HERE’S WHAT’S JUMPING IN THE COMPUTER RACE: Racing moves from reality into the virtual, as Horse Racing Ireland announces an end to the Jumps season, with cancellation of Fairyhouse and Punchestown, while ITV reveals its racecard for a simulated running of the Grand National by computer at racetime on Saturday when the real thing would have been run.

AUTUMN IRISH NATIONAL PLAN
The Irish Jumps season is over. It has been officially called off, with the 3m-euro Punchestown Festival and the 500,000-euro Fairyhouse Grand National the principal casualties.
The government has banned all sporting events until April 19 at the earliest, and the HRI can give no sure date for racing’s return.
But, when it does, it will be behind closed doors on the basis of staggered meetings chosen for containment and travel reasons, much in line with the English recommendation which I revealed earlier this week.
Events such as the Grand National could be staged in the autumn during ‘an enhanced programme of Jumps racing in Ireland.’
The Jumps championships are decided as of March 24, with Willie Mullins (trainer) and Paul Townend (jockey) titleholders again, Gordon Elliottt finishing less than 100,000 euros behind Mullins.
Darragh O’Keefe is named champion conditional jockey, with Patrick Mullins champion amateur rider again.
THE VIRTUAL GRAND NATIONAL
⚠️ HEADS UP: Saturday’s televised simulation of the Grand National that would have been run at Liverpool that day is for entertainment only but £10-per-customer stakes will be allowed by bookmakers to fixed odds (ITV’s betting guide is at right of horses names).
