SNAP! SUPERNAP DOUBLE IN FIVE MINUTES: Daqman lines up the big Saturday races and bids for a supernap double today, one in England, one in Ireland, separated by just five minutes on the race-times for Thurles and Ludlow. Singles and a Daq Multiples double.

GABR TALK OF TROPHY PLACE..

His dam’s sister won a selling hurdle. But his French Derby winning sire, Intello, was bred on the same Galileo-Danehill cross as Frankel.

Sir Michael Stoute’s Gabr could be the surprise packet in Saturday’s final two-year-old test, the Racing Post Trophy, at Doncaster.

Horses third when he was second at York and runner-up to him at Yarmouth have both won since.

3.25 Doncaster, Saturday (Racing Post Trophy) Group 1 number 26 for the season is on the cards for Aidan O’Brien with his usual blanket entry for this race.

And there’ll be many more Group successes for the winner, if O’Brien’s past trophy stars such as Camelot (2011) and St Nicholas Abbey (2009) are any guide.

But punters turned off by the Ballymore overkill will be looking for an outsider with that ‘improver’ tag, a label rarely absent from a growing Stoute colt or filly.

With the Limekilns closed, Sir Michael took Gabr to work on the Long Hill grass, in a nice strong exercise with the older Shabbah.

As the pace quickened, the impressive Gabr skipped about six clear, again delighting connections since his recent win at Yarmouth. Jim Crowley rides on Saturday.

2.15 Newbury, Saturday (St Simon Sakes) Ralph Beckett’s Mountain Bell, beaten only half a length in this last year, has not raced again since that day. Can he be readied now for this comeback on the very day.

2.50 Newbury, Saturday (Horris Hill Stakes) It’s 40 years since horses of the calibre of Persian Bold and Kris won this Group-3 two-year-old trial.

Going for a hat-trick after winning over the Newbury course and distance last time is Rogue, representing Team Hannon, which has won this four times in the last eight seasons.

FIVE-MINUTE SUPERNAP DOUBLE

4.30 Thurles Charmix is 114 after a break but has left Harry Fry and a watching brief is required.

Monksland is better class than the rest here and has started his seasons with figures of 121. Has everything going for him here. Supernap.

4.35 Ludlow Ian Williams is bidding for a personal four-timer, and I fancy him here with the progressive Banditry (rated 96 on the Flat) over hurdles and Ibazz on the (AW) Flat tonight. Supernap Banditry.

STAR STALL AND PACE WILL SUIT

7.15 Chelmsford Here’s a race we can win, surely. Ian Williams is bidding for a four-timer today, with 8.8 BETDAQ offer Ibazz ridden by Manuel Fernandes, 2-3 for the stable, which has a 23% strike rate on the course.

Diagnostic is one of three on the card for William Haggas and Ryan Moore, a combination which has 7-9 here.

7.45 Chelmsford A double-figure draw strikes a note of discord for the Haggas-Moore runner, Musical Terms, and not a lot better off in the adjacent stall is John Gosden’s Dhalam, unraced since May.

Stalls 1, 2 and 5 – all favourite – have won the three runnings to date, so look out for a market mover among the low drawn.

Midnight Macchiato (3), Muhajjal (4), Election Day (5) and Whosyourhousemate (1) are all potential front-runners and some among them will be disappointed.

Cainhoe Star (in 6) can handle a pace and his only ‘duck egg’ was when racing on soft ground at Newmarket in July (he was withdrawn in a similar situation earlier on in the summer).

Take out those two and his form reads 211231 since being gelded, with a rise in status to a 78 rating from 53. The 7.2 offers on BETDAQ make him value for a bet.
