BUICK BURST LANDS ANOTHER DAQMAN NAP: All-weather racing struggles on to keep the sport going, but Daqman is a man for all seasons. He’s had two winners out of three two days out of three with two naps up! Yesterday’s, Maso Bastie, looked out of the frame at 500.00 in running, until William Buick produced him with a lightning late burst to get up on the line.

Wednesday profit on the day 15.50
WON 11-8 MASO BASTIE (nap)
WON 11-8 HICKORY

Monday: profit on the day 16.90
WON 6-1 OWER STARLIGHT
WON 6-4 VITESSE DU SON (nap)

TODAY: On AW today, Daqman heads to Southwell for his best bet of the day with two later selections running at Chelmsford, Jumps racing in England remains frozen off and not hopeful for the weekend but Thurles on Sunday is currently ‘fit to race’.

JUMPS RACING FROZEN OFF

⚠️ ASCOT: Tomorrow’s card has been frozen off and after an earlier than planned inspection this morning Saturday’s Long Walk Hurdle day is also off.

⚠️ HAYDOCK: The Tommy Whittle card at Haydock has also been cancelled but there are ‘hopeful’ signs in Ireland.

⚠️ IRELAND: Fairyhouse (Saturday) and Navan (Sunday) are currently ‘unraceable’ but the Navan track officials are ‘hopeful of a weekend thaw and Thurles (Sunday) reports that they are currently ‘fit to race’ on yielding ground, while Punchestown (Monday) also hopes for a change in the weather though could not currently race. Naas today has been rescheduled for Tuesday.

⭕ 2.10 Punchestown, Monday (John Durkan Memorial Chase) A speedy rearrangement has potentially saved the John Durkan after last Sunday’s Punchestown card had to be abandoned.

The two most celebrated winners of this 2m 4f chase were Don Cossack, the 2014 winner, and Djakadam (2015 and 16 double), who famously finished first and second in the 2016 Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Min landed a hat-trick (2018-20) among Willie Mullins’ seven strikes since 2013, with Allaho taking over the crown a year back.

Allaho broke the mould in that he was the only one of the seven not to start favourite (Envoi Allen was 7-4).

The Mullins talking horse this time is Galopin Des Champs, five wins out of six and a Daqman Fortune Cookie.

POLITICS GETS NAP VOTE

⭕ 5.05 Southwell Even the all-weather cards have needed inspections today to get the green light which hopefully will be good news for the nap Politics.

Trained by Michael Appleby, Politics is owned by the shrewd Horsewatchers syndicate who have landed plenty of tilts in the ring in these colours.

I’m not sure he will get much shorter than the morning 2.5 on Betdaq Betting Exchange as it remains a class 6 handicap when all is said and done but his chance looks pretty clear on paper.

He seemed to lose his way when trained by Phillip Makin and the change of stable brought about an immediate improvement when he chased home Amor De Mi Vida at Newcastle earlier this month.

The step up back up to six furlongs has to be a positive and there is the strong possibility that he is on a generous handicap mark at present.

Whilst this is a big field, there is a paucity of current form amongst his rivals who are generally thoroughly exposed at this level.

IN THE CAVERN CLUB

⭕ 6.00 Chelmsford I didn’t think there was as much between Super Mo and Cavern Club as the market is suggesting, so naturally want to be with the bigger priced runner.

The expected favourite Super Mo is being stepped up again in distance – I always find it slightly alarming when a horse is running over three completely different trips in just three starts. He’s gone from 7f to 1m to 1m 2f. The plan may work but I don’t want to be paying a short price to find out – especially with a trainer that’s 0-10 at the moment.

There’s also a question mark over the form of Marco Botti but his Cavern Club brings solid enough form into this including a first start on the all-weather when third at Wolverhampton. He takes a less dramatic step up in trip and hopefully the first time cheekpieces will prove a positive.

A BRAINWAVE

⭕ 8.30 Chelmsford Brains has been tumbling down the weights but his latest effort at Wolverhampton was much more like it and he was unfortunate not to finish better than fifth having been denied a clear run.

In the end he was only beaten 2 1/4 lengths anyway and might finally land a first success of the year. He last won off a mark of 80 at Kempton last winter so he remains of interest off just 71 now and on the back of a decent last start.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
