DERBY ABC GUIDE AND OUTSIDERS TODAY AT 12.5 AND 19.5: Just 17 colts are declared for Saturday’s Derby at Epsom, seven of them trained by Aidan O’Brien. There are standouts in Daqman’s ABC guide but equally there are unknowns with that ‘could be anything’ look. Meanwhile today’s tips range from an even-money nap to outsiders at 12.5 and 19.5.

Running-on second to Siskin in the Irish 2,000 Guineas; brother to Guineas winners Gleneagles (2,000) and Marvellous (1,000). Stamina doubt but conserves his energy.

By French Derby (1m 2f) winner Lope De Vega. Won Group-3 Zetland Stakes on the soft at Newmarket as a juvenile but looked not to have grown much, fifth in Kempton Classic trial (behind Pyledriver)

Won the Lingfield Derby Trial; runner-up was then a similar distance behind Irish Derby winner Santiago in the Queens Vase.

Galileo colt, brother to Oaks winner Was. Caught the eye when fourth to Irish Derby runner-up Tiger Moth in big-field Leopardstown maiden at the start of June.
CD RUSSIAN EMPEROR
Derrinstown Derby trial runner-up before winning a Group 3 at Royal Ascot. Breeding says 8-10 furlongs but he shows reserves at the business end.
CD SERPENTINE
By Galileo; dam second in an Oaks, and closely related to Dylan Thomas. After his nine-lengths Curragh maiden win in June, trainer O’Brien saw him as a St Leger horse.
CD WORTHILY
Looked a natural when Newbury winner on recent debut, closely related to St Leger winner Lucarno.
C EMISSARY
Half-brother to Derby winner Workforce; dam sister to Leger winner. Beaten a neck by Khalifa Sat in the Cocked Hat Derby Trial at Goodwood on only second career start.

By Golden Horn out of a Gallileo mare. Gallinule runner-up and not disgraced (couldn’t find cover) in Santiago’s Irish Derby.

Third to Pinatubo (Chesham Stakes) as a juvenile; won Royal Ascot handicap in first-time cheekpieces.
C KHALIFA SAT
Stayed well to beat Emissary in Cocked Hat Derby trial at Goodwood and hiked 19lb by the handicapper!
C MOHICAN HEIGHTS
Another very lightly raced, but won both starts either side of winter break, and third to Pyledriver (Mogul just behind, fourth) in the King Edward V11 Stakes (Ascot Derby).
D MYTHICAL
106 rated, so not far off the top but has to improve on fourth to Max Vega in Zetland Stakes and fifth (odds on) in the Gallinule, when Gold Maze was second.
ANGELS BEARING BETDAQ GIFTS
⭕ 3.00 Doncaster John Gosden is 4-6 on Town Moor and Indie Angel wears cheekpieces for her first run on turf. The grey filly’s sire, Dark Angel, loved the top of the ground.
Tom Collins has run in much better company but trainer David Elsworth is out of form and Tom has been kept to slow and soft-heavy ground.
Notforalongtime dropped back in class to score on the last day and is up a furlong for this hat-trick bid spread over 199 days.
But there’s another Dark Angel filly in the race, Angel Of Delight, for whom in-form trainer Hugo Palmer has booked James Doyle. I took the two Angels, Indie at 12.5 in the BETDAQ Exchange orange and Delight at 19.5.
⭕ 5.05 Doncaster Sir Mark Prescott is the master of the sequence horse, progressing them up the grades under the nose of the handicapper. Revolver had plenty in hand last time and can land the treble.
⭕ 7.15 Leicester Trainer Tom Clover made such a terrific start when racing resumed that I couldn’t imagine his having the material to continue the run but he remains in good heart (3-9), and Surrajah ran at Yarmouth as if needing the race.
⭕ 9.00 Chepstow Be Fair could improve stepped up in trip here. Two reasons for saying so: he needs the jockey to boss him into action and left his best work until late in his 1m 4f AW wins.
The jockey? Tom Marquand is 2-2 on the four-year-old, who was 7.5 in the BETDAQ orange this morning.
