🔝 O’BRIEN’S BEST TWO-YEAR-OLDS: It’s a big weekend at Newmarket for the two-year-olds with the four feature races won a total of 21 times by Aidan O’Brien, who will be keen to restore top spot having missed out on all four last season.
🔝 DAQMAN’S TOP RATINGS TO DATE: Some of the weekend runners feature in Daqman’s top Two-Year-Olds to date.
TODAY: Daqman heads to Beverley for his nap of the day with three selections this evening at Newcastle completing his betting portfolio.
O’BRIEN RAIDS ENGLAND’S HQ
THREE August two-year-old races have been won an incredible total of 46 times by the legend who creates legends, trainer Aidan O’Brien.
Now in September, another big month for juveniles, O’Brien has carried off the winner’s prize for four Newmarket races a total of 21 times so far.
There will be more to come from these Friday-Saturday trials, but note that O’Brien failed to win any one of the four last season, three going to English stables!
╠3.00 Newmarket, Friday (Rockfel Stakes 7f): last year Carla’s Way (Simon and Ed Crisford). Aidan O’Brien 3, Sir Michael Stoute 3.
O’Brien is likely to run Ballet Slippers and Heavens Gate; Stoute has Formal at the front of the market.
Draw bias: four of the last six came out of stalls 1 and 2
â• 1.50 Newmarket, Saturday (Royal Lodge Stakes, 1m): last year Ghostwriter (Clive Cox).
Aidan O’Brien 7, Andrew Balding 2. Andrew Balding is likely to saddle Windlord and Royal Playwright against O’Brien’s Acapulco Bay.
Draw bias: 7 out of 10 from stalls 1, 2, 3, 4.
╠2.25 Newmarket, Saturday (Cheveley Park Stakes, 6f): last year’s winner, Porta Fortuna (Donnacha O’Brien).
Aidan O’Brien has won it 4 times; he has six left in; his selected are likely to be Lake Victoria and Fairy Godmother. Babouche is engaged for Ger Lyons.
â• 3.00 Newmarket, Saturday (Middle Park, 6f): last year Vandeek (Simon and Ed Crisford).
Aidan O’Brien has won 7 seven times; he has five left in; his selected are likely to be Whistlejacket and Ideas Of March
Draw bias: six of the last seven winners came out of stalls 1, 2, 3 and 4.
* The Lion In Winter may run in the Goffs Million at the Curragh on Saturday.

ANA CAN LAND NAP
â• 3.20 Beverley I was expecting Beverley to have been hit with more rain than they have and this morning’s BHA update still has the ground as good.
The feature class 2 sprint has attracted a disappointing entry of just four runners chasing home a not inconsiderable ÂŁ10,308 to the winner.
Although not the official best horse in this race Emaraaty Ana is taken to justify his position at the top of the Betdaq Betting Exchange market.
This represents a drop in class for the Jamie Osborne trained runner who has been mixing it at class 1 level in his last four races including here at Beverley when he was third in the Beverley Bullet and beaten just a neck. Over the same trip today you’d like to think a repeat of that should be good enough.
Clarendon House is rated 5lb superior but has only beaten two horses home in this last three starts and his trainer Robert Cowell is 0-10 in the last 14 days. The visor goes on for the first time today but it is going to to have to work some magic to rekindle his form and remember a first time visor doesn’t always guarantee an improved run.
A bigger danger may come from Tees Spirit who has been kept busy this year but has collected decent prizes along the way at Newmarket and Sandown over the minimum trip. He has something to find on the figures but his recent decent form is a positive.
That leaves King Of Stars who is returning from injury after a 655 day break. You can’t dismiss a Michael Appleby trained runner on those grounds alone and Alistair Rawlinson has won three times previously on the grey. He set a furious pace here in the 2022 Bullet and might well try the same tactics here.
THREE TIPS IN TWO RACES
â• 8.00 Newcastle The bang in form Balqaa is taken to complete a September hat-trick following her course and distance win last time out and a win at Southwell at the start of the month.
The Stella Barclay trained mare is up another 5lb but also retuning to the same mark that she won another course and distance race earlier in her career.
Barleybrown is another that goes well over course and distance and looks the main danger. Disregard his 9th placed effort last time out – he found trouble on countless occasions.
Billy Loughnane riding for the first time is an obvious positive and I’ll include him and Balqaa for a WIN 10 return on the race.
â• 8.30 Newcastle We’re looking at a 5/1 the field race for the finale and at double figure odds I’ll chance Alfa Whiteburd who has run better since undergoing wind surgery. This is his first return to the all-weather since then.
Aspirations for the giddy heights of the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot proved wide of the mark last year when he was a 300/1 18th of 20 but he has now found his level and his latest effort at Catterick was much more like it.
