GINGER HOT FOR DAQMAN AS HOLLIE LANDS A KEMPTON TREBLE: That wily old fox, Daqman, made a profit on the day yesterday, thanks to his staking plan and some value offers on the BETDAQ exchange. His nap, Ardmayle, was gambled in from 4.5 to 15-8 favourite but was overtaken in the last 100 yards, Ginger Fox (WON 9-4 from BETDAQ 5.0 taken) coming to the rescue, as the middle leg of Hollie Doyle’s Kempton treble.

There are 12 Daqman previous winners among the 105 entries for this year’s Grand National, announced yesterday for April 4 at Liverpool. Here they are with the offers he found on the BETDAQ exchange last night.

🏇 Burrows Saint 18.0 BETDAQ (Willie Mullins) WON 6-1 (Irish Grand National) for Daqman in April 2019; third in the Drinmore in December, then sprang a surprise by winning over hurdles (at 13-2) at Punchestown over less than two-and-a-half miles.
🏇 Crievehill 62.0 BETDAQ (Nigel Twiston-Davies) Jumped the National fences in the 2018 Grand Sefton; fourth in the Kim Muir fourth at Cheltenham last year and WON 4-1 for Daqman in November.
🏇 Death Duty 47.0 BETDAQ (Gordon Elliott) Three in a row in 2018, beating Rathvinden in the Drinmore. Reappeared in the Galmoy Hurdle (4th) last month.
🏇 Delta Work 43.0 BETDAQ (Gordon Elliott) RSA third at Cheltenham, then Punchestown Champion Novice. Won the Savills Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas and one of Daqman’s 12 Fortune Cookie horses to follow.
🏇 Elegant Escape 28.0 BETDAQ (Colin Tizzard) WON 3-1 Coral Welsh Grand National for Daqman in 2018 after second in the Ladbrokes Trophy. Third in the same race in November.
🏇 Le Breuil 21.0 BETDAQ (Ben Pauling) WON 14-1 NH Chase Cheltenham for Daqman last March and seventh in the Becher Chase over the National fences in December.
🏇 Native River 22.0 BETDAQ (Colin Tizzard) Ladbrokes Trophy (then known as the Hennessy) and Coral Welsh Grand National winner of 2016 and Cheltenham Gold Cup 2018. Back to form at Aintree in December.
🏇 Potters Corner 29.0 BETDAQ (Christian Williams) Won Coral Welsh Grand National in December.
🏇 Roaring Bull 72.0 BETDAQ (Gordon Elliott) Sixth in the Irish Grand National and WON 16-1 for Daqman in PP Chase at Leopardstown in December.
🏇 Tiger Roll 7.2 BETDAQ (Gordon Elliottt) All’s well for his Grand National hat-trick bid. He was one of Daqman’s picks when he completed the double last year but he put two in front of him so really he was opposing the horse that WON 10-1 for him in the 2018 race after another big bet, WON 7-1, for him in the Cheltenham Cross-Country.
🏇 Vintage Clouds 38.0 BETDAQ (Sue Smith) WON 7-1 for Daqman only recently, when back to form in the Peter Marsh; second in a big field at Cheltenham but then fell in the 2019 Grand National.
🏇 Walk In The Mill 18.5 BETDAQ 4th 25-1 for Daqman in last year’s National; and WON 8-1 for Daqman over the same big fences (Becher Chase) in December.
FRY’S HOT CHILLI IS HIGHLY RATED
1.10 Wincanton The winner of this opening 2m 5f plus mares novices’ hurdle is not hard to find: six out of seven have gone to favourites or nearly so.
Paul Nicholls (Cill Anna) and Harry Fry (Whitehotchillifili), who used to train out of Paul’s Ditcheat yard, seem to have the race between them. Fry’s filly looks hottest.
Cill Anna has won over the trip but the Chillifili had the speed and hurdling ability to make all here over the minimum on this course, though bred to go round again! The official handicapper rates her 6lb higher than the Nicholls runner, and she has been backed accordingly this morning.
1.45 Wincanton There are doubts about the ground for Tea Clipper and Misty Groom, while chaser Lillington is 0-9 over hurdles and, of course, Earth Moor is without Richard Johnson, his rider for the hat-trick.
Paul Nicholls’ mare Danse Idol was well behind Misty Bloom on today’s course in November but, as favourite that day, clearly didn’t run her race on the better ground.
Down in trip and grade now, and jockey Lorcan Williams has more experience than most of the conditionals and amateurs in this race in the mud. Nicholls and Williams have combined for a 43% strike rate at Wincanton. The BETDAQ 8.6 looked value for money.
HE’S THE ONE FOR ME, SAYS SAM..
2.20 Wincanton Devon Stayers winner at Exeter last Spring, One For Us came back to form in November to win the Southern National at Fontwell.
He might have bagged the Lord Stalbridge Memorial over today’s CD 13 months back had the ground been softer. In the event, he ran second to subsequent Coral Welsh Grand National winner Potters Corner.
Sam Twiston-Davies was on board at Exeter and he swerves the favourite this morning, Moving In Style, saying One For Us is the one for me.
Up in the weights but still well placed in this handicap off 10st 8lb and has never had a punishing time; usually racing just four times a year. The 11.0 in the BETDAQ orange was far too big.
Worthy Farm won the Lord Stalbridge race this time around over Christmas, an improved performance in first-time blinkers. Will they work again?
Reikers Island has been beaten favourite three times in his last five outings, and Dorlac has had consistent support in five races since the autumn, both with not a lot to show for their modest efforts. Maybe their day will come, but can you bet on it?
3.05 Southwell Penalties for Forseti and Rock Icon offsets the increased rating for course-and-distance winner, Jazz Hands.
Trainer Richard Fahey certainly thinks so. He’s booked Barry McHugh, whose record on the four-year-old is 111 within a 15-race sequence (14 defeats) between May 2019 and 18 days ago.
As I say, Jazz Hands (BETDAQ 5.0) is up in the weights but is 1113 here at Southwell since cheekpieces were fitted in the autumn.
