DETTORI SANDOWN DOUBLE DATE: It’s one of the big evening meetings of the year on Brigadier Gerard night at Sandown and Daqman takes you through the card with a strong nap and a challenge to Pricewise. He rates the rides of Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori, who is tipped for a double.

DAQMAN PRICEWISE CLASH: 34-8: The scores are 34-8 to Daqman as he clashes with Pricewise in the Henry 11 Stakes. Daqman keeps you updated daily on the Derby at Epsom and from tomorrow previews two big races in France this weekend, the reappearance of Treve and the French Derby.

DERBY UPDATE: THE MARKET IS STILL HIT FOR SIX

Found and Gleneagles Ante-post betting is still in chaos with 10 days left before the Epsom Derby, and three of the six market leaders not yet officially runners.

All eyes are on Ballydoyle, which must decide about 1,000 Guineas runner-up Found and 2,000 Guineas winner, Gleneagles.

Four others are marked ‘with a run’. Some bookmakers bet the entire field with a run! But what WILL run?

Found is 41.0 on BETDAQ this morning, yet 7-1 with one leading bookmaker. Elm Park, 11-2 with one firm, is 9.0 in the ante-post orange.

Golden Horn Must be supplemented by Monday after a seeming change of heart by the owner – brought on by the colt’s Dante success – to go to Epsom instead of the French Derby over two furlongs less. Laid back enough to cope with the extra trip, John Gosden told the trade paper, ‘but it’s a Derby with more depth than is appreciated.’

Jack Hobbs Gosden confirms that Jack Hobbs will go to Epsom. Frankie Dettori, who rode him second to Golden Horn in the Dante, will play musical saddles and take the golden route but fears Jack Hobbs most, particularly after the colt put in a sparkling gallop early this week.

Storm The Stars Winner of the Cocked Hat Derby trial at Goodwood. Described by the stable as ‘mentally still a teenager.’ Needs time and most likely target is the St Leger.

Success Days Ken Condon has been given the office to train the colt for the Epsom Derby, though he would be much more likely in the Irish Derby at The Curragh to get the easier surface that brought scintillating trial wins in the Ballysax and the Derrinstown.

SERENA CAN SCORE ON CAVALIERI AT HAYDOCK

4.50 Haydock There’s a bet here at around 6.0 on BETDAQ early mouse. Cavalieri, who has won for a lady amateur, has just about the best of them – Serena Brotherton – in the plate today, up against some old plodders (seven of the 10 runners are aged between eight and 13).

EAGLE TOP TO SWOOP IN BIG RACE AT SANDOWN

6.35 Sandown (National Stakes) Any one of these could step up, particularly from the five with one run, one win.

That quintet includes Steady Pace, who had subsequent winner King Of Rooks behind when he scored at Ascot.

But highly regarded at home, Case Key is heading for Royal Ascot, and Ryan Moore has been booked for this Listed prep. At 6.0 on BETDAQ this morning, allowing me a saver on the favourite.

7.10 Sandown (Henry II Stakes) Vent De Force, second in a Group 2 in France last season, coped well enough with fast ground in the Sagaro Stakes to stand a big chance tonight.

Forever Now was just behind him that day but his breeding suggests that 2m is the limit of his stamina and, as a freegoing sort, may be found out up the hill.

While Vent De Force is up 24lb on last year’s form, Trip To Paris has officially improved 19lb. He could go on to a four-timer today but this is a leap of two grades from class-2 handicap success.

Ryan Moore rides Ascot Gold Cup second and fourth, Simenon – hooded for the first time – on whom he won the Ascot Stakes.

I usually go for the improvers but the ground could really firm up tonight, and Simenon loved these conditions at Ascot (both Gold placings) and he may be able to gallop these into submission in the hood. Moore is a master tactician, so I’ll leave it to him.

7.45 Sandown (Brigadier Gerard Stakes) Another huge improver here. Tryster is up 29lb this year after a sequence of five on AW but he’s not certain to reproduce that on turf and he’s been beating Listed-level horses.

Arab Spring loves tonight’s sound surface and won the John Porter in a much higher league.

The snag with his form is that, of the John Porter placed horses behind him, one hadn’t got his ground and the other is notoriously hard to win with.

So I’m napping Eagle Top, who goes well fresh, won the Ascot Derby (King Edward V11 Stakes) on firmish going and then finished fourth in the King George. The 5.2 on BETDAQ this morning in a five-horse race was big value.

8.15 Sandown (Heron Stakes) Sir Michael Stoute, trainer of Arab Spring, can hit back here with the grey Consort, whom he reckons could have won the 2,000 Guineas, if he could have had him ready in time.

8.45 Sandown (Whitsun Cup) Keith Dalgleish brought front-runner Jacob Black down from Lanarkshire to Newmarket and he just failed to last out from the front at the Craven meeting after a 237-day absence.

The firm-ground winner is back from Scotland tonight, with Frankie Dettori taking over and might just stay in front this time. I took 8.0 on BETDAQ.
