CHAMPIONS DAY PREVIEWS: MONDAY in Daqman: British Champions Long Distance Cup. TUESDAY: British Champions Sprint. WEDNESDAY: British Champions Fillies And Mares.
TODAY: 3.05 Saturday, Queen Elizabeth 11 Stakes, British Champions Mile.
TOMORROW: 3.45 Saturday, Champion Stakes, British Champions Middle Distance.
đ§ď¸ ASCOT EXPECTS HEAVY RAIN: Fridayâs fixture at Haydock has been abandoned and chases on the Uttoxeter card have been lost; there will be five hurdles and a bumper. Heavy rain also threatens Ascot on Saturday.
MILE A TRUE CHAMPIONSHIP
â 3.05 Ascot, Saturday (British Champions Mile) Forecast rain could spoil this true championship. Frankie Dettori will be praying for some sunshine to dry out the Ascot turf so that he can expunge Inspiralâs flop in this race last year, sixth of nine at 11-10 favourite.
It was a similar story in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in August, when she weakened behind (5 of 5) Paddington with the soft ground given as an excuse.
Since then Inspiral and Dettori have been inspired! They beat the French Derby runner-up, Big Rock, at Deauville (officially good to soft but probably faster) then took the Sun Chariot at Newmarket.
Inspiral would face not only Big Rock and Paddington on Saturday, she has to take on Tahiyra, Coronation Stakes winner here at Ascot and half-length runner-up in the 1,000 Guineas.
đ˘ RATINGS: Current ratings are: 125 Paddington, 121 Nashwa and Triple Time, 119 Chaldean, 118 Big Rock, Inspiral and Tahiyra.
đ§ď¸ GOING: Big Rock has won on heavy and good to soft; Chaldean on soft and good; Inspiral on good to firm and good soft; Nashwa on good to soft, good and good to firm; Paddington has won on heavy, soft and good; Tahiyra on soft, good and firm; Triple Time on good to firm, good and soft.
SILVER LINING POINTERS
â 3.10 Wincanton today The grey mare My Silver Lining beat Juniper three parts of a length in a duel to the line at Cheltenham for the Maresâ Chase Final in April. Both have been absent since.
But My Silver Lining is a Wincanton winner over the CD, has scored first run back before and was âliveâ in the market this morning..
Juniper has her first run or Anthony Honeyball, who has had two winners from five starters in the last 13 days.
Local trainer Joe Tizzard (Striking A Pose) started October with a winner but then had three in a row pulled up and his last two starters have finished a total of 63 lengths behind the winner.
Expect Wake Up early to set the pace, which will help the front two in the market with the going optimistically described as âgood with showersâ. Fingers crossed.
ANOTHER LUCINDA STORY
â 3.35 Carlisle The 3m trip is short of Your Own Storyâs best, but heâs never been out of the frame after a break and has scored over 3m here at Carlisle.
Trainer Lucinda Russell is currently striking at 25% and there was confidence in âStoryâ at 5.5 on Betdaq Betting Exchange this morning.
Guetapan Collonges is a four-time scorer at around 3m but itâs offputting that Charlie Longdon hasnât had a winner in two months.
Wasdell Dundalk is up 18lb for a hat-trick in small fields, all of them at Perth, where his times got slower and slower (nearly 66 seconds last time).
CD winner Morning Spirit is back on his last winning mark but has previously needed a run after a holiday. Ned Tanner is still novice.
GET STUCK IN TO 11.5 SHOT
â 6.00 Chelmsford Three-year-olds do best in this and Charlie Johnstonâs Get Stuck In, who faded trying to make all at Kempton the last day, could last out in first-time visor. A generous 11.5 offer on BETDAQ this morning.
The visor helped Riot finish close up in his last start on grass and he was third here last week.
Maid In Kentucky does best after a break and is running up a sequence of defeats, just like Gulmarg who has been placed 13 times but only in two of them has managed to get his head in front at the line.
EMARAATY DOWN IN CLASS
RAIN FALLBACK â 1.25 Deauville If some of the weather stories are true, England could lose a meeting or two, in which case Deauville might come into play for a bet.
The forecast on the Normandy coast is cloudy but only a splash or two of rain and this two-year-old test is intriguing.
The race is the Criterium De Vitesse (5f 110yd top-drawer speed test), won four years out of five by English stables.
Top drawer? Be warned that winners in the five seasons – including when the race has been held at Chantilly or Longchamp – have failed in every one of their subsequent 22 starts since.
Ireland join in this time, with runners from Joseph OâBrien (Bonbon, prefers soft) and Ado McGuinness (Rush Queen, Listed winner on soft).
Alice Haynesâ Hala Emaraaty beat Big Evs (now rated 113) at Redcar in May and, though five lengths behind him in the Windsor Castle, stayed in the Pattern.
He was big odds behind Vandeek (now 118) in the Richmond Stakes and Lake Forest in the Gimcrack but looks value today.
