the two placed horses have both been losers since their novice days.

Gladius yesterday boosted the form of (5.8 offer) Linwood, less than two lengths behind him at the Glorious Goodwood meeting and back a furlong today to his winning trip.

A Goodwood Group-3 winner, Epictetus has plunged 19lb in the ratings but needs rain. Treble Tee could improve for wind ops.

⭕ 2.25 Goodwood: Aidan O’Brien’s Precise seems sure to be favourite for this but Cheveley Park’s Moon Target has bolted up, heavily punted in minor races in the Sir Mark Prescott manner of a sequence horse.

CAN’T CATCH OUTFIELDER

⭕ 2.50 Deauville (Prix Morny): Aidan O’Brien goes for his third Morny in four seasons (number six altogether) with Gstaad but Outfielder, who has his ground, would be a fourth for Wesley Ward and 6.0 looked too big this morning.

It’s quite a meeting of the Morny clan, with Coppull for Clive Cox, who won the race the year before Ward famously opened his scoring with No Nay Never (2013).

Karl Burke, the 2017 winner, saddles Venetian Sun, whose form was franked in the Lowther by her July Course runner-up, American Queen.

Gstaad had Coppull back in third in the Coventry won by Gstaad, but – with the exception of Rock On Thunder and Power Blue – others behind are getting beaten.

And Wise Approach (Charlie Appleby) stormed clear of subsequent Gimcack runner-up Rock On Thunder in the Irish Rose Bowl at Newbury. Godolphin won the 2019 running, trained Andre Fabre.

JONQUIL’S BACK IN BLOOM

⭕ 3.35 Goodwood (Celebration Mile): With Andrew Balding in devastating form (never so brave!), he’s booked Colin Keane for Jonquil’s return to a mile. Betdaq Betting Exchange 4.5 taken.

The Greenham winner ran second in the French 2,000 Guineas before short of room when asked to cope with Group-1 speed merchants in the Commonwealth Cup, then drawn wide here at Goodwood in the Lennox.

Make Me King doesn’t know how to run a bad race but, though now five, has won only at Listed level, and that includes the so-called Presidents Cup at Abu Dhabi.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
