DAQMAN 11 PRICEWISE 4 ON WINNERS: Daqman went 11-4 up on Pricewise since the start of the Flat season with winning nap number 35 of the year, Gaelic Warrior (WON 4-5), 10-lengths winner at Punchestown yesterday, setting himself up for a serious role in next season’s major prizes.

20-1 FASTORSLOW GOES GALOPIN BY: The Gold Cup clash of Bravemansgame and Galopin Des Champs saw a finish just as it had been at Cheltenham with Galopin getting the upper hand after the last but with 20-1 outsider Fastorslow muscling in on the run-in and beating both! A pint of excuses all round.

TODAY: The Stayers Hurdle: another upset?

FRESH FISH FOR THE STAYERS

⭕ 5.25 Punchestown (Champion Stayers Hurdle) Famous four-timer by Quevega (2010-13) which the same stable – Willie Mullins’ yard, of course – is halfway to emulating with Klassical Dream. Can he land the hat-trick today?

Your problem at Punchestown is unchanged: has racing at Cheltenham and Fairyhouse left its mark and will fresh horses step forward? Ratings order:

162 Teahupoo Good-to-yielding ground may not be his cup of tea but showers were forecast for today.

Won the Galmoy Hurdle (soft-heavy) in January on his first try at 3m and was placed in the Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham, when Klassical Dream, whom he had beaten a neck at Fairyhouse, failed to give his running.

160 Klassical Dream Four in a row as a novice, including the Supreme at Cheltenham and the Champion Novice here.

Form fell away when trying to match the older horses, until hooded and winner of this Stayers Hurdle here and the Christmas Hurdle (also 3m) at Leopardstown.

Won today’s race again last season but, before and after, was beaten in the Galmoy, the Stayers at Cheltenham and at Auteuil, and the Hatton’s Grace by a neck to Teahupoo

160 Sire Du Berlais Spring horse completing Liverpool Hurdle double earlier this month, after sudden return to form despite his age – he’s 11 – to take the Stayers at Cheltenham. Remarkable if he can land hat-trick at this stage. See Ashdale Bob.

152 Monkfish won seven in a row, two of them at the Cheltenham Festival (Albert Bartlett 2020 and Brown Advisory 2021).

Enforced two-year absence until coming from rear at Fairyhouse 17 days ago to go close in a 2m 4f Grade 2, ‘thrilling’ connections, in narrow defeat by Asterion Forlonge.

150 Ashdale Bob Runner-up in this race last year, always held by Klassical Dream, with Sir Du Berlais staying-on fourth.

150 Asterion Forlonge Winner twice at Punchestown but both were chases. Returned to hurdles this year, beaten by Summervlle Boy at Thurles before narrowly holding on from Monkfish the last day in a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse.

149 Meet And Greet Only 1-10 over hurdles (won only his maiden; always a bad sign). Third in the Grade-1 Novice Hurdle here a year back and third again in the Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown, half a length behind Ashdale Bob. But 17 lengths off Sire Du Berlais in the Liverpool Hurdle.

144 Summerville Boy Supreme winner at Cheltenham back in the day for Tom George. Returned to form for Henry De Bromhead, distant second to Teahupoo in the Galmoy before beating Asterion Forlonge, going away, at Thurles last month.

140 Whatdeawant A fourth Willie Mullins runner after Klassical Dream, Monkfish and Asterion Forlonge; very lightly raced, third in last year’s Ballymore.

Betdaq Betting Exchange: 5.8 Monkfish

TOUCHY TRIO: BETDAQ 8.2 TO 9.9

⭕ 3.40 Punchestown (Handicap hurdle) Broomfield Hall won this last year after breaking her maiden the race before; her stable’s Broomfield Bijou attempts the same, after breaking her duck at Ballinrobe two weeks back.

BETDAQ value 9.9 Broomfield Bijou.

⭕ 4.50 Punchestown (La Touche) Horses who do well on the banks course do well again but this is a grand national of the discipline, run over 4m 2f.

Scottish Borders National runner-up Clonguile Way took to this course in February but was hampered behind Stealthy Tom and could close down the gap between them over the extra distance.

BETDAQ value 9.2 Clonguile Way.

⭕ 6.15 Chelmsford Spirited Guest, getting weight all round here, has Chelmsford form below class 3 of 12012.

BETDAQ value 8.2 Spirited Guest.
