WHERE THE WINNERS COME FROM: Work backwards from the recent Cheltenham Festival winners in all divisions and log the races where those winners come from. That’s one of the Daqman series of horses to follow. Today: Cheltenham this weekend.
WARWICK NAP: Daqman heads to Warwick for his best bet of the day on Thursday.
PEAKY SET TO RUN A BLINDER
WEEKEND winners at Cheltenham on Saturday and Sunday have gone on to win at the Festival three months later.
Among them Blaklion scored in the Brown Advisory and Corach Rambler in the Ultima before later finishing in the frame in the Grand National: Blaklion (4th) and Corach Rambler (winner).
Fancied to make up from Saturday’s novice chase over an extended 3m to take in a Cheltenham staying event and then potentially the Grand National are Peaky Boy and Westerninthepark.
Peaky Boy (Nicky Henderson) and Westerninthepark (Ollly Murphy) were first and second in a shorter novices handicap at the November meeting.
Recent winners on Saturday and Sunday who went on to make their mark up to and including the Festival in March:
Triumph Hurdle Trial
2017 Apple’s Shakira also won the January Triumph Hurdle Trial
2016 Defi Du Seuil won the Triumph Hurdle and Aintree equivalent
2014 Hargam third in the Triumph Hurdle (16 ran)
Novices Chase (3m 1.5f)
2021 Corach Rambler won the Ultima
2015 Blaklion won the Brown Advisory
December Gold Cup
2018 Frodon Won the Ryanair Chase
2021 Coole Cody Won the Plate
2m handicap chase
2020 Shy Pirate Won the Grand Annual
HOPEFUL NAP
⭕ 2.25 Warwick The card starts with three maiden hurdles which I’ll swerve as there is precious little form to work with.
I’m also leaving out the listed Lady Godiva Mares’ Novices’ Chase as the case for You Wear It Well is obvious on official ratings but I am not overkeen on taking odds-on on Betdaq Betting Exchange about a mare who has been beaten at 5/4, 1/2 and 5/4 the last three times she has been sent off as market leader.
Mr Hope Street looks a safer short price play in this 2m 4f handicap hurdle. The Dan Skelton trained runner is out again quickly after his easy win at Southwell last week and on the evidence of that five length win, the seven pound statutory penalty is unlikely to stop his progress.
He’s unlucky not to be coming into this on the back of a four-timer – a narrow defeat at Carlisle just blotting the copybook and he should see off the chief challenge of Don’t Tell Su who was no match for Act Of Authority at Sandown last time out but should find this one drop in class easier.
The Charlie Longsdon trained Moon Over Mexico is back after a 317 day break and is seeking a hat-trick after the narrowest of back to back wins – a neck and a dead-heat! The market is probably our best guide and it wasn’t positive in morning exchanges.
BLUE THEM AWAY
⭕ 7.00 Chelmsford This class 2 handicap is by far the best race of the night and presents a good opportunity for the David Evans trained Blue Prince to win for the first time since landing a class 3 handicap at Glorious Goodwood.
He seems just as effective on the all-weather (2 from 9) and came back after a short break to run a solid fourth at Lingfield last month after which the handicapper has dropped him a pound. He travelled well for much of the race but just looked in need of the outing.
Top weight and likely favourite Kingdom Come looks opposable on recent efforts. He only beat one home at Kempton last time out and it’s a big ‘if’ to think he is in the same kind of form that saw him win a similar event back in April at Wolverhampton.
SILVER TURNING TO GOLD
⭕ 8.00 Chelmsford I was taken by the run of Aberama Gold at Wolverhampton last time out and fully expect him to reverse the form with three quarters of a length conqueror Fiscal Policy.
The pair pulled nicely clear but Aberama Gold looks the one more likely to build on that effort whereas Fiscal Policy is now on the heady heights of a career high mark.
I must also include Hiatus after his impressive four length course and distance win last week and he could now be well in front of the handicapper.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
