BANKED 48 POINTS PROFIT ON BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY: The banks might have been closed but DAQMAN unlocked a bumper 48 point profit yesterday with two winners from his three bets AND a 12/1 winning double on his DAQ MULTIPLES advice. DETACHMENT WON 7/2 at Beverley and then his nap EMPLOYER WON 15/8 at Windsor with our man saying before the race ‘I’m struggling for dangers, so even more reason to put the nap blob against Employer.’

TRENDING TRIALS THAT LAUNCHED CLASSIC HEROES: Are you looking for another Enable, Golden Horn or Ruler Of The World? Aren’t we all. The Derby and Oaks winners all hit the big time in their trials over the next nine days. Daqman checks out the stars that were launched at Chester, Lingfield and York, starting on the Roodeye tomorrow. He’s already putting an outsider in the mix from his news of the gallops.

PHOTOGRAPHER IN THE DERBY PICTURE

2.25 Chester, tomorrow (Cheshire Oaks) We picked up Enable from this last year and backed her to win four Oaks, a King George and the Arc, thanks to her godsend of a trainer. Look out for my analysis tomorrow.

3.35 Chester, tomorrow (Chester Vase) Aidan O’Brien has won six of the last seven Vases, with three of them doing well in Derbys: Treasure Beach (second at Epsom, won at the Curragh), Ruler Of The World (won at Epsom) and US Army Ranger (second at Epsom)

1.55 Lingfield, Saturday, Lingfield Oaks Trial Sleeping Partner, Ginevra, Juliette Marny, User Friendly, Ramruma are great Oaks names of the past and there was a sudden revival of this trial in 2016 when Seventh Heaven (Irish Oaks winner) made it her Classic stepping-stone.

2.30 Lingfield, Saturday, Lingfield Derby Trial The gypsies used to wait on the result of this and then chalk up the winner on the wall of the Amato pub as a tip for the Epsom Derby.

They were right countless times through April The Fifth, Midday Sun, Tulyar, Parthia and a host of others in the good old bad old days but, apart from High Rise (1998), this trial seems to have lost its Derby impact. Does Saturday see its revival?

3.30 York, May 17 (Dante Stakes) Here is the Dante’s magnificent seven: Sharastani (1986), Reference Point (1987), Erhaab (1994), North Light 2004), Motivator (2005), Authorized (2007), Golden Horn (2015).

All won the York trial on the way to taking the Derby. But to the list you have to add Workforce (2010), runner-up in the Dante but straightened out by Sir Michael Stoute to go seven lengths clear in the Classic at Epsom.

John Gosden, who has won the Dante twice in the last three seasons, can choose from five, Blue Riband Trial winner Crossed Baton, Guineas fifth Roaring Lion, Photographer, Sandown Classic Trial scorer Sevenna Star and the Frankel colt Without Parole.

The 50-1 Epsom chance of Photographer, a son of New Approach, and closely related to Irish Derby and Doncaster St Leger second, Midas Touch, is enhanced by some smart homework after only two runs on a racecourse. So says my man in the long grass.

FOXTROT JULIET ECHO

2.00 Brighton DAQMAN followers were rewarded when ‘JE’ Jane Elliott won on 7/2 chance Detachment yesterday, continuing her excellent run of form highlighted in yesterday’s update. She could well follow up today onboard Foxtrot Knight in the opener at Brighton.

‘Foxtrot’ is a winner without a penalty having won an apprentice handicap last time out and in a competitive race, despite the small field size, that could be enough to tilt the scales.

Whilst it was soft ground when Foxtrot won at Pontefract he also seems just as effective on good to firm (as it is today) so that isn’t a concern. I would imagine the tactics will be to make all and hopefully he will enjoy his first visit to this idiosyncratic Sussex track.

Pride Of Angels is another last time out winner but is penalised 7lb for winning over seven furlongs at Lingfield which looks quite a severe hike for winning a five runner fillies handicap.

Upavon looks the bigger danger. He has a course, distance and going win to his name and is likely to be the closer, judged on some of his most recent efforts though he might need six furlongs these days to be at his optimal best.

The field is completed by Roundabout Angel whose five career wins have all come on the all-weather.

2.20 Thirsk Hugo Palmer landed the DAQMAN nap yesterday with Employer who continued his trainer’s red hot strike-rate. It was three from three for the stable yesterday on a Bank Holiday that won’t be forgotten quickly.

Mystic Meg can continue the excellent stable form in the 2.20 at Thirsk. She has the benefit of experience and those that have already run have not shown much. ‘Meg’ was no match for Magic Lily on debut at Newmarket but the winner went on to finish a close up third in a Group 1 which gave the form a massive retrospective stamp.

Margie’s Choice is obviously of interest being a debutant from John Gosden’s yard but she meets a rival who has already shown ability and the experience factor could be the key to the race.

3.20 Thirsk John Gosden looks to have the primary chance here with Hinde Street who won well at Lingfield – despite being sent off ‘second string’ at 25/1.

He picks up a resulting penalty but it looked quite a hot contest with runners from major yards represented.

He is preferred to the more exposed Bartholomeu Dias and Lucky Deal who won a modest Chelmsford contest.
