SUPERNAP AND 13.0 FORTUNE COOKIE BUT WARNING FROM DAQMAN: Beware of change is Daqman’s warning today, as Jumps racing goes at the double with the Desert Orchid Silver Cup at Wincanton (good to firm, showers) and the Old Roan Chase at Aintree (heavy). The early-bird Fortune Cookie was 13.0 on BETDAQ this morning. Bryony Frost, who won on Frodon yesterday, has the burden of a supernap.

WEMBLEY WITHDRAWN BUT FINALE HAS STILL TO COME: Heavy ground yesterday ruled out Futurity favourite, Wembley, the likely final Fortune Cookie for the Flat. Look out for the Flat’s final flings and the first NH Cookies list. What will Aidan O’Brien run in the Breeders Cup?
VENETIA’S PUTTING ON THE STYLE
⚠️ HEADS UP Change is the punter’s enemy. Change of season; change of weather. They put those week-long winning sequences of mine out of reach; we simply don’t know how horses will perform, and that headline should read: ‘Is Venetia putting on the style?’
Daqman will continue trying to eliminate the negative, find the positive and apply the equation to the always-value offers in the BETDAQ Betting Exchange. Good luck!
⭕ 1.22 Aintree Trainer Venetia Williams has just had a winner after a very quiet time with her horses, and today’s entry recognises that One Style prefers flat tracks.
Ten-year-olds win most of these veterans’ chases; they are 8-10 in this one, most of them winning from 11st 1lb or lower.
That’s where you’ll find One Style, who has won the last twice after a break, and was five in a row until he fell in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham after taking a clear lead at one stage.
Minellacelebration, an Aintree CD winner on this Mildmay Course, has also won after a break and will like the ground.
Vintage Clouds is an old friend of mine but Sue Smith’s yard has not shown any form lately (0-16): her last seven to finish have trailed in a total of 423 lengths behind; another in among them was pulled up.
Don Poli hasn’t won under rules for nearly five years. Vieux Lion Rouge has scored six times after a break but David Pipe’s yard is currently 1-22.
Sametegal hasn’t won since 2016 but ran well at Kempton in February, and Paul Nicholls’ team is celebrating the fantastic round by Frodon yesterday. To think I deserted my old favourite Fortune Cookie!
Brother Tedd will be fancied but Philip Hobbs is 1-35, so I’m having One Style fits all! BETDAQ 8.0 taken.
13.0 CAN BE LUCKY FOR ANNIE Mc
⭕ 1.57 Aintree (Old Roan Chase) Frodon has been among the quality horses to win this, Paul Nicholls taking it twice in the last five years.
His six-year-old Magic Saint has tried Cheltenham three times without getting a place; otherwise he’s 121 still standing on flat tracks, though has never won this far.
Itchy Feet was probably a shade lucky to take the Scilly Isles Chase at Sandown in February when the favourite pulled up but that result is not one to knock. It’s Grade 1 and was won last year by subsequent Tingle Creek and Cheltenham star, Defi Du Seul.
Itchy Feet beat Midnight Shadow three-and-a-half lengths that day and is now 5lb worse off but Midnight Shadow’s yard is currently 0-16.
Nigel Twiston-Davies isn’t doing any great shakes either, but Crievehill won his first two races on his return last backend, though struggled afterwards with up to 10lb extra.
Vision des Flos’ only chase success was in beating one other on heavy ground in January; current stable record 1-23.
Old Grangewood came to form with back-to-back wins at Newbury and Cheltenham last winter. But, oh dear, that was after five failed attempts here at Aintree (form 34333).
I’ve nailed Fortune Cookie (early-bird) colours to Annie Mc for Jonjo O’Neill, whose had four places, one winner, from his last five runners.
Offered 13.0 in the BETDAQ Sportsbook, the mare was well beaten in the Golden Miller at Cheltenham, after a hat-trick which included Wincanton and Wetherby, so no slouch for speed or jumping on a flatter track. I’ll give her a couple of chances.
RAPPER TO LAND DALY HAT-TRICK
⭕ 2.32 Aintree This 3m 1f novices handicap chase has been won in the last four years by two of the Old Roan runners, Minellacelebration and Vintage Clouds, underlining the need for winning course form.
You won’t get that here but you will have in-form stables to choose from and – the good news- the market has been a strong guide every year so far, with winners just outside the best backed at 4-1, 6-1 and 8-1 (twice).
I hate the sound, I like the form of Rapper, whose trainer, Henry Daly, is on a hat-trick mission after winning with his last two.
Rapper has won at Market Rasen and placed at Cheltenham over hurdles, suggesting he is adaptable as to track, though having a preference for going left-handed, according to Daly.
As a hurdles winner up to 2m 7f, we may have a good stayer on our hands here, one who should take well to the slower pace over fences. BETDAQ 10.0 taken.
⭕ 2.50 Longchamp (Prix Royal Oak) Anthony Mullins’ marvellous Princess Zoe tries to follow up her five wins in a row in the French Gold Cup triumph, which was only at the start of this month.
None of the others in the first four take her on again, and Technician did an autumn double in Paris last season, after Holdthasigreen missed out on taking both the Cadran and Royal Oak by little more than a length the year before.
Tac De Boistron and Vazirabad also kept their form in the autumn French marathons and, after all, Princess Zoe, had a summer holiday after Galway. I got better than evens.
ANOTHER ‘WORTHY’ FROST RIDE
⭕ 2.52 Wincanton (Desert Orchid Silver Cup) A poor turnout but a chance to see Bryony Frost’s attempt to follow on from Frodon with another spectacular round in Worthy Farm.
The partnership won the Lord Stalbridge Memorial here last December and Worthy Farm came back to the track for the January meeting this year to land the Dick Hunt Cup.
⭕ 3.42 Aintree Richard Newland and Cillin Leonard produced a magic winner for us in Captain Tom Cat (15-2 SP) at Cheltenham on Friday, but Strong Glance has closed right down on their favourite in this, Clever As A Fox.
Both are consistent seven-year-olds but hurdlers aged six have won this four times out of five and I give a big chance to 10.5 offer Earlofthecotswolds.
Had a satisfactory run back recently, and seems to have reverted to the ‘sticks’: his record over fences has not matched a solid hurdles sequence of 101212, so he stays over the smaller obstacles.
