DAQMAN SPOTS BIG BETDAQ VALUE NAP AT 5.9 AT GOODWOOD: The Sunday season on ITV continues today. Let’s hope they don’t give me a reason to switch over, leaving Weaver as past tense in the 2.25 Goodwood, says Daqman, who naps for value at BETDAQ 5.9 in the last race on terrestrial TV at 3.35.

HOLLIE’S FISHING AT YARMOUTH
⚠️ HEADS UP: Look behind you Frankie Dettori, man what are you about! Hollie Doyle was hot on the trail of Frankie’s magnificent seven at Ascot with an 899-1 five-timer at Windsor yesterday.
Hollie is at Yarmouth this afternoon, where her six rides include Little Brown Trout (5.10), bidding to maintain a 100% record (2-2) for trainer William Stone.
She has ridden 87 winners (Turf and AW) this year, five behind Oisin Murphy, five in front of Tom Marquand.
JUST FOLLOW THE FAVOURITES?
Don’t be fooled. They changed the going at Goodwood yesterday from heavy, soft in places, to soft, heavy in places.
That turned out to be purely cosmetic as the conditions actually deteriorated from times slow between 5.5 seconds and 5.9 seconds to slow from 12.8 and 14.7 and 18.3 in later races. From clods and divots to mud pie.
Today is supposedly soft-heavy, mostly sunny; so now we’re talking sticky-toffee pudding to start a nine-race card. Keep your stakes low.
Take an early value price here and there but be prepared to follow the market all day. Five of the first six races yesterday had a winner’s SP from 13-8 to 11-4.
At Newmarket, seven of the eight races recorded SPs of between 15-8 and 5-1. At Windsor, six winners started 11-4 or 3-1.
⭕ 1.50 Goodwood (Ladbrokes’ Fillies Handicap) Ice Sprite has improved a stone in back-to-back wins, the second leg at Windsor on the soft.
Urban Artist also won at Windsor the last day; that was in a lower grade but she could be a steal this if they make plenty of use of her, as suggested by her Listed bumper (NH Flat race) win at Cheltenham (soft) last backend. BETDAQ 4.4 taken.
SCARDURA HANDICAPPING FLAW
⭕ 2.05 Perth Scardura is one of a party of seven being sent up from Bath by Neil Mulholland. He has a 22% strike rate at Perth, and Scardura jumped well on the last day.
He split a pair rated 135 and 137, when second in his first novice chase at Stratford (good to soft, as it is here) and, because that was a novice event, the handicapper is unable to change his 127 rating.
Guardia Top, an experienced young hurdler, tried to make all over further at Market Rasen, on her first chasing experience. This 2m could suit but she is still only four.
Global Tour got the better of an experienced sort at Bangor but not before making several mistakes, and Scardura got my vote at BETDAQ 2.5.
WOVEN WORRIES THE CHAIRMAN
⭕ 2.25 Goodwood (Ladbrokes Handicap) Atalanta’s Boy has scored here on heavy but his solid form in June now has him nearly a stone higher, and he was out the back in the Stewards Cup here, after missing the break.
Chairmanoftheboard (BETDAQ 4.5 taken) is another CD winner on the soft, also up in the weights since June, but seemingly able to cope, a comfortable winner on the July Course and then fifth in the Stewards Cup, second home in his group.
Brian The Snail was third in the Stewards Cup but all his form in the last four years is on top of the ground.
Alaadel is a third CD winner on soft, 3lb lower than when beaten three lengths or so in the Coral Sprint at York last backend (Louie De Palma just in front of him) and only recently back on the track at Chester (not a penny for him at 40-1).
The overnight punt was Woven (but still 13.0 on BETDAQ this morning). Staying on fourth in soft ground on the July Course three weeks back behind Chairmanoftheboard: dropped 3lb and now has a 9lb turnaround with the winner.
TAKING TWO TO MASTER IMADA
⭕ 3.15 Perth (Perth Gold Cup) Peter Bowen has won this twice with lightweights in the last eight years, but sends up More Buck’s from Welsh Wales, with the stable struggling on 0-15 in the last 23 days. Maybe cheekpieces will help put more buck into the 10-year-old.
After The Young Master (BETDAQ 7.9) had wind surgery a couple of years back, he won twice and was third in the Kim Muir. More help from the surgeon may land him a place today, with the ground in his favour.
Fortune’s Hiding has also had more wind surgery since beating Boys On Tour here at Perth (2m 4f). ‘Boys’ has won on the course again since.
To get a mighty swipe of a stone extra from the handicapper might stop the late-developing 10-year-old Imada after his 15-lengths romp at Bangor (Soupy Soups well in rear).
But, though attracting 4lb extra, As You Like’s win at Southwell, first time at 3m, suggests that he’s unexposed at the trip. BETDAQ 5.8 a good first position.
A SOFT TOUCH AT BETDAQ 12.0
⭕ 3.25 Deauville (Grand Prix de Deauville) Ziyad, who has won or been placed 15 times in 19 starts, won this last year on good ground; today is ‘very soft.’
Hughie Morrison’s Telecaster has never really lived up to his Dante defeat of Too Darn Hot last year, and has never raced on worse than good to soft.
Ed Dunlop has found that 1m 6f is the ideal trip for Red Verdon, with back-to-back wins in Listed and Group 2 this summer.
French ace rider Pierre-Charles Boudot (144 winners this year) is called in to land the hat-trick but he’s dropped in trip again now and, though he’s seven years old, has avoided the mud in 22 starts since second at Doncaster (soft) nearly three years ago.
I shall have my euro on Soft Light, big value 12.0 in the BETDAQ Sportsbook this morning.
Beaten only half a length, staying on, by Ziyad last year, and beaten favourite twice this year, so obviously still highly regarded when the Jean-Claude Rouget stable was out of form. Rouget is now striking at 35%.
TAKING A BITE OF 5.9 ESCOBAR
⭕ 3.35 Goodwood (Ladbrokes Supreme Stakes) David O’Meara was back with a winner at Goodwood yesterday after a long, lean spell.
Escobar also made the journey from ‘Emsley’ in Yorkshire, narrowly top rating. If he is anywhere near the same horse that beat Lord North in the Balmoral at Ascot (heavy) last backend, he must go close in this.
Escobar had been third in the Goodwood Mile on firm going, and not disgraced (despite biting his tongue) in a Group 3 at York.
Happy Power won on the soft at York 14 months ago and was back to form the last day, after running fourth to D’bai when Snazzy Jazzy was third at Haydock in July. But for me BETDAQ 5.9 Escobar is outstanding.
