DAQMAN NAPS HAT-TRICK MAKES SIX ALREADY FOR SEPTEMBER: A tough opening day at Doncaster for punters yesterday and Daqman switched to Kempton to maintain his naps sequence. Omnivega (WON 1-1), taken at 10-7 in BETDAQ offers, gave him a best-bets hat-trick; five out of seven in a total of six in the nine days of September so far.

DONCASTER DAY 2: MORE BIG BETDAQ VALUE IN THE HEADLINES: Day 2 at Doncaster is just as tricky with wide-open contests, and Daqman goes for more outsiders, hoping to avoid the frustration of yesterday’s Urban Beat (2nd 6-1) and his plunge horse Althiqa (2nd 7-2). Headlines:

⭕ 1.10 Doncaster Last year’s St Leger winner, Logician, should remain unbeaten with a sixth strike here. It would be his fourth success for Frankie Dettori.
⭕ 1.40 Doncaster It was best to bet low on the straight course yesterday, with the results by stall including: 5, 2, 7, 5, 2, 2.
Nazuna won her maiden here and has been given a mark of 80. Meu Amor won a novice at Pontefract the previous day and got 76
Sky Angel has been beaten in three consecutive races at Newmarket but is higher (off 81), though receives 4lb from the York and Chester scorer Spright (85 top rated).
Compare those with June winner Golden Melody (83), who only faded close home behind Dandalla in the Albany, and got bogged down in the mud at Haydock.
I thought she was worth another chance off a clearly lenient mark but she drifted to 19.0 on BETDAQ this morning.
I had a good word for Signora Princess and she, too, was seemingly unfancied at 18.5. I had two small bets.
BEACH IS AN ECHO OF ADAAY
⭕ 2.00 Haydock Talking of the Haydock mud, Echo Beach looked big here at 9.7 this morning in the BETDAQ orange for a trainer, Hugo Palmer, who is 5-9 with his two-year-olds in races of this nature here.
Echo Beach’s sire, Adaay won the Group-2 Sandy Lane on this course, and his dam won two races on the soft. Palmer had today’s jockey on board when his last two-year-old runner won at 12-1 on Tuesday.
Echo Beach’s problem on form is the evn-money favourite Rich Dream, whose Convivial-maiden fourth at York was in a race of winners which usually turns up some real quality.
UBUNTU BIG AT BETDAQ 10.0
⭕ 2.10 Doncaster (May Hill Stakes) Occasionally throws up a fabulous filly: Height Of Fashion 1981; Reams Of Verse 1996; and Laurens in 2017, who went on to take the Fillies Mile, Prix de Diane (French Oaks) and Sun Chariot Stakes.
In common with most May Hill winners, Laurens had two or three starts before Doncaster, not the exposure of five races that Star Of Emaraaty and Dubai Fountain each bring to the table.
The pair, one-two in the Sweet Solera at Newmarket (July) a month or so back, look vulnerable to less exposed types.
But the little Frankel filly Zabeel Queen and the hooded Indigo Girl have been seen only once, albeit as winners, and have those question-marks about their size and application, as well as lack of experience.
Lilac Road is a CD winner but her rating would look better in the previous race (the nursery) not in this one. Great Vibes (84) has already won a nursery.
Prado (90) impressed me at Salisbury and is another to get bogged down in the mud of recent times, all at sea at Goodwood (Group 3) against the 103-rated winner.
The same thing happened to Ubuntu (also Group 3) on heavy ground at the Curragh, with the Racing Post racereader reporting: ‘Has more scope than any of them on just her second run.’ I took BETDAQ 10.0.
So has ‘ubuntu’ got plenty of scope. It means ‘humanity to others’; therefore belongs to that category of ‘wouldn’t it be nice if..’
NEVER FORGET ‘JUMBO’ FORM
⭕ 2.40 Doncaster (Weatherbys £200,000 2-Y-O Stakes) Richard Hannon has feasted on the Sales races to the tune of around £200,000 so far, pocketing the Super Sprint and Goffs-Yearling Stakes at Newbury and York, then following up with the hat-trick at Salisbury, all thanks to little Happy Romance.
His representative today, Collinsbay, is still a maiden but was giving 6lb when just headed at Ascot and his brother won this race a year ago.
Uncle Jumbo (BETDAQ 6.0 taken) beat him here at Doncaster, before Happy Romance and the far side low draw dominated the York race, with Uncle Jumbo fourth out of stall 19 on the near side. Unlucky.
Yazaman was second in the July Stakes (Newmarket, of course) and the Richmond Stakes (Goodwood) – both Group 2 – before becoming outpaced in the Gimcrack.
Ataser’s win yesterday boosted the prospects here of Line Of Departure, who beat him at Ascot a month back, giving him 6lb.
Cairn Island is an improver with courage but Imperial Force failed the last day to follow up on his Norfolk Stakes third to The Lir Jet, and Coventry fourth Dark Lion has also lost his roar. Maybe Frankie Dettori and first-time blinkers will help.
VIVIONN VALUE AT NEW TRIP
⭕ 3.15 Doncaster (Park Hill Fillies Stakes) Kew Gardens’ sister, Snow, was described as a ‘lovely straightforward filly’ by her winning jockey at Cork in July (1m 4f), and as ‘tough and hardy’ by her trainer after her earlier second to Blue Wind (1m 2f).
Either that trainer and jockey are pulling our proverbial leg, or she deserves a chance, stepped up in trip, with blinkers first time. In fact, you’d think ‘team those attributes up with Frankie Dettori and you’ve got some bet!’
Trouble is she’s already tried and failed at the trip and is surrounded by improvers, or potentially so, which is the case with Viviann.
She goes over the trip for the first time today after her second in the (Listed) Galtres at York. She’s sister to a winner twice in Group 3 at 1m 6f.
Believe In Love has already scored twice at that trip and her impressive 10-lengths romp on the July Course suggests she’s far better than a handicapper.
Pista and Monica Sheriff are also distance winners and Dubious Affair a course-and-distance winner.
Like much of Doncaster this week it’s a fascinating race of ‘nearly horses’ half a stone below Classic level.
Four-year-olds are 8-2 up on the younger generation, despite the 10lb concession, and I’ll try Vivionn (BETFAQ 8.4) under last year’s winning jockey, the resurgent Jim Crowley.
PERSUASION BETDAQ 12.0 PICK
⭕ 3.45 Doncaster I’m staying with the low numbers but by now you’ll know if I am, literally, on the right track!
Jumaira Bay only had to be pushed out at Chepstow to beat Modmin, who then ran away with a race at Goodwood eight lengths.
Before that he’d been second at York to Brunch who, next time on the same track, scored from an earlier class2 winner, Hartswood (Eastern World, Cold Front behind).
Hayley Turner is 2-2 for Tom Clover and their four-time winner Broughtons Gold is a steady improver.
Frankie Dettori’s mount, Persuasion, has yet to race outside Group company (second to Wichita and then down the field in the Guineas). This drop in class looks significant .
Jumaira Bay and Persuasion stand out for me. So do the offers of 12.0 Persuasion, with Jumaira Bay a second-level bet at 4.5.
