IN THE BLACK WITH RED

⭕ 3.15 Leicester: It’s an all-chase card on heavy ground at Leicester today with field sizes of 5,5,5,4,4 and 7.

The bar is set low in terms of competitive action but this 3.15 does at least look playable in terms of prices and I prefer Overabottleofred to Lady Pretender and Shesupincourt who were all disputing morning favouritism and have already flipped pole position a couple of times.

Overabottleofred made a pleasing chase debut here in December over a slightly further trip and the mare remains interesting off her unchanged mark. She made a bad blunder that day but recovered well.

Lady Pretender ran well here in December but seemed to go backwards on that form when only fifth at Taunton earlier in the month.

Shesupincourt is 0-6 over fences but handles testing ground well and is probably my biggest danger.

ASA ANOTHER GOOD CHANCE

⭕ 5.00 Catterick: It’s hard to get away from the hat-trick seeking Asa in the finale who is in a rich vein of form.

The Philip Kirby trained runner is unsurprisingly out again quickly under her 7lb penalty but that should be shrugged aside by the mare who stormed home by 27 lengths at Southwell last week.

That was her first run over hurdles in six starts but she was proving equally effective over the larger obstacles – including winning here earlier in the month when she scored by an eased down 11 lengths.

It’s hard to see what can stop her in this company and I was full expecting her to be odds-on on Betdaq Betting Exchange but pleasantly surprised to take 2.36 on the 11am market.

Forest Blaze has shaped as though this longer trip will suit but is as yet unproven and he arrives on the back of being a beaten favourite last time out at Wetherby when looking a little one paced in the closing stages.

FAVOURITE SISTER

⭕ 7.00 Wolverhampton: Autumn Angel heads the market but can often blow her chance at the start and her trainer Tony Carroll also runs recent course and distance winner Under Curfew who I marginally prefer at a much bigger price.

However a safer play might be Sisters In The Sky who won over course and distance three weeks ago and Rossa Ryan rides again. She’s only up 1lb and her current form looks superior to some largely out of form rivals.

They include Shamardia who is now tried with cheekpieces having flopped at Southwell last time out.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
