COTTON ON TO ACE TRAINER

⭕ 2.40 Wincanton (Silver Buck Chase) Jeremy Scott, a name now forever synonymous with Golden Ace, has four runners here today on his favourite track, looking for 50 up at Wincanton in five seasons.

The high-drama 22-1 Fighting Fifth winner last weekend, Golden Ace is 2-2 at Wincanton, including the Kingwell 25 days before her 25-1 strike in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham last year.

Pilsdon Pen is 1121 at Wincanton but gets weight from five out of six opponents, with all bar one within a ratings range of 5lb.

But Joe Cotton, the odd man out, his claiming jockey bringing his weight down to 10st 9lb, is also trained by Scott.

He is the only one in this class-4 chase to have won two grades higher, a class-2 at Fontwell in March, and has finished in the first three over fences 11 times in 12 chase starts.

South Omo Zone could improve on his chasing debut 105 days back; now working well at home. Scorsese is on a confidence-seeking mission after a fall.

Toothless, a winner here over hurdles in the spring of 2023, was knocking at the door over fences until stepping up to within a few yards of today’s trip at Plumpton 571 days ago, but returns after ‘major surgery.’

Sea Invasion has also been absent since back-to-back strikes at Plumpton last Spring, both over much further than today.

Kalif d’Airy was receiving lumps of weight when scoring on his chasing debut at Lingfield last month.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 5.6 Joe Cotton, 17.5 Pilsdon Pen

THIEF-1 IS TED: THIEF-2 IS BRAD

⭕ 3.10 Wincanton This has gone to Dorset trainer Robert Walford twice in the last four seasons and his jockey on last year’s winner, Harry Kimber, is going for a hat-trick in the race.

The money was down in each case, so I took some 4.7 Ted The Thief on BETDAQ this morning.

Ted finished remote in three consecutive hurdles over shorter but caught the eye at Fontwell last time, stepped up in trip, after being winner and second in 3m Points at the start of the year.

Special John has to give him nearly two stone, punished for success in a novice at Exeter first time over regulation fences on his debut for Sam Thomas.

The handicapper couldn’t do much about the back-to-back success for Of Corse I Can in October, since both were 3m 2f chases for conditional jockeys.

Moreover, the winning rider, Bradley Harris, claims 3lb today and the Bath-based eight-year-old is running for a third consecutive race off the same 73 mark. So he could thieve this, yet there were offers of 25.0 on Betdaq Betting Exchange this morning.

I’LL DO ANYTHING FOR LOAF..

⭕ 3.40 Wincanton Toby Lawes’ stable, which has just sent out six in a win-and-place sequence in five days’ racing over a 10-day period (133212), saddles Surrey Lord in a hat-trick bid today.

Doctors Hill has a big weight for his handicap debut for winning a recent novice hurdle; impressive but with no previous winners in a race run 27 seconds slow.

Dirty Den has a steady sequence of a win and four places since the Spring but is 1-21 overall since winning a bumper in 2023.

The experienced runner is local horse, Meatloaf, a CD winner who has scored three out of seven and was aimed high in among them at Grade-1 tracks, Aintree, Cheltenham, Newbury.

Down in class today after wind ops, with Freddie Keighley bringing a 37% strike-rate into play for Paul Nicholls, after his last week’s 1231 two-day sequence, with winners at Bangor and Uttoxeter. BETDAQ 6.7.

The pedigree and form history of Came From Nowhere (Jeremy Scott) implies that a much longer trip is needed.

Non Stop clearly needs some help, with Joe Tizzard hoping that a tongue-tie is the answer. Same For The Grey Ghost after a wind op, while Thistle Be The One (ouch!) tries cheekpieces.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
