SOMERSET NATIONAL BULL’S-EYE BETS: Daqman dares a 7.0 nap and tries to pay for it by naming the pacemaker! That’s at Ludlow today before he finds bull’s-eye bets in the Somerset National at Wincanton. All good value on BETDAQ.
TOMORROW: Start of the three-day Winter Million meeting at Lingfield.
BACK-AND-LAY HOPES OF BOB
⭕ 2.30 Ludlow Bobhopeornohope made all in cheekpieces at Market Rasen, inflicting the only beating in four races for the runner-up and the only chase defeat for the third. Back and lay at 4.0 on BETDAQ this morning.
Nigel Twiston-Davies has gone 19 runners in 19 days without a winner until a small race went his way yesterday, and it was in the summer of 2019 that Topofthecotswold last won chases.
But the eight-year-old is below his winning weight mark now, and I’m going to stick my neck out and take this one to catch ‘Bob.’ He came back to form at Wetherby in November, then unseated at the first in a hot race at Newbury.
J P McManus’s Minella Till Dawn blew hot and cold for Gordon Elliott and there’s been no improvement from a change of stables to Jonjo O’Neill.
No Getaway’s winning form is on soft-heavy and his usual acey-deucy start to the season did not happen this time (pulled up at Aintree in December).
Not A Role Model will appreciate the better ground; last time he ran off today’s mark he was second at Chepstow on good to soft but, like Minella Till Dawn, is 10 now.
After two runs as a novice (nearest to the winner: 12 lengths), Karl Philippe remains on the mark the handicapper first thought of.
It’s almost five years since Gardefort won a race and was then second in the Grand Annual, putting him up to 145. He’s 13 years old and down 25lb now, despite three placed efforts in the last four.
BETDAQ value 7 Topofthecotswolds
MALAITA FORM TRIPLE BOOST
⭕ 3.00 Ludlow Colin Tizzard’s Amarillo Sky came to win for me yesterday but fell two out. That’s twice that’s happened to me in the last few days.
Colin has four chances on his home track, Wincanton, today but sends two to Ludlow in search of softer ground, including So Said I in this, a maiden winner at Exeter and led four out in a big field at Ascot.
Malaita was beaten, fourth, at Ludlow the last day, but the winner and third in front of her have both won since and the second horse came to the race from a 10-lengths win.
Terresita cantered round Fakenham to finish 16 lengths clear on New Years Day, and the runner-up has scored twice since.
BETDAQ value 3.45 Terresita, 6.5 Malaita
BLINDS FAITH IN THE CAPTAIN
⭕ 3.50 Wincanton (Somerset National) STATS: Five of the last seven winners have been of double-figure age. No clear favourite has won since 2012-13.
Destinee Royale Short-headed in a marathon chase at Haydock in the Spring, looked likely to win from the front on her reappearance at Cheltenham but stumbled and fell after jumping five out.
Favori De Sivola Goes for a hat-trick today, after being raised 12lb for scoring here and at Exeter. She is 2-2 at Wincanton and, though she steps up in trip today, trainer Nick Williams insists it’s ‘onwards and upwards.’
Captain Chaos His PPP form is a reminder of a similar sequence in the autumn of 2020 which was transformed to a Warwick Classic fourth and Ascot win (off 135) when blinkers were fitted. He has them back on today, 5lb lower.
Premier D’troice Down in the weights and the one for the money with bookies last night (20-1 into 7-1). Justifiable on his novice form last Spring but was a flop in the autumn, tackling handicap company.
Wind surgery and tongue-tie didn’t help the last day so he’s had that surgery tweaked since.
Legends Gold Runner-up in the West Wales National last April, has added three more places in a row including third at Bangor to subsequent Becher Chase winner, Snow Leopardess.
Colorado Doc The Welsh National was a trip too far on soft the last day. But second in the Chepstow trial for that race, splitting the winners of the Welsh National and the Warwick Classic after a good run at Newbury in November.
El Paso Wood Four-timer in the French Provinces up to 2m 5f on soft-heavy before moving to David Pipe. Stayed on in the Sussex National (soft) at the turn of the year
Quarenta Pulled up last race last Spring and pulled up first race this winter. Needs to bounce back to Ascot winning form of November, 2020, but has won over 3m 2f close to today’s mark.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
