MOON SHINE AS IRISH SUPERNAP

IRISH trainers are dominating everywhere; not just Cheltenham and Aintree. Dr Richard Newland tells the Racing Post that, when he raised it with them, the British Horseracing Authority ‘didn’t seem aware of the levels’.

It used to be that the Press talked about the Newland stable near Worcester raiding the North and Scotland; he was the king of low-grade handicaps. Not any more.

⭕ 2.30 Kelso Navan trainer Gavin Cromwell has horses across the spectrum; he can take championship races at Cheltenham and he has logged up winners at Ayr, Cartmel, Chepstow, Doncaster, Fakenham and Hexham

Here he is today at Kelso with fellow Co Meath trainer John McConnell jointly planning to take this novice hurdler from trainer-in-form Lucinda Russell.

Her bumper winner Esprit Du Potier is little better than evens, which makes Dutch Schultz (Cromwell at 3.95) and Duleek Street (McConnell at 6.1 Betdaq Betting Exchange) backable at split stakes to show their ability over hurdles already, both having won their maiden in August.

Duleek Street did it by 10 lengths, raiding Cartmel after finishing 13 lengths behind Dutch Schultz at Wexford.

⭕ 4.00 Kelso McConnell’s Dripsey Moon (4.00), a top-quality Pointer in Ireland, was impressive in beating a 117-rated compatriot over hurdles, both raiding Perth.

He looks supernap material to turn over another Lucinda Russell debutant, Cadell, despite giving 7lb to the field.

Meetmeinthemorning and Lavida Adiva are Points winners who ‘could be anything’ at this stage but will have to be something to eclipse Dripsey Moon.

⭕ 4.15 Uttoxeter There are no Newlands traveling up to Kelso today but Dr Richard himself might gain compensation with his four-times chase winner at this level, Rose Sea Has, who has gone well fresh.

However, I just prefer General Medrano whose stable is in form (Emma Lavelle 2-9) and who makes this move into chases after cracking performances at Challenge Cup and Championship Final level over hurdles.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
