FIVE WINNERS IN FOUR DAYS: Daqman is hoping for the best with a formula he didn’t plan, but he’ll take it for today! His winners tally is 3020; that’s three winners Sunday and two on Tuesday followed each day by near-miss blanks. On that score, he is due at least a double today but the low temperatures mean he is batting only on All Weather.

JUMPS MEETINGS ABANDONED: Ludlow and Wincanton in England, and Fairyhouse in Ireland, are all abandoned, leaving only Chelmsford (Polytrack) and Southwell (Tapeta). Lingfield Jumps is off tomorrow, and there are inspections planned for the weekend meetings at Ascot, Haydock and Taunton.

CHELTENHAM ante-post bets so far: 21.0 Chapeau De Soleil (Albert Bartlett), 17.0 Gentlemansgame (Gold Cup), 17.0 Broadway Boy (Brown Advisory), 15.0 Il Etait Temps (Arkle Chase), 13.0 Impaire Et Passe (Champion Hurdle), 12.0 Dinoblue (Champion Chase). All bets with BETDAQ to 10pt level stakes.

PUFF THE MAGIC PEDIGREE..

⭕ 2.30 Chelmsford If you could pick one trainer to send your filly to, it would have to be Ralph Beckett, noted for his expertise and patience right up to Oaks-winning level.

Beckett trained Puff, Divine Breath’s dam, to win first time on a racecourse, and the half-sister to four winners is sure to target an initial success in this very modest contest. The trainer’s record with newcomers at Chelmsford? 1-1. BETDAQ offers this morning: 3.00

⭕ 5.00 Southwell The morning punt has been Mucuna in this, down to 4.1 on BETDAQ. Five times a winner over hurdles in the summer of 2022, the mare has joined Tony Charlton, who has trained three winners in the last 10 days, though he took over Milton Harris’s licence only in December.

Mucuna had a run back over hurdles at the end of the year, after a 617-day absence and is 22lb well in, using my rough-and-ready assessment of Flat to Jumps ratings.

If you allow a winning hurdler 35-45lb on the Flat, then Mucuna (Jumps rating 116) would have at worst a 71 rating today. She has only 49.

VALSAD STABLE-SWITCH ALERT

⭕ 6.30 Southwell A class-3 handicap is like a fresh tank of air for those of us who hate diving down to class 6.

Tenerife Sunshine would be an eponymous antidote on a cold night but is not my idea of a rewarding bet; a class-4 winner at Kempton who failed to make the transition to class 2 and 3, and was beaten the last day dropped back to class 4.

Pace-runner Qaasid has kept his form particularly well since a CD winner here in December 2022. He hasn’t been out of the first three in six starts, scoring again in February last year, this time at Newcastle, and going through the grades, probably running his best race in the Spring when beaten a length at Lingfield in a big field.

But his 23232 string of places suggest he needs to lose a few pounds and consistency like that won’t make it happen. That’s the trouble with honest trainers!

From a stable just hit form, Cavern Club won a class 4 on the July Course, and was beaten only a half a length at Doncaster raised in grade but, when up again, in class 2 over 1m 6f at York, he dwelt and didn’t run his race. Not seen since.

Valsad, a winner at Southwell in a higher grade over a furlong further, is having his first run for Jamie Osborne and a stable switch can often freshen them up and produce a first-time-for-us response. Well drawn.

Queen Of Ipanema’s 7-15 on AW reflects a spell of five wins in a row in 2022, taking her up the grades to class 4. But she seems stuck at that level since, and drifted in the betting this morning.

Mark Rimell does well at this time of year but Tiger Beetle is up in trip and grade, and his best form is at Wolverhampton (131102); outside Wolver he is 00030 on AW.

Michael Appleby is due a run of form but the hooded Howth has won only his maiden, always a bad sign, and is 1-20 (0-5 on AW), while Sonnerie Power has finished in rear in two runs for the yard.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 5.1 Cavern Club, 5.9 Valsad

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
