DAQMAN MONDAY PROFIT WITH 100-30 WINNER: With his nap a non-runner, Daqman’s winnings from Mujtaba (WON 100-30) at Redcar yesterday edged a profit on the day of two points. Today three bets including the first two races on the Catterick card.
TREBLE OF BIG JUMPING VENUES THIS WEEKEND: Daqman also lines up key races on the weekend cards at Down Royal and Wetherby that present opportunities for the likely new stars of 2021-22 and bring back top hurdlers and chasers from last season.
THE WEEKEND TRIPLE JUMPS
⚠️ HEADS UP Major meetings at Down Royal and Wetherby on Friday and Saturday include the Ladbrokes Champion Chase. A triple of big Jumps venues is completed by Ascot and the London Gold Cup.
⭕ 2.20 Down Royal, Friday (WKD Hurdle) Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore, who won this Grade 2 last year with Aspire Tower, are expected to team up with Quilixios.
Quilixios won at this meeting a year ago as part of a five-timer which culminated in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.
Rachael returned to the winner’s enclosure with her fourth ride since injury when Eklat de Rire won a Listed at Wexford yesterday for De Bromhead,who was completing a double after winning the 2m 4f maiden hurdle with Fangio De Vassy.
⭕ 3.30 Down Royal, Friday A beginners’ chase with a sensational outcome in the last three years. It has been won successively by young jumping stars Delta Work, Samcro and Envoi Allen, all trained Gordon Elliott.
Delta Work went on to a hat-trick, completed at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting and taking in the Drinmore at Fairyhouse.
Samcro was launched on a different trajectory: his day would come the following March in the Golden Miller at the Cheltenham Festival.
But last year Envoi Allen enjoyed a similar hat-trick, also taking in the Drinmore but completed with the Killiney Novice Chase at Punchestown this January.
Elliott had already won the race twice, so goes for a six-timer on Friday,
his main hope Grand Paradis.
He won 2-2 hurdles in February by a total of 22 lengths, both on heavy, both over widely different distances, 2m at Fairyhouse and 2m 5f at Thurles (a Grade 3).
⭕ 1.30 Wetherby, Friday This could see the novice-chase debut of Ahoy Senor, brilliant winner over hurdles of the Sefton at Aintree’s Grand National meeting in April.
⭕ 3.05 Wetherby, Saturday (Charlie Hall Chase) Cyrname (pulled up the last twice) is the likely favourite to get back on track by winning this for the second time.
⭕ 3.20 Ascot, Saturday (London Gold Cup Handicap Chase) Market leader in early betting is Vinndication, who won the race for Kim Bailey two years ago.
⭕ 3.25 Down Royal, Saturday (Ladbrokes Champion Chase) Road To Respect, the winner for Noel Meade in 2018 and 2019, is back for an interrupted hat-trick bid.
SCOUSE LOOKS WINNING RECIPE
⭕ 1.00 Catterick I was on Manila Scouse at Pontefract a week ago and he let me down when only second but compensation awaits here at Catterick. The switch back to five furlongs should prove ideal for the Tim Easterby trained runner as he seemed to flounder in the closing stages of the Pontefract race which was over six and it’s a tough six at that.
There are no concerns on the ground front and, if anything, this looks a much easier task so a reproduction of either of his last two efforts (runner-up at Chester too) should suffice.
Two of the biggest dangers are already looking very well exposed. Mystical Music is dropped to five furlongs for the first time despite running probably his best race to date when runner-up at Yarmouth last time out over six, whilst Lotus Rose is held by the selection on Chester form and is also proving vulnerable under her penalty for an early season Ripon win.
A bigger danger may emerge from Stylish Icon if she handles the ground. Her trainer James Tate does well with his two-year-olds here and she wouldn’t have to improve much on her Beverley effort last time out to play a hand.
SPIRIT TO PROVE QUEEN BEE
⭕ 1.30 Catterick The second division of the same race and whilst the debutants Sweet Glance and Monsieur Kodi have attracted early interest on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE it might pay to rely on experience with the ground proving testing.
Locally trained Queen Spirit shaped well on debut at Redcar – despite running green and should know plenty more about the game today – she also gets a handy draw in 2. The draw bias over five at Catterick is more pronounced when the ground rides soft.
Her trainer Michael Dods is running at a very respectable four winners from his last 17 runners.

⭕ 7.10 Newcastle Form figures of 2222 come with an instant wealth warning but Cover Name still looks the pick of the fillies in the closing race at Newcastle.
Her main rival’s form figures are more of a concern 224P. Dabirstar was pulled up when favourite at Southwell in April after she looked to go wrong and the vet reported her to be lame. This is her first race back and whilst the form of Cover Name isn’t spectacular it might be more reliable on this occasion.
Cover Name can afford to run below her recent efforts (which have included three defeats when favourite – hence the ”wealth warning’) and STILL be good enough to land this.
