WHISPER BECKONED 12-1 WINNER: Daqman has piled up the profits every day since Saturday, thanks yesterday to his declared ‘whisper’ for Bekkensfirth (WON 12-1), winner at Leicester by 13 lengths and 14, despite being a maiden with form figures 00330.

110 POINTS PROFIT IN FOUR DAYS: Though his nap, Hedley Lamarr, was a plunge horse who failed to run his race, Daqman still finished in front for the fourth consecutive day, three winning naps having set up the profits from Sunday to Tuesday to bring in a four-day total of 110.65 points to recommended stakes.

Profit 48.47 (Sun): W 9-4, W 7-4, 3RD 14-1
Profit 45.50 (Mon): W 7-2, W 11-4, W 7-4
Profit 03.00 (Tue): W 2-1
Profit 13.68 (Wed): W 12-1

MULTIPLES ARE A CRACKER FOR CHRISTMAS: Says Daqman: ‘My last two Saturdays haven’t been brilliant but I made up for it last week with nine wins on the Monday and this week is holding up well. Whenever I have a points ton-up, I like to spend on a few Daq Multiples. With five meetings to choose from, and stockings to be filled, today’s the day.’

‘ WHATA’ HANDY BET AGAINST THE HOODIE!

1.10 Taunton On Sunday, I opposed Ptit Zig because Paul Nicholls had saddled 19 consecutive losers. Things are not much changed at Ditcheat, with the yard’s strike rate 1-23 in the last eight days.

Rock On Oscar may win this opener, with Nicholls going for a fourth consecutive win in the race, but it would be despite this poor stable form, and despite his own tendency to pull hard, which may or may not be resolved by a first-time hood.

According to the Racing Post’s own data-base, ‘Oscar’ has always raced in a tongue-tie under Rules, so the ‘ht’ with a ‘1’ against it is incorrect in the trade-paper racecard. The subscript ‘1’ should be beside the ‘h’, signifying the first-time hood, so that it appears h1t not ht1.

All this is academic, since I’m punting the 4.0 second favourite in the BETDAQ orange, winner of five out of seven point-to-points, from a stable striking at 50% in the last week, and with Noel Fehily booked. Whataknight!

1.40 Taunton Victor Dartnall’s Christmas may have come early, with the handicapper dropping Abyaat 12lb for his last two hurdles starts despite a good run back on the Flat. Cracker or plum duff at 27.0 in the BETDAQ orange?

Dartnall’s team is going well but I also fancy local horse Native Robin as far too big at 15.0, with Nick Schofield booked. Last time he was on board, the combination tried to make all, and could attempt an easy lead again over three furlongs shorter.

In fact, Native Robin, trained 25 miles from the track, could be described as a Hidden Horse, in that his last run at Wincanton was also over a trip too far.

3.10 Taunton After Gary Moore’s sensational run at Sandown, it’s surprising to get 7.0 on BETDAQ this morning about Gores Island, particularly with rain expected.

Balgarry will probably set the pace but is unappealing on his profile, while the Nicholls, Ceasar Milan, has poor form enough without being under the stable cloud.

Barrakilla is easily the best horse in the race but had colic in the summer and I wouldn’t want to take too short a price about him first run back, though he won’t be running without a big chance.

HOBSON’S CHOICE BUT JACK IS JUMPING

1.55 Punchestown Gordon Elliott had six in this but can’t wait to show his faith in Jetstream Jack in the wake of his scintillating performance on heavy ground at Clonmel.

Willie Mullins is always to be feared, and Thomas Hobson is another work in progress but he is inexperienced alongside Jetstream Jack, and didn’t jump well out of heavy ground at Listowel.

He steps up into the unknown territory of 2m 4f, which is also a worry, although a potentially slower run race should be a help to his jumping.

2.30 Warwick You have to keep one eye on Cyclop but was his Market Rasen romp (13 lengths clear when fell at the last) a flash in the pan?

The one that catches my other eye is Ballyrath at 10.0 BETDAQ offers this morning. Visored first time and stepping up to a trip that should suit.

Denali Highway is high in the weights and George Lad has drifted like a lonely dog on a raft, over my betting weir for a Hobbs horse in this company, out to 13.0 as I write.

But Ballyrath, from a yard looking for a hat-trick today after a Wednesday double at Leicester, is by Flemensfirth out of a Roselier mare, and should stay all day.

ON THE OCHE TO THROW FOR A DOUBLE

It’s a day for doubles. In fact, I’ll be looking at multiple bets the whole weekend, with a view to a Christmas box.

Why is it a day for doubles? Because I like to mix favourites with outsiders, and I have both in my selections today.

Doubles where both are outsiders are appropriate for big races on Saturdays and at the major meetings. They don’t come up often, as the odds suggest, but you know you have BETDAQ value on your side. I divide multiples into three categories.

SHORT SHOTS: where you mix the favourites in doubles and trebles and throw in an acca for luck.
MIXED BAG: The favourites mixed with longer prices to give you some leverage.
RETIREMENT FUND: Outsiders in doubles which could win you a fortune.

Keep the day job today but try the mixed bag of the better prices – Gores Island and Ballyrath – with Jetstream Jack and Barrakilla.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked 1 to 9 for strength)
BET 6pts win WHATAKNIGHT (1.10 Taunton)
BET 1pt win and place on each ABYAAT and NATIVE ROBIN (1.40 Taunton)
BET 8pts win (nap) JETSTREAM JACK (1.55 Punchestown)
BET 2pts win and place BALLYRATH (2.30 Warwick)
BET 6pts win GORES ISLAND and 2.5pts win (stakes saver) BARRAKILLA (3.10 Taunton)

DAQ MULTIPLES: 5 x 2pt win doubles Jetstream Jack (1.55 Punchestown) and Ballyrath (2.30 Warwick) with Gores Island and Barrakilla (both 3.10 Taunton)
