DAQMAN NAP WINS: NOW FOR A SUPERNAP: Daqman, who landed his nap at Salisbury yesterday with Asaassi, now goes to Newcastle for a supernap. He has another so-called ‘good thing’ at Leicester. He’s trying to keep the short–priced winners going in small fields on firmish ground. Rain welcome!

WON 8-11 ASAASSI (nap)

PREP MEETINGS MARK YOUR CARD FOR JULY: A three-day session on the Newmarket July Course adds to last week’s novice races there. Between the two, you could find star names for the July Meeting next month.

SPOT PREP RUNS BY FUTURE STARS

SEE HOW THEY WON! Would you like to find horses of the calibre of Baaeed, Inspiral, Lusail and Noble Truth before other punters spot them?

The answer is to check out the results on the July Course at Newmarket, which opened last Friday and continues today, tomorrow and Saturday.

It’s a stable’s obvious place to prep for a couple of weeks’ time, plotting their horses to win big races at the famous July Meeting on the same course (July 7, 8, 9):

🏇 BAAEED WON Listed race (10-11 favourite), Newmarket, July 8, last year after winning a novice stakes on the July Course on June 19. Winner of that novice race this year: Sense Of Wisdom.

🏇 LUSAIL WON the July Stakes (15-2), Newmarket, July 8, last year, after winning a novice stakes on the July Course on June 19; Noble Truth third. Winner of the novice stakes this year: Victory Dance.

🏇 ARDBRACCAN WON maiden fillies (13-2), Newmarket, July 10, after her dd-ht 2ND to Inspiral in fillies’ maiden on June 26 last year. Look out for Daqman’s tip for this year’s equivalent race which opens the Newmarket July Course card on Saturday. Could it have a one-two like that?

Check back, check forward targets at more results of last week’s July Course meeting and the one over three days: today, Friday and Saturday.

DREAM DOUBLE FOR HOT CLAIMER

⭕ 2.35 Newmarket (6f handicap) Leap Abroad has progressed this year. The class-6 AW winner in December, has been second, then first, at today’s class-4 level, AW (Lingfield) and turf (Pontefract), taking him up the scale 23lb.

He is 21221 under apprentice Mohammed Tabti, who was stood down after his manoeuvre taking Leap Abroad to the rail at Pontefract on firm the last day.

Lethal Levi has won twice at this level and was not disgraced attempting a class-2 contest at York the last day. Devaste was just in front of him then behind the winner, Harry Three, who was afterwards raised 10lb to 107.

Neptunian is dropped back a furlong – and has had wind surgery -since his reappearance defeat in April behind Samburu, who now races off 105.

There are clearly horses here that can be upgraded, notably Devaste, who also has the benefit of Harry Davies’s claim, so may be well in.

⭕ 3.45 Newmarket (7f handicap) Dream Show could land a Harry Davies’ double here but has performed best with cut in the ground.

Showed plenty of guts when dead-heating with the hat-trick seeker, Hebrides, who was afterwards lofted to 89 and could go for his four-timer at Chester on Saturday.

Dream Show can race here off 81, including Harry Davies’s allowance, so will carry only 8st 2lb, as a three-year-old against older horses.

Ralph Beckett also saddles a three-year-old, Deodar, who has to carry a stone more than Dream Show on the strength of a Listed second (soft ground) in October to the Commonwealth Cup runner-up, Flaming Rib.

Deodar opened his season on firm ground at Doncaster, scoring off 98, but the handicapper was not impressed with the hard-puller and reduced his rating for today’s first handicap to 95.

BETDAQ value 2.94 Devaste (2.35), 4.2 Dream Show (3.45). Bet stop at a winner, with a single-point double the two.

SHINING NEWCASTLE HAT-TRICK

⭕ 2.45 Newcastle (Seaton Delaval Handicap, 1m) This is the feature race on the opening afternoon of the three-day Northumberland Plate (Pitman’s Derby) meeting.

Saeed Bin Suroor, showing a 26% strike rate on the Newcastle track, tries for a treble with Shining Blue, who gets in off 94, having won his maiden and a novice stakes race at class-4 and class-5 levels.

Daniel Tudhope launched his Royal Ascot four-timer on a 20-1 shot for this stable last week, but won’t be much better than 4-5 on Shining Blue.

The gelding is doubly engaged at Glorious Goodwood at the end of July. The choice is between the 7f Group-2 Lennox Stakes and the Golden Mile.

Headgear is removed from Irish Admiral, fourth in the Lincoln tongue-tied, and down the field in the Newbury Spring Cup, with cheekpieces added.

La Tihaty landed a four-timer, two either side of a 348-day break, but could not handle an overall rise of a stone. Gelded now.

Baldomero is an AW-only winner (Dundalk and Kempton), unpredictable and still a bit high in the weights.

Also unpredictable is Hartswood. Winner of this race last year, he is 7lb lower but has a poor strike-rate.

Bowland Park’s sixth in a big-field handicap at the Epsom Derby meeting was his best run since back-to-back wins on the soft last summer.

HE WILL HAVE THEM ALL AT SEA

⭕ 6.15 Leicester After his regulation three runs in novice and maiden, I Am The Sea drops neatly into this class-6 handicap off 67, as a proverbial ‘good thing’.

Stayed on well at Nottingham over shorter in the race won by Secret State, who went on to Royal Ascot and won the class-2 King George V Handicap, and earned himself 100 rating.

The runner-up also won next time, foiling a hat-trick bid by Roxzoff (an 87 horse) and earning himself a mark of 94.
