CATULLUS SET TO POUNCE
⭕ 2.45 Sandown Charlie Appleby is on a hat-trick after a weekend double and simultaneously on a hat-trick in this race, with subsequent 2,000 Guineas winner Ruling Court scoring last year.
He’s had 20 juvenile wins this year at a 40% strike rate. Compare with Team Gosden (1-17 on turf!)
LAYS LOGIC Yet I see that Publish (Gosdens) was odds-on this morning, Catullus (Appleby) 3.8 offers on Betdaq Betting Exchange. Yes, better than 11-4 in a two-horse race; 33.0 bar.
⭕ 3.20 Sandown A must-watch race! Ollie Sangster (Hayynah) goes for a hat-trick in this 2yo fillies Listed but it’s an event Team Johnston (Jennifer Jane) have already won three times in the decade.
They face Richard Hannon (Orion’s Belt) with a juvenile squad that’s scored 15 wins this year, Karl Burke (who’s had 30) and Team Gosden, only just starting to campaign with theirs.
Hope Queen (BETDAQ 9.6) gets my vote on breeding, Jennifer Jane (11.0) for value; Orions Belt the stakes saver in a fabulous punter friendly 102% Back All list. With just a bit of manoeuvring, you really can back all if you must!
PENDRAGON ‘UTHER’ CHAOS
⭕ 3.55 Sandown A reminder of how the handicapper has many times tried and failed to halt the progress of a Sir Mark Prescott sequence horse.
To the delight of punters, the brazen baronet, who waited until he was 74 to win an Arc, is still doing one-man demolition jobs on the weights.
He’s trained Pendragon to soar 25lb from a class-5 double and a class-4 hat-trick strike here at Sandown only three weeks ago.
And Pendragon has done it in a manner which so mocks the handicapper – winning all three races four or five lengths every time – as to create ‘uther’ chaos in the ratings computer.
Two of the opposition have been playing one-two tag, with Torriance beating Gravitas (at Beverley) beating Torriance (at Doncaster).
The danger to Pendragon is not in their form but in whether either – or both – will improve for an extra two furlongs. Boatswain is also trying a new trip; Tremorgio has tried it and failed.
I’M SO KEEN ON ‘MUSTARD’
⭕ 8.40 Yarmouth A tough class-2 handicap but we are only able to choose bets in the races they frame for us.
At least we have BETDAQ on our side. With only 12 runners last year, the SP was 121% overround but, with a similar field, today I could take offers in a max 110% total list of offers.
Rathgar is back just a pound higher than when winning a year ago, with the only three-year-old challenger that day finishing 10th.
LAYS LOGIC: Morning favourite Wave Rider is the sole second-season hope this time (from a wide draw), his maiden already let down by defeats for third, fourth and fifth.
Harry Eustace won the Commonwealth Cup with Time For Sandals. Well, it’s time for Wellington boots today and a chance for Mustazeed, back to his best trip on ground he loves.
Only his second run of a season so far dominated by sound surfaces. A tasty 17.0 win and place (2.66) this morning.
One-time Grade-3 winner Epictetus has scored twice on soft and is now a stone lower than his rating in the Champions Mile of 2023. BETDAQ 8.8 taken.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
