AHAA! DAQMAN BAGS EBOR WINNER AT BETDAQ 28.0: Daqman landed a stunning 189-point gamble on the Ebor Handicap yesterday and then thanked amazing BETDAQ morning value of 28.0 about the winner, his ‘hidden horse’ of the race, Muntahaa (WON 11-1). ‘BETDAQ backers and layers have the best of both worlds,’ he says.

90-1 ONE-TWO WITH RUNNER-UP AT DOUBLE THE SP: As well as the winner, Daqman had the Ebor second, win and place, at almost double the SP on BETDAQ (part of a near 90-1 forecast with Ladbrokes) and he also bagged a third at 16-1 in the Ladbrokes Handicap at Goodwood.

WON 11.0 MUNTAHAA (from 28.0 on BETDAQ)
2ND 15-2 WEEKENDER (same race from 15.0 BETDAQ)
3RD 16-1 LAKE VOLTA, Ladbrokes Handicap Goodwood

FIVE NEEDED FOR 100 POINTS AGAINST PRICEWISE: Daqman’s score against Pricewise of the Racing Post is now 65-22 (plus 95 to minus 93 SP to single-point level stakes).

HYDRANGEA’S SISTER HUGE AT 14.5

2.35 The Curragh (Debutante Stakes) Aidan O’Brien has won this four years out of five and six times in the decade, a list of famous names with Rhododendron among the most recent.

As ever, he gives himself several chances today, with the 1.6m-guineas yearling Zagitova (Galileo out of a Kyllachy mare), well fancied in the BETDAQ market over Flattering’s sister Peach Tree and Hydrangea’s sister Hermosa, both by Galileo out of a different Pivotal mare.

On breeding alone, we can expect at least one of them to make the grade. All three won second time on a racetrack.

Hermosa, a hampered fourth to Peach Tree on her debut, showed an eye-catching turn of foot on the last day and looked huge at 14.5 this morning from a good draw.

KLUTE 9.0 VALUE AGAINST VAN DYCK

3.05 The Curragh (Futurity) After the fillies in the Debutante come the two-year-old colts for a race which has thrown up even bigger names, among them Gleneagles and Churchill.

The Ballydoyle success story in this one (11 wins for Aidan O’Brien) goes back to Giant’s Causeway (1999), which seems only yesterday.

Like Hermosa behind Peach Tree, Anthony Van Dyck came on from his debut behind Klute (Guaranteed second) to score twice with ease, on the last day only hands and heels riding required to land the Tyros from an earlier big-field winner at Leopardstown.

I think there’s some tongue-in-cheek in Jessica Harrington’s comment to the Racing Post: ‘The form of Klute’s win is working out well!’

There are five last-day winners in all for this must-see race. Five odds-on winners of this in nine years, and Anthony Van Dyck is already rated 112.

He seems to have made up and overtaken the near five lengths that Klute beat him by, but 9.0 Klute makes it worthwhile being contrary.

LOXLEY LOOKS GRAND FOR APPLEBY

3.55 Deauville (Grand Prix) An English raider has won this only once in the decade, via Mark Johnston’s Jukebox Jury.

But Sylvester Kirk (Salouen) and Charlie Appleby (Loxley) have two on the turntable here with big chances.

Salouen’s not been on song for two years now, at least as far as winning is concerned. He who dares hasn’t won, and I’m not so sure that his Coronation Cup head defeat by Cracksman looks so good any more.

Cracksman himself is under a cloud and the nearly horses behind them that day have all failed to score since. Sa,ouen is now a bridesmaid with figures of 233234.

Way To Paris looks stuck in traffic, another bridesmaid: 232423. So I’ll chance Charlie Appleby’s Loxley. Outpaced by Wells Farrh Go on firm at Newbury but reveled in the soft ground here at Deauville on the last day, and well backed into around 7-4.

HAMLUL RATES THE NAP ON FORM

3.00 Goodwood (Ladbrokes Handicap) Alan King, who had a winner at Goodwood yesterday, has a consistent sort in Beringer, too consistent for his own good in handicaps (up 20lb this year). Escalator is 16lb higher.

So it seems worth dropping your eyes down the card, which you can’t do in many handicaps these days, and checking out those in receipt of chunks of weight from the recent winners.

Knight Errant narrowly beat Jack Regan at Sandown (pair nine lengths clear) and is a very determined character. There is collateral form with Hamlul.

In receipt of 12lb Jack Regan pipped a horse called Everything For You at Nottingham. Hamlul (rec 13lb) went clear of Everything For You at Beverley.

On the strength of that, the handicapper will probably be wishing he’d given the improver Hamlul a couple of pounds more. Well backed favourite this morning but still just around 2-1 as I write. Nap.

IT’S A DREAM DRAW FOR DREAMS

4.10 Goodwood (Supreme Stakes) Hamlul’s Michael Stoute stablemate Dream of Dream has been drawn to attack from the one stall and will be hard to pass.

He led until the final furlong a grade higher in the Hungerford against Sir Dancealot, who could bid for a Group-2 hat-trick at Doncaster next month. Breton Rock was third.

Dutch Connect on has been well behind Sir Dancealot the last twice but Dancing Star’s Goodwood form is 112 (unlucky last time) and the unexposed Guineas eighth Raid has been waiting for cut in the ground.

It’s a fascinating contest, and I need two against the field (thanks to the 106% BETDAQ overround that’s not a problem): 4.6 Dream of Dreams and 9.8 Dancing Star
