NOW FOUR DAQMAN BEST BETS UP OUT OF FIVE: Daqman landed his fourth winning nap out of five through Motawaazy (WON 8-11) at Catterick yesterday, following Caramelised (WON 2-9) on Monday after back-to-back weekend supernaps, Reach For The Moon (WON 2-5) and Skazino (WON 2-7).

DAQMAN’S GUIDE TO SATURDAY’S CELEBRATION: Here are stats and form in ratings order for Saturday’s Celebration Mile at Goodwood.

TODAY A Fortune Cookie and nap at Tipperary.

TOP DUO FOR BENBATL HONOURS

⭕ 3.35 Goodwood, Saturday (Celebration Mile) Saeed bin Suroor has won this four times and Oisin Murphy is three times a winner in the saddle. Now the race’s top trainer and jockey team up with Benbatl, top of the ratings but absent 337 days.

118 BENBATL Has had four breaks in three years; he won each time after the first three, including the Joel Stakes in September, 2019, but was third in the same return race a year ago, though only a length behind Guineas winner Kameko. Here he is again after another break since that day (Saeed bin Suroor, aged 7)

113 CHINDIT Top-weighted of the three-year-olds. Won the Greenham before three consecutive Group-1 fifth-placed finishes behind Poetic Flare (2,000 Guineas and St James Palace Stakes) and behind the Jacques Le Marois one-two of Palace Pier and Poetic Flare. Might have been closer at Ascot but short of room two out and lost right-fore shoe (Richard Hannon, aged 3)

112 HAPPY POWER Won the Ladbrokes Supreme Stakes here last year as middle leg of a hat-trick, all over 7f (beat Pogo in one of them). Distant view of Palace Pier twice in the Spring but half-length third to Kinross in the Lennox Stakes, back at Goodwood on soft last month (Andrew Balding, 5)

111 STORMY ANTARCTIC Third in this in 2018 and won Group 2 (Italy) and Group 3 (Germany) in 2019 but best performance was 2020 runner-up in the Ispahan to French Guineas winner and subsequent Arc third, Persian King. Has struggled since at Group level but back to winning form in Goodwood Listed in the Spring of this year (Ed Walker, 8yo)

110 AL SUHAIL Hyped horse, always a short price. Listed winner at Newmarket (July) last year, and was Group-1 third at Meydan and Group-2 third at Ascot in July which made him favourite for the Hungerford but he was well beaten (sixth) by Sacred. The handicapper has not been impressed and has dropped him 3lb. (Charles Appleby, 4)

110 PEROTTO Goodwood form: 1214. Surprise winner of the Britannia at Royal Ascot. Seemingly unmasked in the Bunbury Cup (9th) but beaten only a length, third in a Group-3 at Salisbury earlier this month (Marcus Tregoning, aged 3).

110 POGO Big leap from handicaps (Royal Hunt Cup third) to Group-1 placed in the Ispahan last July. Well beaten at big odds behind Palace Pier twice this term (Charles Hills, 5).

108 DUKE OF HAZZARD Lifetime Goodwood form: 1120. Won this in 2019 (going good) but not scored since and only fifth last year (going soft), after close second on the course in the Lennox Stakes (good) in the July. Despite rain-softened ground, ran a decent third at York last week against the big improver Real World (Paul and Oliver Cole)

108 LA BARROSA Craven Stakes runner-up, weakened final furlong in Irish 2,000 Guineas and, not clear run, 10th of 13 in St James’s Palace Stakes. Gelded (Charlie Appleby, aged 3).

108 MUTASAABEQ Conditions race winner at Haydock (7f); had finished seventh, supplemented, in the 2,000 Guineas (Charles Hills, aged 3) .

107 BRENTFORD HOPE Handicap winner on soft and heavy, stepped up in grade, second in the Group-3 Messidor at Chantilly last month; kept on, 1m good to soft (Richard Hughes, 4)

106 LAVENDER’S BLUE Rating has remained more or less static for two years, her sole success in 11 starts a Listed on Polytrack at Kempton, but placed twice in Group races including defeat by only a length to Lady Bowthorpe at Newmarket in the Spring.

106 RHOSCOLYN Raised 20lb since handicap winner at Goodwood in the Spring, 7f, soft; second the last day in the Golden Mile here, raised to 1m class 2 (David O’Meara, aged 3)

104 ESCOBAR Goodwood form over four years 0033303, best of them probably Golden Mile third last month. One-time 111 rated but has now gone 20 races without a win (David O’Meara, 7).

HISTORY TO BE MADE AT TIPPERARY

⭕ 4.50 Tipperary I was well impressed at the Curragh with the Galileo filly History, a 2,800,000gns yearling, whose breeding represents something of a late experiment with Galileo, this being the first foal of Prize Exhibit, a full sister to Sussex Stakes winner Mohaather.

History has her second start today for Aidan O’Brien after showing up well when second at the Curragh 18 days ago. She is well entered up in the Moyglare, the Rockfel and the Fillies Mile.

Mohaather was also second first time out before landing a hat-trick, including the Horris Hill as a juvenile and the Greenham first run back in her second season.

History was 3.25 in the BETDAQ Sportsbook early doors but the Fortune Cookie bet will be settled at SP, as ever.

TIME AND A PLACE

⭕ 5.05 Chelmsford Katherine Place has been living up to her name – at least the place part of it having not finished outside the top four in her nine starts this season.

Having been pipped a neck in both of her last two races she surely deserves to get her head in front and with several of her principal rivals struggling for this might well be her night.

Rockesbury has been running over 7f and has his first race over this trip since 2017. Whether that’s an inspired move or one of slight desperation remains to be seen.

Cable Guy is progressive in that he is lightly raced but there has only been a glimmer of hope from his last two starts and more is needed.

A bigger danger may come from the course and distance winner Tilsworth Rose but this is tougher than her win here 11 days ago in a classified contest.

SOCKS AWAY

⭕ 6.50 Sedgefield A really competitive handicap hurdle, despite the field size of six.

I thought Socks Off looked interesting. He wasn’t disgraced on his handicap debut last time out when fourth at Market Rasen. It was simply a case of the near three mile trip proving beyond him. A drop in trip tonight looks sensible and the 4lb drop in the weights (if this trip theory proves correct) is simply an added bonus.

Beach Break was prominent in the early BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE market but has been struggling to recapture the kind of form that saw him win over course and distance in October.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
