But it was the way Daqman continued his naps sequence yesterday; choosing to do it with a 6-1 hit (8.95 BETDAQ XSP), Copperhead, who won the Reynoldstown Chase 17 lengths. His naps run now reads 112111, taking his level-stakes all-naps profit to 142 points:

BALLYOPTIC BOOKS NATIONAL PLACE
‘A National in the mud would suit him’. That was the stable comment after Ballyoptic booked his place at Aintree, galloping relentlessly to the line at Ascot yesterday.
It would also suit BETDAQ backers who took the 41.0 offered yesterday. He was down to 25-1 with nine bookmakers in Oddschecker this morning.
Valtor (second yesterday) and Regal Encore (third) found the winner too strong and it may be a line to form that Regal Encore was seventh in the National when Tiger Roll completed his double.
Ballyoptic, who beat Elegant Escape in the Charlie Hall in November, was going well enough when he fell last year. Yesterday’s success was his first run since that National.
Elegant Escape was out to 43.0 for Aintree in BETDAQ exchange offers this morning, after getting lost in the mud of the Haydock Trial yesterday.
The Trial runner-up, Lord Du Mesnil, was 47.0 and the third horse home, Yala Enki, 33.0. Vintage Clouds, who was a poor fifth, was out to 60.0.
Offers and prices may change again this afternoon after Tiger Roll and Magic Of Light, last year’s Aintree one-two, meet in the Boyne Hurdle.
LIGHT FANTASTIC TO TRIP THE TIGER
1.50 Navan (Ladbrokes Ireland Boyne Hurdle) The price of the century. That was surely the 25-1 SP about Tiger Roll in the Boyne Hurdle at Navan a year ago today, when he won his first prep for the Grand National double.
Tiger Roll is back there this afternoon with the the treble bid at Aintree confirmed. That would make him the greatest of modern times and arguably of all time.
Red Rum won the National three times but, after his double, he twice ran second before returning to the Liverpool winner’s enclosure in 1977. The hat-trick has never been done.
Cheltenham Gold Cup winner War Of Attrition came to win the Boyne Hurdle as an old man of 11 in 2010 but it was still a big surprise that a Grand National winner over 36 furlongs and 30 fences could drop back to hurdles over 21 furlongs and win. Can Tiger Roll do it again today?
Jessica Harrington says ‘anything you can do’ and pits last year’s National runner-up, Magic Of Light, against him. Hardly a revenge mission, if Tiger Roll is ‘not yet ready to give his best’, according to a Gigginstown spokesman.
Magic Of Light is also a course winner (in a bumper) and was a distance winner when she won an Opportunity handicap series final at the Punchestown festival in April, 2017. She’s recently won a Grade-2 mares hurdle at Ascot.
The mare will get 12lb from Tiger Roll at Aintree which, in theory, is enough to turn around her 2.75-lengths defeat last year in receipt of 8lb, but she was always being held that day.
The market says that Kilfenora is a bigger danger to Tiger Roll this afternoon. He’s been winner twice and third in a big field in his last three hurdles, all Grade B, the most recent here at Navan, when he beat Alfa Mix, Tara Hurdle winner on the same course.
Alfa Mix is highly regarded by Gavin Cromwell as a potential Coral Hurdle winner at Cheltenham, yet Kilfenora was able to resist him on the Navan run-in, even though he was giving away 10lb in a handicap.
Penhill is 3lb behind Tiger Roll in the ratings but gets 5lb here, despite being a dual Cheltenham Festival winner over hurdles (Albert Bartlett and Stayers Hurdle).
But Penhill needs to bounce back after poor form since runner-up to Faugheen in the Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle at Punchestown 2018.
Bachasson hasn’t run since being fourth to Tiger Roll in this last year after beating Darasso at Punchestown in receipt of 8lb. They are tied more closely together today.
Verdict Tiger Roll had jumped round in a cross-country before winning this last year but this is his reappearance run after an operation. Magic Of Light has been in fine form in the last couple of months but is already rated hurdling inferior to the improver, Kilfenora, owned by J P McManus and trained at the Curragh.
Kilfenora has had back-to-back wins on today’s track but his light career is a worry. It seems to have been established that he needs long breaks between races. Here’s his profile, according to the Racing Post:

If he loses, the Press will say that there wasn’t enough time between races. If he wins, they’ll say: ah, clever placing has kept him on the improve!
We just don’t know until the fat lady sings, after a potentially exciting contest that we hope will brighten up our stormy Sunday.
MULTIPLE KEMPTON WINNER ALL YOURS
3.25 Kempton Two class-2 races here after the track passed a morning inspection. This one, just short of a mile and a half, has Entangling bidding for 3-3 on the course, the first one for Chris Wall, then a gap of two years without a run until scoring for David Elsworth last November.
The first of them was class 4, then class 3 for ‘Elzie’ and finally he won at Lingfield just before Christmas in a class 2, and now he’s an outsider for the Winter Derby. But he’s been pipped at Lingfield the last twice, up a total of 13lb.
Blinkers are back on Deal A Dollar, who is dropped back to his winning trip but may still be a few pounds too high.
Sky Defender was given an 11lb smacking by the handicapper for winning over shorter at Lingfield. Richard Hughes’s Calling The Wind is up in grade and it’s not like Sir Mark Prescott to let winners slip through his hands.
All Yours has Kempton form of 11131 from 1m 3f to 2m, all when the surface has been riding slow, as it is today. I took BETDAQ 5.5.
3.55 Kempton Rainbow Dreamer is up a total of 13lb after a hat-trick here, including two on a slow surface. King ‘s Advice won his only start here on a slow surface.
But there should be much more to come from a four-year-old against the older horses, with Pierre-Charles Boudot over for the ride on Chipiron, a multiple winner in France including on the Deauville AW track. Massive at 11.0 on BETDAQ.
