CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN: Daqman has three Sunday bets from the jumps cards at Lingfield and Fakenham on the penultimate day of racing before the Christmas break.
SET FAIR: No weather problems reported for the bumper Boxing Day schedule of 11 meetings including the King George card at Kempton Park.
DIAMOND SET TO SPARKLE
⭕ 2.00 Lingfield Emphasis will be on stamina for this two mile seven furlong handicap hurdle run on likely good to soft ground.
There are two previous course and distance winners including Icaque de L’Isle who could only finish fifth when favourite at Huntingdon last time out in a lower grade than this. Whilst he was impressive when winning over C&D it came on heavy ground and he is now 5lb higher in the weights.
Block Rockin Beatts showed a little more when fourth at Kempton last time out. He was highly tried in his first few starts and this could be more his level but the softer ground is more of a concern. He was last of six, beaten 93 lengths, when last tried on good to soft.
Diamond Geezer looks the percentage call on Betdaq Betting Exchange and the Olly Murphy trained runner shouldn’t lack for stamina having stayed on well when winning over 2m 4f two starts ago. This trip is new for him but all then evidence suggests he should be fine.
CHANCING POOR MACKLEY
⭕ 3.15 Fakenham I’n not keen on possible market leader Lady Harriet here. She was a well beaten third when sent off favourite at Ffos Las last time out on her first start for trainer Mickey Bowen.
Girl Of Gold remains a maiden but showed enough when third at Leicester last time out to get competitive here. Her jumping does need to improve though.
At bigger odds I’ll go with Pooroldmackley who scored at Worcester in August and then looked stretched over a longer trip at Newton Abbot last time out. Unlike most of his rivals he knows how to win a race.
LEDGEND OF A NAP
⭕ 3.30 Lingfield I’m sticking with the Olly Murphy yard at Lingfield for today’s nap Little Ledgend who can halt the winning run of Low Expectations.
Little Ledgend is a significant class dropper having shaped well on handicap debut in a class 3 at Windsor last time out. He was still competitive at the final flight that day and with the handicapper dropping him a pound and the trainer dropping him two grades he looks to have an outstanding chance.
Low Expectations completed a handicap hat-trick when winning at Plumpton at the beginning of this month and it’s hard to know whether the 8lb rise will now anchor his progress. This does looks a little tougher though and his trainer Nick Gifford is 0-9 over the last fortnight.
