DAQMAN KEEPS THE WINNERS COMING IN: He’s still earning that epithet, winner-a-day Daqman, with hardly an intervention! After scoring with his nap on Monday, he’s had two juicy prices. He has four bets today at wide-ranging offers on BETDAQ.

🔹 WON 5-2 INTERVENTION (Wednesday)
🔹 WON 11-4 SAVVY BRILLIANCE (Tuesday)
🔹 WON 8-13 JEUNE BELLE (Monday nap)

THREE CARDS GO AHEAD IN ENGLAND: Sadly the Warwick card today is cancelled, with some parts of the track unraceable. Newcastle (after an inspection) and Taunton Jumps cards go ahead, along with Chelmsford AW on the Flat.

PLUS Daqman guide to Saturday’s December Gold Cup

GAMBLE AFTER COBDEN SWITCH

⭕ 1.50 Cheltenham Saturday (December Gold Cup) AGE: 22 of the last 24 renewals went to horses aged six, seven and eight. Rare interventions by Frodon (aged 4) in 2016 and Coole Cody, aged 10 last year, the first winner of a double-figure age since 1974.

WEIGHT Only Frodon in his second victory in the race (2018 aged 6 with 11-12) has carried more than 11st 8lb since 1996. Just two winners in the last 11 years have carried more than 10st 12lb.

TRAINERS: Paul Nicholls 5, Nicky Henderson 2, Jonjo O’Neill 2, David Pipe 2. JOCKEYS: Sam Twiston-Davies 2.

RATINGS: Just how much of a standout was Frodon! He was set 149 and later 164, where the winners surrounding his dates scored off 134 (twice), 151 and 143.

SATURDAY’S FIELD: Fakir D’Oudairies off 162, carries 12st, which drops all bar Fugitif (11st 3lb) to 10st 12lb and below, with seven runners on marks which give them between 9st 2lb and 10st 2lb.

So there will be a lot of overweight unless Fakir D’Oudairies drops out, and those in between with the right stats are:

EASY AS THAT (Venetia Williams) Just three races as a chaser outside novice company, winning Haydock and Newcastle handicaps last season but well beaten, kept on sixth, in the Autumn Gold Cup here last month.

IL RIDOTO (Paul Nicholls) Has won only one chase since getting off the mark two years back; that was the January Grade 3 over the CD, beating Fugitif (Richard Hobson) a length in receipt of 5lb. Bryony Frost rides after Harry Cobden’s switch to Monmiral.

JAY JAY REILLY (Dan Skelton) Winning novice in small fields twice in the Spring but well beaten in senior handicaps this autumn.

MONMIRAL (Paul Nicholls) Gamble of the week after the Cobden switch from Il Ridoto. Grade-1 hurdler but has never won over fences and absent 245 days. Yet Paul Nicholls sees him ‘coming on tons.’

SO SCOTTISH (Emmet Mullins) Broke hurdle maiden at seventh attempt. Small-field novice winner over fences twice last autumn. Finished close up to Il Ridoto (but well behind Fugitif) when the pair were sixth and seventh over the CD in the Plate at the Cheltenham Festival.

THUNDER ROCK (Olly Murphy) The favourite but winner only of small-field races (three from seven) since October last year; sixth in the Brown Advisory. A Carlisle Listed in November on his return from the break is his only success outside novice company.

LARCHMONT LASS IS WELL IN

⭕ 1.30 Taunton The Walk In the Park filly Larchmont Lass, classy enough to win a Listed bumper at Sandown, has been jumping hurdles at home since last Spring.

‘She jumps great,’ says Paul Nicholls, who gave her a pipe-opener in another good bumper, won at Cheltenham by a Willie Mullins mare with my Monday winning nap in second.

Ballee won a big-field hurdle here at Taunton in late November, after defeat at Wincanton – needing the run – behind a comfortable Paul Nicholls winner Meatloaf, who had beaten Coastal Rock eight lengths in a bumper last April.

Larchmont Lass gets a stone from Ballee today on very different ground to the sound Taunton surface of Ballee’s success last month.

Flat-race winner on heavy, Time Interval is interesting, second run for David Pipe, and others may emerge from the unexposed but this is surely a good opportunity for Larchmont Lass at 2.56 on Betdaq Betting Exchange this morning.

HOLDING OUT FOR HEROS..

⭕ 3.15 Taunton Another youngster is here cleverly placed by Venetia Williams to carry bottomweight on the same track as his CD victory in his first chase last month, putting up[ a fast time.

Heros is up against three horses needing the run after between 200 and 675 days off: Jacamar, Skinflint and Tokay Dokay.

He gets more than a stone from Can You Call and Raffle Ticket, leaving Guy as the one that would worry me most.

Guy has not been disgraced in higher class at Cheltenham the last twice, and today returns to his winning trip at this level in October. It’s just that his winning form is all on good ground.

⭕ 5.30 Chelmsford Hutchence, a Frankel colt out of a High Chaparral mare, made his debut for Ralph Beckett at Newmarket, always a sign of high regard.

Hutchence was made favourite but was never in the picture on heavy ground, needing the run. He was again all the rage when markets opened last night.

⭕ 6.30 Chelmsford Another gamble this morning followed word on the grapevine about Burlington House, in from 18-1 to 10-1 with some bookmakers but still 18.0 on this exchange as I write.
