BIG ROCK CAN BOUNCE BACK

⭕ 3.33 Longchamp (Prix du Moulin, 1m good to soft, Group 1) Despite a barn of only 28 horses, just one fifth of those stabled by each of Jean-Claude Rouget and Andre Fabre, Christopher Head could hit the €3m earnings mark for the French season today.

The son of Freddy Head and grandson of Alec, the fifth-generation of the Heads is trainer of champion filly Blue Rose Cen and wants another Group 1 for his best colt at Longchamp worth €220k.

He saddles the hopes of the Classic generation in the Moulin with Big Rock, whose winning sequence was cut short at four when beaten by Ace Impact, the Arc favourite and potentially colt of the year for Rouget.

Big Rock made all over nine furlongs last time he raced at Longchamp, where Freddy Head won the Moulin nine years ago.

Kelina and Sauterne, two of the three other three-year-olds in the field today were one-two in the Prix de Sandringham (Group 2) at Chantilly in early June.

Of the older runners, Erevann (Rouget) was almost six lengths off Big Rock when they were second and sixth behind Inspiral in the Jacques Le Marois at Deauville the last day.

Facteur Cheval was beaten four lengths by Erevann in a Group 2 on Arc day last year and he continues with near misses this year (form figures 2232), though the last one, second to Paddington in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood (soft), could be marked up, as he’d been missing since third in the Prix d’Ispahan in May.

However, with Paris starting a heat-wave, Facteur Cheval is unlikely to get his ground this afternoon. It’s fine for Fast Raaj but he is basically Listed level, with his best Group-3 form winning a slow-run race of only four runners at Chantilly.

HONEY FOR TEA AT TIPPERARY

⭕ 3.45 Tipperary (Group-3 fillies and mares, 7.5f): There’s another clash of the generations in this Coolmore-sponsored event, held for them last year by Joseph O’Brien with their filly Agartha.

He is their protagonist again today with three chances but none of them of the Classic generation.

For a five-year-old to win it, like his Statement or Miramis, is a 10-1 chance on the race stats.

And, in fact, his shorter-priced of the three, is Honey Girl, aged four, who has vastly improved on her form with Agartha.

Honey Girl was only sixth when Agartha won this last year but beat her in the Athasi Stakes at the Curragh in the Spring, going clear.

At that time of year, the three-year-old Matilda Picotte was hot, including third to Mawj in the Newmarket 1,000 Guineas.

She has lost her form since but there are excuses: dropped to 6f, then back from a holiday when she weakened out of a Group 3 at Goodwood.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 3.2 Honey Girl

IT’S FATHER AND SON MAGIC..

⭕ 2.10 and 2.45 Worcester: I rarely venture over Jumps during the summer months but the Flat fare is modest away from the features at Longchamp and Tipperary.

And I really should try to cash in on the Bowens’ winning spree, with trainer Peter on a 28% strike rate and Sean on 27%, ‘miles’ clear in the jockeys’ table, with 74 winners to champion Brian Hughes’ 46.

The Bowens should take the main event, a handicap chase at 2.45, with the consistent hurdler Saxon Queen, now switching to fences, with first-time cheekpieces. BETDAQ 4.8.

Despite the highest number of rides (276), Sean not only has the high strike rate but shows a level-stakes profit, which I would find quite remarkable if I wasn’t also staring at Sam Twiston-Davies’s phenomenal £47 profit.

Sam, who rides 3.2 BETDAQ offer Jet Of Magic in the 2.10, is also the punters’ friend, and his sole mount today, trained by Nigel, can make a winning chase debut. Yes, it’s another potential father-and-son strike.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
