SEVEN GRAND NATIONAL OUTSIDERS: Daqman yesterday ran down the list of Grand National favourites in BETDAQ Sportsbook for next week’s race. Now he names his ‘hidden horses’ for the race, all in the top 40 or so, seemingly sure to get a run, yet offered at up to 50.0.

40-1 HIDDEN AINTREE HORSES

NATIONAL COUNTDOWN: ’Hidden horses’ is my way of describing runners you’ve never heard of, those you’ve forgotten or those the trainer hopes we’ve all forgotten!

Migration was the hidden horse in the Lincoln so I doubt there will be many – if any – old-fashioned Spring doubles, with the 18-1 Doncaster winner going on to the Grand National.

Just five horses in the National top 40 or so have had only two recent runs; two others – Diol Ker and Roi Mage – are hardly known to English punters.

DIOL KER (Noel Meade) is by the grey Martaline, who has also got Agrapart, Dynaste, Mighty Potter, Ramses De Teillee, Vanillier and Snow Leopardess.

Fourth in the 2022 Thyestes before winning the Leinster National at Naas (heavy) last March, ran second in the big-field Grade B chase of the Christmas meeting at Leopardstown. BETDAQ 41.0

ROI MAGE (Patrick Griffin) gave 10lb to one of the fancied National horses, Longhouse Poet, over 3m 2f at Down Royal a couple of weeks back, with well-beaten third Burrows Saint, the 2019 Irish Grand National winner (fourth at Aintree in 2021). BETDAQ 50.0

ROYAL PAGAILLE (Venetia Williams) Mud-Lover who twice won the Peter Marsh at Haydock on soft-heavy (2021-22) was second in the King George on Boxing Day and sixth in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. BETDAQ 41.0.

OUR POWER (Sam Thomas) Also with just two runs this season after 5th in the Ultima at Cheltenham last March. Won both the London Gold Cup and the Kempton Trophy. BETDAQ 21.0.

CAPODANNO (Willie Mullins) Winner at the last two Punchestown festivals (Champion Novice last April), with in-between second there to Bob Olinger and fourth in the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham to L’Homme Presse. BETDAQ 26.0.

CLOUDY GLEN (Venetia Williams) Kim Muir runner-up (2021) before winning the Ladbrokes Trophy – the old Hennessy Gold Cup – at Newbury. Quiet after, until good third in Haydock Park Grand National trial in February. BETDAQ 41.0.

MINELLA TRUMP (Donald McCain) Another with only two runs. Won eight chases out of nine, mainly on good ground between August 2021 and June last year. Goes particularly well for Brian Hughes. BETDAQ 41.0.

NAPPING ANOTHER HOLLIE DAY

⭕ 3.20 Chelmsford I’ll play up my winnings from He’s A Monster with another big player for Archie Watson and Hollie Doyle.

Barging Thru (BETDAQ 4.7), a winner here at today’s level a fortnight ago, has been penalised a pound (swaps cheekpieces for first-time visor).

But Letmelivemylife, who scored in a lower grade 10 days back, has a 5lb penalty.

Whether class 2, 3 or 4, Revolutionise now has a string of suspect place-only finishes (2233). The grey has scored just once in 23 outings over the last three years.

⭕ 6.30 Southwell Kingmania got herself in a muddle under a 7lb claimer (short of room/hung right/short of room) or might have beaten a big field at Newmarket.

A hood today and a change of stables to James Ferguson’s yard, which is hard to keep out of the frame right now: form figures 143112.

FRANKEL FILLY HAS QUALITY

⭕ 7.00 Southwell Urban Decay (BETDAQ 3.7) probably has the quality to scoot home from the one stall under Danny Tudhope on his only ride of the day.

By Frankel, first foal of a High Chaparral mare, she kept on well over a mile at Kempton in November, with the winner, an Oaks entry, due to take on some quality animals at Kempton’s Rosebery meeting on Easter Monday.

Urban Decay’s trainer Michael Bell – two winners since the last day of March – is tackling neighbour Roger Varian, whose Mubhijah contrived to lose two finishes when hooded. He’s hoping the switch to Tapeta will help her.

⭕ 7.30 Southwell Over five seasons, Mr Consistency, William Haggas shows a 23% strike rate; this year it’s 24%.

Billy Loughnane, using his claim well, is 5-12 and takes 5lb off In The Giving (BETDAQ 2.88), which could edge this match with Creme De Cacao (offered 5.2).

Roger Varian’s filly enjoyed the run of the race at Chelmsford the last day and got off the mark, eased down.

Jockey David Egan is one of three riders who have helped set up Varian’s ever-increasing win rate, Egan’s 138 winners and percentage of £3.4m in prizemoney a tribute to their mutual skills.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
