TRAINER TO FOLLOW WITH HOT YOUNGSTERS: Examining trainers’ records for this season alongside the 2016 results, Daqman yesterday hailed the surge of Yorkshire success. Today he names the trainer most likely to weigh in two-year-old winners by the number as the autumn season of juvenile races approaches.

TWO-YEAR-OLDS ARE A GODSEND

Look out for a flood of winners. I’m talking two-year-olds. And I’ve got my eye on the Newmarket stable of John Gosden.

Gosden, the punters’ godsend – he enables them to win money! – has had 100 juvenile winners in the last five seasons. And he had 40 last year alone.

So his modest six successes so far in 2017 suggest that, on average, there could be around 20 to come, and on the 2016 figures, maybe even 34.

Only Aidan O’Brien with his few ‘sends’ from Ireland, beats John’s 21% strike rate. Ballydoyle’s 25 English hits in five seasons has come at a rate of 22%

Stables with precocious two-year-olds as their forte are led this season by Mark Johnston (55 so far to 81 in 2016), Richard Hannon (49 following 87) and Richard Fahey (41 to the 55 last year).

Like Gosden, Sir Michael Stoute (only five so far) will be filling out his usual quota in the autumn. He had 18 last year.

RAVEN TO FLY HOME

2.50 Chelmsford This class two conditions event stands out as the best race of the day with the winner collecting £28k.

Three four-year-olds take on five three-year-old fillies with preference going to the Ryan Moore trained Raven’s Lady representing the younger generation.

Trained by Marco Botti, she has winning all-weather form at Kempton and proved she has the class too with a close up third in a Listed contest at Pontefract last time out.

Whilst her two wins so far this year have come over six furlongs this extra distance shouldn’t pose any problems as her Kempton AW win was over seven and she was even tried over a mile at Ascot earlier in the season and didn’t seem to have any problems trip wise.

The Roger Varian trained Aljuljalah won on debut at Newmarket but hasn’t won in nine subsequent races. She’s had the one run on the all-weather and shaped well enough when second at Lingfield but I can’t help but think the Leicester race in which she was fourth last time out looked a weaker contest than todays.

A bigger danger may come from the lightly raced Castleacre who was fourth in a Newbury Listed event over this trip after an impressive winning debut on the all-weather at Newcastle.

BACK THE JACK

4.35 Musselburgh I’m not sure I want to be with recent Thirsk winner Cosmic Sky here. Tim Easterby’s runner is up 6lb for her first ever success but it came on good to soft ground and it’s good to firm here.

There are also reasons to be against My Girl Maisie who ran a cracker a Redcar last time out but it came over five – which was also the distance of her only previous win.

With two of the market leaders ruled out that might make Jack Blane the default bet. He’s consistent over this trip and there’s just about enough evidence on his CV that he can be equally as good on faster ground.

BEAUTY FOR BOTTI

7.40 Wolverhampton Eesha Beauty can hopefully make it a good day for Marco Botti.

She put in a much improved effort when third at Windsor last time out and the two here with with the most experience Another Day Of Sun and Star Of Zaam look distinctly vulnerable to an improver.
