HORSE CALLED NEIGH ROBS DAQMAN OF SEVEN WINS BY A NOSE: After restricting his bets to a staking plan with built-in insurance, Daqman broke out yesterday and named three horses for wins, doubles and a treble, coming within a nose of the three-card trick, with two winners and an even-money nap beaten a nose by a horse called neigh (Ventura Flame was just run out of it by Bill Neigh). The two winners are given at the end of the list of four days of intensive tipping, which has produced more than 74 points profit.

TODAY DAQMAN PLANS TO HIT SIX FROM AROUND THE MEETINGS: Daqman sifts the cards at six meetings this afternoon and tonight, intending a winner each from Yarmouth, Haydock, Tipperary, Epsom, Longchamp and Newbury.
IFFRAAZ CAN FLY IN THIS COMPANY
2.50 Yarmouth Iffraaz was not punished when the Windsor Castle company at Royal Ascot proved beyond him from a bad draw, and can win this at 10 returns you 19.4 in the BETDAQ orange as I write.
If Iffraaz wins, he covers the stakes for three other bets today but I’m expecting more than one winner and feel confident enough to spare some points on more Daq Multiples. No Neigh, never!
4.00 Haydock Consistent despite being a tricky ride, Albert Finney was well held at Sandown in his sole venture into class 3, and faces progressive sorts here in Southern Rock and Dal Horrisgle.
The way that Southern Rock won back to back at Hamilton suggested improvement was likely stepped up to today’s trip but Dal Horrisgle was still very green when he won at Nottingham recently, and could take a leap forward.
Mubariz must have had problems after eating up the ground to score at Nottingham in October. Could bounce back. Lola’s Theme has been kept to soft ground.
3.4 O’BRIEN NOT TO BE SNEEZED AT
5.05 Tipperary Aidan O’Brien has won this five times in eight seasons and can make it six out of nine via Royal County Down, easy in the market and not punished when only fourth on the debut.
But winner and second that day at the Curragh, Lil Grey and Year of The Tiger, were not disgraced in the Albany and Chesham respectively at Royal Ascot.
The son of Gleneagles whose dam goes back to a St Leger winner should be much more at home over just short of a mile tonight, and he could be value at 3.4 on BETDAQ this morning.
All the money (in to 1.77) was for Cayenne Pepper, ‘a filly for next year’ in her trainer’s words but, as an Australia, could improve quickly for her Leopardstown maiden success, albeit with Jessica Harrington also warning that ‘we’ll take our time with her.’
SERENA BLAZING FROM THE FRONT
6.05 Epsom Loved the ladies’ World Cup, and it could be said it was racing that gave the lead to sports enfranchisement of woman. Now here’s a Ladies’ Derby Handicap!
At the weights Serena Brotherton (Blazing Saddles at around 4.8) should have an advantage over Brodie Hampson (Archimento, far too easy to back at 17.0). Yes, I know I’m supposed to be looking at the horses but they are far and away the best riders in the race.
Now that Wimbledon has dropped the ‘miss’ and ‘missus’ connotations, can we just say Brodie and Serena. All 10 riders today are ‘misses’ anyway!
Now we know – from his narrow 1m 5f second on the last day – that stamina is not an issue for Blazing Saddles – Serena can kick on and seal the race from the front.
EXPECT A DREAM RETURN TO FORM
6.35 Longchamp Three-year-olds have so far not been doing too well against the older generation, and Trois Mille needs a big step forward, up in trip and grade after a 6f four-timer in handicaps.
Polydream, Spinning Memories and Marianafoot were third, fourth and fifth behind Hey Gaman in the Palais-Royal at this Group-3 level at Longchamp. Marianafoot was hampered two out, making a four-timer bid.
Polydream was only a head in front of Spinning Memories, giving that one 6lb, and Freddy Head’s fabulous two-year-old (beat Laurens then ran up to Wild Illusion in the fillies’ Criterium) can return to form here with everything in her favour.
DETTORI IS OUT ON HIS OWN HERE
7.25 Newbury After his seven at Royal Ascot and double at Saint-Cloud on Sunday, I’m following Frankie Dettori with his sole ride at a minor meeting (a Newbury class 3 is minor to him).
Frankie takes over on Logician after what’s been described by connections as the roan colt’s educational double at Newbury and Newmarket (July)
The son of Frankel, out of a Daylami mare, is clearly expected to go on to better things, and I’ll be surprised if the others – all class 4 and 5 winners, and well exposed – get a look in.
Natty Night should confirm Lingfield dominance over Agent Basterfield, despite adjustment to the weights, and the dual winner last autumn, Massam, may get back on track for a change of stables (Mark Johnston to David Simcock).
