10 FORTUNE COOKIES FOR ASCOT: Daqman today revises his Fortune Cookies in time for Royal Ascot next week. He particularly fancies doubles on Tuesday and Wednesday of the meeting. There are already eight ante-post lists on the BETDAQ betting site.
DAQMAN’S 22 LAYS UP OUT OF 28: Daqman landed his lay Carnageo yesterday, unplaced 7-2, taking his score to 22-28 for a 78% strike rate. Daqman moaned: ‘I can’t find winners right now but I can find losers!” Don’t worry, Daqman, Royal Ascot is one of your top meets.
AWTAAD JOINS DAQMAN FORTUNE-COOKIES
Awww! Wow! No, it’s Awtaad, who strode clear in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and right to the top of my three-year-old ratings (see yesterday’s column).
He’s the new addition to my Fortune Cookies top 10, which will now have nine probable runners at Royal Ascot next week.
Awtaad joins Cotai Glory and Profitable, as our Tuesday stars and, with A Shin Hikari and Usherette on Wednesday, gives us double chances on the first two days. The 10 are:
— A Shin Hikari (Masanori Sakaguchi) Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, Royal Ascot, next Wednesday
— Awtaad (Kevin Prendergast) St James’s Palace Stakes, Royal Ascot next Tuesday
-2 Cotai Glory (Charles Hills) Kings Stand Stakes, Royal Ascot, next Tuesday
— Exosphere (Sir Michael Stoute) Hardwicke Stakes, Royal Ascot, next Saturday
23 Found (Aidan O’Brien) Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, next Wednesday, or Eclipse Stakes, Sandown, July 2.
21 Minding (Aidan O’Brien) Coronation Stakes, Royal Ascot, Friday week, or Eclipse Stakes, Sandown, July 2
-1 So Mi Dar (John Gosden) Irish Oaks, The Curragh, July 16.
-1 Profitable (Clive Cox) Kings Stand Stakes, Royal Ascot, next Tuesday
-2 US Army Ranger (Aidan O’Brien) Irish Derby Stakes, The Curragh, June 25, or Eclipse Stakes, July 2.
— Usherette (Andre Fabre) Duke Of Cambridge Stakes, Royal Ascot, next Wednesday
-0 Arabian Queen DELETE: I can’t see where she goes from here. She is quoted for the Eclipse but that’s not a race for outsiders. Profit so far: + 14
HOPING FOR A SNOW DAY
3.05 Newbury A high quality Listed race. The nap runs in this one.
Sir Michael Stoute’s Abingdon is one to be feared. She beat the well regarded Ajman Princess at Ascot last time over today’s trip. That was her first run this season and there was a lot to like about it.
It may prove difficult to beat Snow Moon however. Out of the Classic winning Sariska, she won well at Nottingham last time having been third at the same track to the Oaks runner up, Architecture. She’s entered for the Ribbelsdale next week and will need to win this to justify her entry. I’m told that she’s working very well and should win this on her way to Royal Ascot.
3.25 Nottingham This looks interesting. It’s a wide open race with no real standout. As a result I’m going Each Way with one.
Little Palavar’s best form has been on a softer surface. However he hasn’t had many opportunities to run on good ground. One of those occasions came in a much better race at Glorious Goodwood last August. He looks to have some improvement and if we can put a line through his first run this season at Newbury, he’s in with a big shout.
4.20 Yarmouth Racing returned to Yarmouth yesterday and it was well received.
Lord George is the notable runner here. Back on turf having broken his maiden tag on the All Weather, he’s definitely one to be feared. He should be well capable of handling the ground and it’s very difficult to see anything with enough improvement to go close. A mark of 82 is very lenient.
8.15 Haydock There’s a few question marks here. The one that hasn’t many is What Say You.
Karl Burke’s charge struggled when upped in class last season. Back now at a more realistic level, she should go very close. Ground and trip shouldn’t pose any issues and in an open looking race, she’s the one that we can have a little confidence in.
