SUPERNAP DOVER THE TOP ON BETDAQ: Daqman landed his supernap yesterday, Cliffs Of Dover (WON 1-2), another value best bet via BETDAQ, where he secured 8-10 at morning offers.
NATIONAL ANTE-POST PUNT AT 17.0: Today Daqman looks at the offers for two Grand Nationals in England and Ireland and tomorrow checks out the early birds on the Flat. He starts with a 17.0 BETDAQ ante-post bet.
BIG TWO IN NATIONALS DOUBLE
I’ve got a new version of the Spring Double. The old Lincoln-National double is being revived by bookmakers this year. But a better bet may be a National-National double.
Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins, who fought such a battle at Cheltenham that Ireland won by the rugby score of 17-11, have standouts in the Irish Grand National and the original at Liverpool.
Irish National The Bobbyjo winner at Fairyhouse a month or so back, Bellshill, is in from 20-1 to 10-1 for a winning return to the course for Willie Mullins in the Irish Grand National on April 2.
His form in retrospect now makes him a standout in the race, as 2017 RSA third to Might Bite, narrowly beaten for gold at Cheltenham last week.
Bellshill had launched his steeplechase career with defeat of Balko Des Flos, who has just won the Ryanair.
Aintree National Gordon Elliott meanwhile has a tried and trusted route to the Liverpool original, now to be followed by Tiger Roll.
Silver Birch (2007) was a major stepping-stone in Gordon’s career, running second in the cross-country at Cheltenham before winning the National.
Cause Of Causes was runner-up in last year’s Liverpool marathon after winning the very same cross-country at Cheltenham.
Now here’s Tiger Roll for Gordon, winning last week’s cross-country and featuring generally at 14-1 and 16-1 for Aintree.
VALUE: I took some of a grand 17.0 Tiger Roll in the BETDAQ ante-post orange for the April 14 National in England. I could get 324-1 a double on the same horse with Bellshill in the Fairyhouse version on Corals.
GUN DIGGER HAS FIRE POWER
3.05 Wetherby Warren Greatrex, who won the Kim Muir at Cheltenham last week, sends two up from Lambourn to Wetherby today.
He has Final Choice in this race dropping back to his winning trip, which also saw him clear of his field at Newbury in January, run over at the business end by a horse that afterwards proved to be class 2.
The favourite, Monfass, is up 10lb on his last success, whereas Final Choice, offered at 7.6 on BETDAQ, is 10lb down on his mark at this time last year.
3.40 Wetherby David Pipe, who missed out at Cheltenham, was back to form with a winner at Kempton on Saturday.
He sends Warthog up from the West Country after an Ascot run following wind surgery. He was a 3m Point winner so this step up in trip might be the answer under Rules.
Tomngerry has been disappointing since 2016, stuck on a 135 rating which keeps him in a hard place at this level, and he had to return to a bumper over the minimum to earn his corn on the last day.
There seemed to be light at the end of a long losing tunnel when Venetia Williams (Eminent Poet) had a winner at Kempton on Saturday though 1-23 in the last two weeks hardly constitutes a revival.
But the two other runners are veterans, and it’s a typical punter-friendly BETDAQ orange (105%) as I write, so I took 4.4 Warthog and 7.0 Eminent Poet.
3.50 Clonmel This is where I came in, Mullins v Elliott . Gun Digger (Elliott) ran second at Thurles to the subsequent Martin Pipe winner at Cheltenham.
He should have too much fire power at this stage for the embryonic Force Of Forces (Mullins), whose runner-up at Fairyhouse has flopped since. Yet another 105% BETDAQ orange, with Gun Digger big value at 3.55.
DAQMAN’S BETS (today’s singles are to win 20)
